Can you explain how to inject that back up in the game? I tried using the injection method with godmode 9 and it keeps giving me the injection failed message, any help would be greatly appreciated
Jeff Parker you can do it all within checkpoint. Before you dump the game you need to make a backup. (If you didn’t then you can always just put the cartridge back into the 3ds and then make the backup.) once you have the backup and have named it something really fucking funny like milf Denny’s, you need to run the dumped game. After that just go back into checkpoint select milf Denny’s or whatever u named it and then hit restore.
Pretty good video. Now I can play my old Pókemon Pearl and erasing my savegames the times I want (without needing backup and restore). Thank you so much :)
I'm stuck with a black and white screen. I don't know where the roms are supposed to be left and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with rewatching this guide. EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out. Both the nds and cia files had different file names so I made them both identical. Now it works. Thank you so much for helping me with this video.
I'm still stuck at the black and white screen. I noticed that the forwarder 3DS creates a nds rom (kb in date) and cia file with a forwarder prefix, but the original rom (mb of data) still exists. Any guidance here as I have 3 files.
I ran into a couple problems with this while trying to dump a copy of one of my DS cartridges onto my cfw 2ds. I kept getting a "cartridge not inserted" error. I figured out this was a result of two issues. The first one is that you need to find the "_nds" folder he references but appears to have vanished from the links in his description. You can find them if you do a web search for "nds forwarder" and go to the latest gbatemp page. Scroll down, and you will find it discretely embedded in a section below all the main links. It simply says "download THIS" and no longer resembles the link he shows in the video. So read carefully and you'll find it. Secondly after downloading and extracting the "_nds" folder to the sd card, the second issue I ran into was that the forwarder needs to be set to a Target of "3DS SD Card". He doesn't highlight the importance of this setting for members using sd cards, but the forwarder program appeared to be set by default to "r4". So I suggest double checking to make sure the app is set to "Target - 3DS SD Card". Overall a great tutorial but things have clearly changed a bit since he posted this. Hopefully my input will help someone else in need.
my luck was that i know some about this nps dump already so i noticed both problems, the dislikes on this video probably come from people that didnt know or didnt noticed
For everyone wondering; Yes, these roms can connect to the actual cartridges, ASSUMING that you ARE using twilight menu (for ds and dsi games. Not tried the 3ds games yet)
When dumping games does it affect the original game in the cartridge? or is it only copying the game and exporting it into the 3ds? I would like to be able to play my games using the cartridge or sell them in the future.
Is there a reason why the "trim" variant was chosen to become the .cia file and not the original? I can see they are different sizes, but does it matter which one you choose?
Hey, quick question: So I downloaded both the Forwarder 3DS & 3DS SD Card file and I put the nds file in the root of my 3DS SD Card. But when I opened the Forwarder 3DS, the target remains blank. Is there something I did wrong?
Is it possible to transfer its gameplay data? I wanted the play my Pokemon Diamond with the items and pokemon I have in the card rather than start entierly new. I guess I could just trade myself back the pokemon but I would like to have my items back too. Guess I'm asking for too much since I've been waiting for DS dumping for years.
Currently testing this out, let's see if this works. I'll edit this post if it does. Edit; Damn, this actually works! Thanks! Note that don't delete the CIA file with DS games, unlike me who has to repeat the process again now because I didn't pay attention.
@@sthetixofficial I still only have the trim.nds file in the gm9 folder. I don't know how to convert the trim.nds file to a trim.cia file. Maybe it's not even necessary?! It doesn't make a difference. Even though the non-trim model is a bigger size, it looks like it gets trimmed anyway when converted to CIA. So, unless you're creating .3ds files to back up on your computer, there is no difference. Even then, worse case scenario, the game just takes up a little bit more space than it should, since the cartridge tends to be a little bigger than the actual size of the game. I just converted both the trim and non-trim to CIA, and they are both the exact same size, despite the non-trim one was bigger to begin with. So, I wouldn't really worry about it.

