That's what's so unfortunate. Losing Chojiro completely destroyed his calm. Aizen would have destroyed this Yamamoto. Likewise, FK Yamamoto would have destroyed Royd/Yhwach without even bothering with Bankai
@@NotGahruvey to be fair chojiro didn't know how strong ichigo was so he just used his shikai and got punched, if he used bankai he maybe could have beat soul society ichigo since we know bankai chojiro can damage someone as strong as yama(he was young but still)
Remember that the reason Yhwah didn't fight Genryuusai himself and have sent a copy instead is because he knew Genryuusai would crush him without Yhwah knowing Genryuusai's powers and being able to plan everything beforehand. Just let it sink in. Yhwah was forced to be cautious. That Yhwah who casually strolled into the Palace of the Soul King and fought Squad Zero right away was forced to be cautious with the circumstances in which he was facing Genryuusai. That's how powerful Head Captain Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni really is.
Ywach could've possibly used Discroll to provoke Yama by killing Chojiro and using that hard-earned bankai. If Yama wasn't blinded by rage, he may be able to see the difference in reiatsu between Ywach and Royd (the impostor) .. So I concluded that Ywach actually used three phases: Phase 1: Discroll - provoke Yama Phase 2: Royd - drain all Yama's strength and energy Phase 3: Execute. Just my POV.
Do you realise that Yhwach would have just stolen his bankai from the get go and obliterate him? And before you say that without the medallion he prepared he could not do it, the medallion was based on his technique to take others powers, the one he uses against ichibe to steal his shikai. So medallion or not, he can simply take Yama power on his own.
@@jasperjao6476 it’s literally a Yhwach ability to steal others powers, plus Yhwach was still without his strongest power that would have obliterated Yamamoto.
Yama was just too badass. Ywach the "Allmighty" the man who cut down ichibe, had to trap the old GOAT and force him to use and drop his bankai just to get him. Forever the best old man in anime

I really do hope we get a bigger look into the past going forward. We never get to see Yamamoto on a more personal level and these scenes with Chojiro and Kyoryaku elevate him so much for me, I want more. Nope. He first looks worried (and we see why in the flashback). Then he looks at the power of this bankai version and closes his eyes like saying "that's not even close to what caused me that scar". He basically evaluates it better, after a first worrying reaction, and due to his experience with chojiro is able to determine that he doesn't have to worry. It was definitely "relative" to him in power, at least enough to damage his clothing. Unless he dropped his defenses on purpose. Remember Aizen took a 90s level sacrificial hadou from Yamamoto and his clothes were charred the same way; maybe less-so. IMO there's nothing wrong with Sasakibe being a low-tier lieutenant in shikai but having a demigod level bankai. Bankai aren't necessarily limited to a 10x boost, and some of them are reality bending in ways that transcend power.
Even if Yamamoto had his arm back and use one of those pils so that his Bankai had Hollow Reiatsu so Yhwach could not steal his Bankai,he has his ultimate cheat skill,so he stil would win.
"I SHALL SPEND MY ENTIRE LIFE HONING THIS CHARACTER AND BANKAI FOR NO SCREEN TIME AND TO DIE TO MY OWN ABILITY BY A GUY THAT THEN IMMEDIATELY DIES AFTERWARDS!"
Unohana didn't utter the words for nothing: "End it before you turn Sereitei itself in ashes." (One of the best lines that describe god level power imho.) Cuz his flames could incinerate the entirety of Soul Society if active for too long.
Ichigo is just that strong. Remember Ulquiorra said he was stronger than him when his hollow wasn't getting in the way (when his emotions weren't holding him back). Ichigo got more powerful during the Arrancar arc but a LOT of it was retracing his footsteps and learning to fight without his inner demons taking over. IMO the Ichigo that fought Byakuya in bankai would have done a lot better against Grimmjow than when we first saw Ichigo fight him.
Ok for all those who are saying Yhwach had to be cautious while fighting Yamamoto and he sent loyd royd to drain Yamamoto energy that is not true. Firstly remember Yhwach was not using his schrift here because of the cooldown period of 9years. If he had his schrift activated yamamoto would have been killed even before he could utter the word 'bankai'. Secondly Yhwach is still strong enough even without his schrift to take down Yamamoto. Royd loyd came just bcuz yhwach went to talk to aizen. Yhwach can take Yamamoto down easily he doesn't need someone to drain Yamamoto's power.
Base Yhwach ain't anywhere NEAR strong to take down Yama without Almighty, or by stealing Yama's power. Yama 10/10 times break Yhwach ass low to no diff.
It's probably relative to who he kills. But the power gap for the higher captains is so great that he probably wouldn't match Yamamoto just by killing fodder or even lieutenants and weaker captains. He'd have to work his way up killing Kyoraku, Ukitake, and Unohana first just to stand a chance against Yamamoto. And he'd probably have to kill a bunch of low-mid tier captains just to stand a chance against those three first. Would have been satisfying to see him go further with it, but alas.
then he gets easily halved in two... His ending was quite disappointing.. i expected so much more from him.. He should have been able to hold head to head with the strongest people..
That's why he got killed, because he will be too strong in the last battle at least against the elite sternritter, if he got the anti bankai stealing pill. And yamamoto dead is the best choice he can do, he choose to drawback his sword so he can die faster, so yhwach doesn't need to use his stolen bankai against him, considering It can destroy seretei easily and kill all the captain around. But I think in the next hell arc he will come again, they tease us that he is alive in hell.
Actually Yhwah conformed that himself. He did say in the manga if I remember correctly that he needed to send a copy and learn all of Genryuusai's abilities beforehand, because without that knowledge anbd Yhwah being able to plan the fight beforehand Genryuusai would certainly win.
