How do you get it to follow your screen? I would like to screen record Excel tutorials but it only records the left part of my screen. When I click on something on the right side of the screen it doesn't show up in the final video
@@enerialufan Good question ✅
finally what i was looking for, after 5 guys were trying to teach me how to use the alt key to crop a window
Awesome glad this helped!
Same here bro @geek you are amezing 🎉
Wow this is perfect, was stumped for hours then this came to my rescue, thank you so much.
Awesome happy this helped you!
This was super helpful! I got stuck after changing the resolution. I didn't think to increase the screen size and slide the desired portion into the frame. Thanks!
Awesome glad this worked for you Matthew!
Man, this was a fantastic guide! Im starting out my channel and was wondering how vertical videos worked. Thanks so much.
Awesome glad this helped!
Thank you. I'm still a bit of a novice at OBS, but this was still quite simple to follow; thank you, very useful tutorial.
Sure thing glad these OBS videos helped you!
thank you so much, I was trying to find videos about how to make a youtube short on pc and they all said "you have to record in 1080x1920" but I had no idea how to do that. Thank you
Awesome glad this helped you 👍
This is my first insight into OBS ... something for the future for me.
Thanks for the clear explanation...
Sure thing you'll really enjoy using OBS!
💥 Wonderful. I mess with OBS for 8 years, but I never used it for vertical videos, so. I searched on RUclips. Thank you very much. 🎉❤
Awesome glad this helped you in OBS 😁
Thank you! This is going to make recording shorts so much easier!
You're most welcome glad this was helpful!
This video is the real deal. Others not so much. Thank you for showing exactly what I needed to do. :)
Sure thing glad this helped you! 👍
dude, you're a LIFE SAVER !!!!! Finally a vid that works..
Glad this helped you!
Extremely helpful and easy to understand! Thanks for the help
You're most welcome glad this helped!
On my OBS the Output Scaled Resolution is read-only and allows values from drop-down only?
Awesome ! Thank you for the great breakdown! Super simple to follow and comprehensive🔥🔥🔥
Sure thing glad this helped you 👍
This is exactly what I've been looking for.
When screen recording a vertical video on my PC, how do I see that what I'm doing on a different page is actually being recorded in OBS? ( As in how do I make sure I stay within the rectangle that OBS is focused on/ recording)
Hmmm you might need a second monitor so you would drag your OBS program there while recording on your main screen.
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand Thought as much, Thanks. Will do.
Finally I found this video😢☺️☺️☺️
😁😄🔥⚡
Explained really well and exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
Awesome glad this heped!
Everything so simple! Love learning with you man! You are one of the best ones out there 😁🙏
Much appreciated 😁
Thanks man! and here I thought I knew my way in OBS.
Sure thing and yeah I'm still learning stuff as there's so much that OBS offers.
Thank you so much for showing the 100% correct method ❤️❤️
Sure thing 😁
I did the same but my output video is stretched, what am I doing wrong?
Might wanna check output resolution in OBS. If it's still an issue, then not sure myself 🤔
Ok. So now I feel like such a Noob! Thanks so much for the tip!!
Sure thing glad this helped you 👍
Good tutorial, but the video is coming out looking very grainy and noisy, any way I can fix this?
Sure thing! Not really sure myself as my videos aren't coming out that way 🤔
Ty bro i always wanted this
Sure thing!👍
thanks man didnt even know that was something you could do .
No prob glad this helped!

Thanks a lot man. i finally got it working thanks to you. Peace!
Awesome glad this helped!
Thanks for the explanation. The quality of the output is not very clear! I tried changing the output file settings to large but no result! Is there a way to get best quality output?
Sure thing! Unfortunately, I'm not sure how else to improve the quality of you've already boosted quality output.
thank you bro!
💯
Thank you for taking the time to educate others
No problem glad this was helpful 😁
Amazing thank you!!!🎉🎉🎉
Most welcome glad this helped!
Thank you so much!