And do you absolutly need to dump the NDS.rom from a legit game or from an R4 (or else) or is it possible to copy a rom downloaded from the net into the out folder of gm9 ?
Yo just a heads up, I followed the steps but it didn't appear on the home screen as new software after installing and deleting the cia so I was confused, I went into titles, at the bottom was a TWLNAND-installed title which was a purple coloured title for my game copy that I didn't get to appear on the home screen, I pressed A on it and launch was an option so I did and it ran and now it appears as software on my home screen and it works great! Just a heads up tho, don't mess about in that titles section, ESPECIALLY don't delete stuff unless you know FOR SURE what you're deleting otherwise is very bad. EDIT: Just a heads up it all works fine but now the music for hovering over the game plays whilst hovering over anything in the menu, this is a damn bop tho so I aint even mad

Which is wierd considering its a dump from a legit game right? do you know any workaround for this? do i need to somehow patch the trim.nds file before creating the forwarder?
Thanks sthetix, I figured it out! For anyone else in the future, I had remnants of TWLoader and some other things used to play ds roms. -I got rid of everything from this tutorial using a back up (ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR SD CARD AT A FUNCTIONING STATE). -I got rid of stuff lying around on the sd card from TWLoader and some other ds emulation stuff/ custom dsi menus so there could be no conflict. -Checked that Luma CFW and boot9strap and my NTR CFW were all up to date. - Installed TWLIGHT MENU ++ and it's updater from your other video. -Followed the instructions in this video and it now works! I assume there was a boot conflict with the left over files from other homebrew apps.

u just need to install the game once and u can download pirated games off the internet but i dont support it
@@sthetixofficial Thanks for your answer, i ll retry the tuto .
EDIT: Just a heads up it all works fine but now the music for hovering over the game plays whilst hovering over anything in the menu, this is a damn bop tho so I aint even mad
thanks for this comment, I had the same issue
You can configue the loader with twilight menu!

O geez! I's not centered
Why I can get the generated file folder but inside the folder don’t show up the CIA file as your. 6:19. Also thank you I start watching your videos and I learning a lot with your videos. Thank you.
have u tried dumping other games?
@@sthetixofficial I only try 3 games. New super Mario bros for ds, Mario vs Donkey Kong mini-land mayhem & Mario Party DS.
so did it generate the cia files?
Yes. I know why. 5:32 where it said Target make sure it on DSi/3DS Card. I got it. I watch your video until see what I did wrong.
I've struggled for a couple of hours now wondering of something. When Im using the Forwarder, it doesnt generate a cia file. In the generated folder it generates another folder, but with nothing in it. Please help me. Im in desperate need of playing Mario Party DS
u need a 64bit windows pc
Hi sthetix, thanks for sharing your videos! One question, can you add cia forwarders to nds files in bulk? I have hundreds of nds roms. Thank you!
im stuck at 5:02 because the Forwarder3DS jar keeps popping up but then closing by itself, even though i made sure my java is updated
watch my newest guide about nds installation
btw this works using a sky3ds cart with 3ds games on it. ive been dumping all my games on the SD card since the sky card kept having discontect issues. live saver!
of course..
Why does it keep failing to convert to CIA??? I followed instructions... So far so good. But when I go to convert it as instructed, it loads as usual.. only to be abruptly stopped as it tells me it's failed.
Is it because I need more space????
ok thats awesome great tut but how do i exctract saves because most save editors are not seeing the games
try jksv or checkpoint
@@sthetixofficial yeah i tryed pokemon games that where on the ds which i know have installed thanks to ur video are not showing up and i have a saved game on the virtual version
Glad I found this, DS games were all I had missing. turns out I had everything I needed this whole time. I was waiting for an Injector... one question on the off chance you still monitor the comments on this video: I did this with a bunch of DS games and the all worked except for my legit Spirit tracks, guess what happens? the Anti Piracy Train controls glitch. Which is wierd considering its a dump from a legit game right? do you know any workaround for this? do i need to somehow patch the trim.nds file before creating the forwarder?
try asking at discord.gg/MWxPgEp
I assume there was a boot conflict with the left over files from other homebrew apps.
this may be a dumb question but can you do the opposite with GM9? as in putting any ds/3ds game into a cartrage?
no you cannot
