What I tell guys about women in The Dominican Republic, is they are very traditional...as in a "traditional woman" so if that is what you are looking for you need to expect to conduct yourself like a "traditional man". Take care of your woman because she will take care of you. You can help her and be smart with money at the same time, and if you cant then maybe you shouldn't be looking for a woman until you can.

Hello Norberis. You're absolutely right, that's exactly how it is. Due to their unfortunate situation, many of the often young women and mothers are dependent on support. And every man with a serious interest should be aware of that. However, one must not forget that this problem was not created by the foreign men, but is a purely home-made problem of the DR. There is certainly also a lack of the necessary political will to improve the situation. One should also not forget that any financial support has its limits and is not a bottomless pit. The chapis are a topic in themselves, I think every man who falls for such a woman is naive and it's his own fault. Because whether and how he supports a woman remains his own decision.

This is a very informative video, Norberis. I have come across so many men who come here looking for a woman and they have no idea about the Dominican culture. I had to learn this myself many years ago. I remember thinking every woman was a chapi until I realized exactly what you pointed out in the video. Even women in regular relationships with Dominican men, it is the culture that the man is going to provide most or all the financial support.
But foreigners definitely need to take the time to get to know any woman here that they have the idea of making his girlfriend. Like you said, we all know many chapis are running around. So getting to know her will help him realize if she's just a chapi or if she's just a woman who doesn't have access to the opportunities women in richer countries have. There is definitely a difference and finding out that part can be the difference between a dude ending up getting taken advantage of or finding a good woman who simply has financial needs.

Excellent video! Most women that you date here will need some level of support and that is very understandable. How I approach it and what I recommend is that you set limits; for a few reasons. Reason #1, because of the culture differences, most relationships won't last, especial if you don't speak Spanish. If you give to much, to fast, you will be left frustrated. The second reason that I recommend limits is, whatever she was doing without, before you met her, she was surviving. I know men who have went into a woman's residence, saw how she was living and by the way, her family has lived like that for generations and although she is fine and happy, men feel sorry for them and will want to furnish that residence with appliances that items that she has never had. I've seen men furnish entire residences, by mottos, iPhones and other expensive items, all to end up single. Men have to set a weekly or monthly budget to give to a women and let me tell you that it will never be enough! Once she sees that you are serious and that's all she is getting, she will either learn to make it work or it will cause the relationship to end. Once you get some time in with this woman and you want to, on special occasions, do something extra, such as upgrade her phone or buy an appliance, I think that's cool. Nothing I'm saying applies to all, but many can't handle money. Example: if you decide her weekly budget is 5500 Pesos and you give it to her on Monday and tell her that it has to last until next Monday, that money is spent by Wednesday. She didn't set any aside for the rent, cell phone or any other bill and when those bills are due, guess what? This will be a very big problem in that relationship. But, once she learns to hold on to some money, set some aside for upcoming bills, you might have a keeper. Just my opinion, once you set a limit, you must say no and stick to it.

Great job with the video dear. As a Dominican I can comment that the issue in our country is not the women, it's the men!
Specifically the ones that travel and make it the norm to spoil women beyond comprehension!
The men have no right to complaint, either they should date middle class financially stable women in our country or deal with the artificial standard they themselves have setup.

The gentleman I am referring to finds it awkward discussing money with his girlfriend. He prefers supporting her with a regular allowance so she doesn’t have to ask. What is a reasonable monthly allowance to give such a woman in your opinion? Thank You in advance