Most welcome!
thanks for your video but I have a question that The output of this video is not playing in iPhone, please tell any solution
Not sure as I do upload these Vertical videos to RUclips and Tik Tok and they look fine but I'm not sure how this will look on all phones out there from these platforms.
Thanks for the tuto ;) I was looking for that ;)
👍💯
The configuration is ok. But the output is horizontal. Do i need to make any aditional configuration?
Hmmm that's odd that your output is horizontal when you have vertical resolution Output. Not sure myself 🤔
On my OBS the Output (Scaled) Resolution is read only and allows value only from drop down?
That's odd🤔 As you can see from my video it is editable and you can put in different resolution values. I'm not sure why yours isn't unless maybe you're trying to change values while recording.
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand no, it's read only for me too. They changed the edit into a drop down box, only showing 16:9 values regardless of what you type in the base resolution.
Super helpful. Exactly what I needed. Thank you!
You're most welcome 💯
Thanks its working
Awesome glad this helped 😀
why i cant change output resolution by myself?? only can wide screen
Hmmm I'm able to change resolutions but not sure why you're not able to 🤔
Aw yeah! Just what I needed. Thanks
Sure thing glad this helped you!
Thanks man 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You're most welcome 😁
Thanks a ton!
Most welcome 💯
Hey, thanks a lot!
No problem Leandro!
Thank you!
Most welcome! 👍
Thanks!
You're most welcome 👍
I’ve done literally all of these steps, except every time I output this as an MP4 it seems to downgrade resolution and I have no idea why. I’ve even adjusted all the things correctlying in Settings > Output. CBR, 60k fps, all of that. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? It comes out looking like 720 even though all my settings seem to be correct.
I'm not sure myself as I use OBS regularly to make vertical videos/shorts 🤔
Dude you are. A life saver. Subbin
Thx glad this helped you 👍
works.. but I want to change it just per scene and not for all my other scenes. 1 scene i want full resolution and another vertical
Hmmm don't remember if that's possible beyond creating a different profile for different resolutions 🤔
it worked perfectly! thank you
Awesome glad this worked for you!
Thanks bro!
Most welcome! 😁
I really wish the output and canvas resolution changed along with the scenes but unfortunately it doesn't. It makes setting up a separate scene useless since I have to change the resolutions in the settings anyway.
Yeah me too it would make things more convenient.
same here
Huge thank you for this!
Sure thing glad this helped 👍
Thank you so much
Most welcome 😁
Nice, just unfortanate even with different profiles you have to readjust facecam and monitor everytime
Yup for sure 💯
Thank you I have searched this info for a long time. Especially with the browser resizing in the other video. Many people creates YT shorts and TikTok videos yet, not many info is out there how to do it on desktop.
However what I would truly happy about if there would be a capability, where I just select a rectangle on the screen/window of what I want to record and it would keep the 9:18 aspect ratio. I seems to be such an easy thing to code in a video recorder, yet I have not seen any free solutions for this.
Please share if you know such software.
Sure thing! I'm not sure of a software or way to do that myself 🤔
do you have a video how to add twitch overlays?
I'm not sure exactly of how to do that as I don't use Twitch but it seems that you could use a Website Link source. There's videos on RUclips that should show this.
Very helpful. Thank you very much!
You're most welcome 😁
thanks chief! have a sub
Most welcome and thx! 🔥
Thanks Dude
You're very welcome and glad this helped you!
Hello, this tutorial is great but i dont think its working for me. Ive been trying for a while now to get a vertical aspect ratio but every time i set it to 1080x1920 it doesnt look vertical. The sides get a little bit shorter but not 1080x1920. If you have a solution for this then let me know, Thanks.
Thx and that's odd that the resolution doesn't work. I've had no no issues so far and when I upload to RUclips, the vertical dimensions work for shorts
Thx very good vid
Thx glad this helped you 👍
thank you sooo much, this helped me out!
Glad this helped you and most welcome 👍
using this method, am i able to record vertical & horizontal at the same time?
