After re-visiting Ozark Distillery's Bourbon many times... I still find it enjoyable. Not overly complex, but just a very alluring experience every time
Donation days are on point! Liking the idea of seeing some of these smaller distilleries buried inside these states. Makes it easy to create a checklist for traveling! Cheers gents!
Still 630 is in my neighborhood. The whole operation is in an old Hardee's building. It's super cool looking too. Glad you guys got to try some of their stuff.
Me and my wife absolutely love Still 630. We are great friends with Dave! We got married at his distillery in October and actually convinced him to become ordained to do the service! You definitely need to look into his rare release batches, especially his 5 year cask strength Rallypoint!
DANIEL, YOU HAVE DEPRIVED REX OF A RIGHTFUL MOOCHING!!! On May 26, 2017, you promised a review of the fantastic Glenlivet Nadurra 16 Years of age. To my knowledge, no such thing has occurred yet! Rex is owed restitution!!!! Thanks for the various reviews this donation day, the Jura 7 Wood sounds reasonably good.
Hello from Kansas City! Rieger (Ree-ger) while tasty, does add a bit of sherry wine to the finished product, making it more of an American whiskey or ‘Kansas City whiskey’
I'd be really interested to see a couple of videos exploring Australian whiskies. I realise we don't have many, but there are a few distilleries really coming into their own recently. Also, if you guys ever do a video or two on gin, I have some suggestions you absolutely must try
Rex, to answer your question, "Rested American Whiskey" as defined by the taste test guy at Pinckney Bend is their corn liquor (shine, if you will) aged a year in small (15 gal?) new charred oak barrels
Imitation vanilla is byproduct of paper manufacturing, not just a clean extraction of vanillin (which would still be an inferior flavor but wouldn't be dangerous to consume)!
@@1218Draco precisely! What I'm saying is imitation vanilla is potentially toxic and shouldn't be thought of as a "clean extraction" of vanillin from wood.
Brett Nichols I only said it came from wood. You went overboard. Besides, Real Vanilla tastes better & is more real. Imitation is good for, say, brownies where vanilla plays second fiddle
Really enjoying "Daniel Month." FYI: "How to Drink" just did an Irish Whiskey tasting for St. Patrick's Day. Very different style, and added a lot of water, but fun video. Lots of the pour cam that you guys love.
as a St. Louisian, I guess it isn't too bad here xD weather is the epitome of midwest shenanigans though, bitter cold winters and soaking-ly humid and hot summers, with a week or two in between... if you ever pass through again, you should stop at the Gamlin Whiskey House, home of the Missouri Whiskey Society. Pretty cool place, fantastic selection, with monthly meetings and tastings. Some of the best steaks I've ever had as well
This is completely off topic with this video but I just started getting into whiskey and enjoy the channel. I bought Ardbeg and Laphroaig 10 which are now my favorites, what would you recommend for my next purchase?
Going by this video, I looked up the Eight Feathers whiskey... Wow. Those things on the side of the label look like ears of corn at best. At the same time, I'm now wondering of what it takes to get Rex & Daniel of make a Freudian analogy.
Speaking of Beam, I still think I would love to see your thoughts on the Beam Signature Brown Rice. They replaced the rye with brown rice and aged it 11 years. It is definitely Beam, but still very unique.
Hey guys love the channel. Daniel I actually really enjoy the journey through history of whiskey. I mainly drink scotch and bourbon talisker storm and compass box Glasgow blend being my go to scotches in New York being right under 40 dollars and eagle rare & Henry McKenna 10 yr under 35 dollars. Which is sad because I normally only have 40 dollars to spend on whiskey a month and really should be mooching but instead make drinks for others. Keep up the good work
Just FYI it’s pronounced R’ee’ger. Sadly the Rieger (hotel) just recently announced, due to Covid, they are indefinitely closing their restaurant which I assume means Manifesto, the speakeasy in the basement is no more as well. The distillery is happily still doing well. Also love Wood Hat. The owner and head distiller is so cool. A former peace corps volunteer that is making whiskey as a way to help boost the economy and be eco friendly in his rural community. His science and tech is super interesting.
Best whiskey channel...!! Love u bastards. I buy new whiskey then go back thru ur videos and find what I’m drinking. Would love a review of ur favs. Price point or best value to the top. Ok - legit question for Daniel - can there be some kind of “Whiskey Tribe Scholarship” for getting trained as a Whiskey Sommelier? Like... one person gets chosen a year to get a full ride to Sommelier training. Maybe ask every member of the tribe to give $1 a year exclusively for the scholarship? Maybe one would have to buy eligibility for the scholarship with $1 a year? Just spitballing here... thoughts?
I'm cat thing up on your videos, now that Notifications are On. Since it's FRIDAY, sunny, and warm, I'm opening my new bottle of Aberfeldy 12, "that I may drink with you."
Since we're stepping through whisk(e)y history for this very special Daniel Month, what would be the whisk(e)y equivalent of the idiomatic expression "the greatest thing since sliced bread"?
Was thinking for labels on blends, would it not be beneficial to have the youngest and oldest in the blend so they won't just have the youngest? I would think some whiskey snobs might not be so snoby.
Have they ever done a episode on non-alcoholic whiskies I think that would be great for somebody that maybe doesn't partake but loves the show or somebody that has a partner that loves whiskey but they don't drink for any particular reason may be a health reason or a personal life choice reason, I myself have just been diagnosed with diabetes and was informed not to drink on my new medication I just was curious if I was alone or if others were in my situation?
Is non-alcoholic whisky even a thing? I'm just curious, is it then a whisky where the alcohol has been distilled out again in some way? I can't imagine that being even remotely similar in that case? If you know of something please let me know :)
It's funny that when you guys talk about whiskey distilled from rice it's not whiskey. That SS Sorghum is distilled for that syrup you mentioned, not the actual grain.
"This is Wood Hat Whiskey..."...."There's more comfortable hats..." How did Daniel not laugh at that?!? He obviously doesn't listen to the Mooch at all!!! 😂😂😂
i know you Bastards don't shoot videos on weekends but one on your personal favorite irish whiskeys would be nice to see..considering its St patty's day

J. Rieger as far as i know is aging their own whiskey but until it can be released they are sourcing. Their regular whiskey is a blend of whiskey and sherry which they say is a throw back to pre-prohibition when the whiskey was so intolerable you had to add sherry to make it palatable. They wanted this style of whiskey/sherry blend to be called Kansas City style whiskey and petitioned the TTB.
cameron anderson - They've also got a Private Reserve at 100 proof that's half 8 year old bourbon and 8 year old rye all aged in a Sherry cask. It's a bit too much rye heavy for me, but you guys like rye a lot more than I do.