Knowing that the cultures are different and understanding their conditions is just as important as understanding your own. Just because you’re in a relationship doesn’t necessarily mean you HAVE to help but it’s something that goes a long way. If she from the tropical farmlands best believe it isn’t easy but I don’t believe you should have to pick a struggle. It’s counter productive to always complain when the simple solution is communicating. You don’t necessarily need to go by the culture but it’s not about just the culture. It’s about understanding necessity and that’s not always a simple answer

in my experience the DR and countries like south america you will find either you financially support because they have a need and there is no help or they have their own and are respectful about it. even going to a foreign country looking for wife/girlfriend/other you will still have issues but not to the extent in the US. it is what you are willing to accept of supporting or carrying a person in that country and if that person has your back or is only there because they are an opportunist and will leave at the first sign of issues for another opportunity. you have to make your intentions known and have boundaries to find that good brugal/mamajuanna/ diamond in the rough dominican woman.
the laws in the US are built and more favored for a woman financially, especially if it ends in divorce and kids are involved. there is child support, medical ,house, pension and the list goes on. they are even having kids just to get a monthly check from the Govt.(its a business now). there are good women in the US but unfortunately there is that pookie , ray ray, 304, culture and feminist mentality growing and now even marriage is almost frowned upon and men are leaving to other countries like DR. i say all this but it is amusing that we want to get away from all what i said above but that same mentality is brought to these countries and it changes and then we want to complain but we are the ones that brought it there.
in the end leave that drama at home if you go overseas. find a cooperative woman that will help you build and be your rock and you with her.

If you’ve never seen her then it’s stupid to send them money that’s a straight simp move. But if she’s your girl and she’s calling and texting you all the time and you’ve been with her then why be a bum if you want her to stay down then help her out. I know helping my partner will be a must, but I only wanted to know what value I will be getting. I don’t know if it luck; but it have worked out for me so far, and I am contented, I don’t need to say happy. I can’t say I have a struggle or struggles; because to achieve,or to get what you need, it’s about give y take. Sometimes it’s a little uncomfortable but not excessively uncomfortable. I have always said if you want in you have to be all the way in. Family and all. It is worth it. My two cents Norberis. And I wish other men would understand this. Hope you understand my point.

If you are looking to have fun, casual sex, both sides should be aware of it and behave accordingly. If a man fall in love with a woman that is financially unstable , the man should expect to contribute to her well-being if he has the means to do so. I agree with you. I have lived in a few Latin countries and the women I have delt with always needed money or would need it sometimes. Men need to study evolutionary psychology and learn intersexual dynamics, learn to vet women properly and see the situation through the right lens.
I had no problem paying for things because they stayed with me for prolonged periods of time. So it wasn't like I was dealing with a random woman, these women added value to my life and took care of things around the condo. Latin women are a lot easier to deal with than the American women. American women have the 3 traits that turn men off the fastest and they wave them like a badge of honor. Aggressiveness, entitlement and arrogance. Most American women are the bottom of the barrel.

What I noticed about so called black men in the US is that many of us don't put God first. We have been castrated mainly by our single mothers. To put God first means that as a man, you hold yourself accountable and responsible for everything you do in life. You also understand that no matter if you have been with a woman for two months or 20 years that a woman is an additional bill. The most important thing is that the woman is loyal and brings peace into your life not that she asks for money. Many guys come to Dominican Republic and meet a street girl, wife her, and then get on the internet and complain when she leaves them or he allows her to take all of his money.
There are so many beautiful single Dominican women that work at the airport, bank, police force, military, hotels, etc. Brothas don't go for those women. They go for the chicas they they meet in the clubs. They don't go for the one Dominican woman wearing the long dress and is covering herself, they go for the Dominican woman that is walking the street half naked. In the end, the owness and responsibility will always be on the man. I've been with my Dominican woman since 2019. Her family is from the countryside. They are very humble people. I go and stay with them which is about 45 minutes from San Juan De la Maguana. These are women that grew up around a long line of women that are hardworking and committed to their families.

It's not either or, the issue is in both scenarios both Dominican and American women expect the same things. The problem is men feel like it's a one way street because we're expected to be protectors and providers while basically getting nothing in return. If we expect a traditional women in the way they want a traditional man it's called "sexist" or "oppressive " which is a double standard. I don't think men have a problem being traditional as long as a woman is traditional as well.