Hmmm you could try using multiple profiles. I made a video below of this interested:
ruclips.net/video/d6w7_-FxSNg/видео.html
Thank you.
Your very welcome 😁
You really helped me out a lot, thank you so much
Awesome and most welcome!
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for :)
Awesome glad this helped!
Thanks a lot, it was very useful!
You're most welcome Valen!
thanks, Is there not a way to avoid the image been cut off from one end?
Sure thing Armando! Yeah cutoff/cropping can be an issue as the video is changing and I don't know of a way to track movement in OBS.
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand Thanks for your quick response
Yes yes yes!! Awesome! Thank you!
You're most welcome and glad this helped!
do you know what should i do if i want to do video call with virtual camera feature but it happens to display landscape instead of potrait
Hmmm not sure myself 🤔
Thanks alot! This will help me with future videos :3
Sure thing glad this helped!
Hey @Geekoutdoors, I followed your Guide, however, the issue I'm facing is that I can only manually edit the "Base Canvas Resolution" into 1080x1920, however, the Output Scaled Resolution, I can only use the dropdown options and no chance of changing the figures manually and making it 1080x1920. What am I missing?
Hmmm that's odd as I was able and still able to adjust manually 🤔
try deleting OBS and doing it again, May Allah bless your heart!
Thank you
Most welcome 👍
Thanks, that was a big help!
Sure thing Carson glad this helped!
thank you a lot! Super simple
Sure thing glad this helped 👍
Thanks for posting this. :)
Sure thing 👍
Hello , how do you put the canvas screen fully on your iMac ?
Not sure as I don't have Apple products.
Thanks
You're most welcome!
How do I make my webcam picture round like you did?
I created a video on this below:
ruclips.net/video/b7Z2o2I9sf0/видео.html
thx, you r great bro.. keep it up!
You're most welcome and glad this helped!
im so confused. when hit record it shows in the obs its a normal portait format. but in my stream when other people watching its stretched.
Yeah that's odd and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with platform resolution settings? 🤔
I managed to do these things but when I uploaded it to youtube, it never recognised it as a short. It was in portrait and only 48 seconds long. Can you advise why this might happen?
That's really odd and I'm not sure as I upload shorts regularly as well 🤔
@Geek Outdoors I got round the problem by transferring video to my phone and uploaded from phone, which then worked.
apologies if u already mentioned it in the video but I have a question. when I open my exported video in apps like capcut, it just turns out as a regular rectangle video with a vertical window (the rest is like a black frame). do u know how to fix this? because when I zoom in to the vertical area the quality drops
Amazing, Thank you.
Your very welcome 😁
TL;DR = Type the resolution in... who would have thought lol the UI doesn't look like a input box
Lol True😁
Omg tysm this helped me a lot
Glad this helped you 👍
The sad thing is, when i change the view to vertical, it changes all my other scenes to vertical too, but i dont want that it even happens when i lock them. PLS tell me how to fix this
Unfortunately the same thing happens to me so what I do is create a separate vertical profile when I need vertical videos. And you're right, it does change all scenes.
Sir i was recording a video from chrome and i was multitasking and ita window capture was on but when i multitask the chrome screen becomes blur do u have any solution for this because i want to record and multitask as well i have 16 gb ram
Hmmm not sure myself on that 🤔
This video predates the Insta360 Link but is there a way to change the orientation just for the webcam?
Hmmm not sure on that myself 🤔
Does output mode in Obs needed to be Advanced? I can't change it to vertical... TIA!
Hmmm you would go to Video options to change Output resolution.
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand thanks i will try! Hope I can do portrait later 😄
thank you, very helpful 😁
Sure thing Gus 👍
can we add some images or overlay to cover those two side screen cuz when i upload on youtube it shows the two blacks bars on the side as well
Well in that case your profile would have to be a standard widescreen project and then you'd have to crop the video vertically so it wouldn't truly be a vertical video.
