Another bench is a good idea. The blue willow plates are great! I also am huge fan! I would also look fir a blue and white indoor outdoor rug under the table! Follow your instincts your a natural!

I love your renovation and colors. You sort of tossed out “what do you think” concerning your dining room window. You have blinds to control the light, so you have the opportunity to add a high-end look in your dining room. Extend the rods almost to the ceiling to add height to your room, and hang them so your drapes frame rather than cut off room light (extend the rods past the window onto the wall. The hem should fall TO the floor, not puddled, not high-water. This is how they don’t become an afterthought but become a part of an orderly statement. The color of drapery is your choice, but if the room is smallish rather than lavish, you might keep the tone similar to the dining room walls. Keep in mind what is going on in the line of sight, like do you see the hall or living room or kitchen. Tying the colors together in tonality or color helps keep your home cohesive rather than disjointed.

Nice job. I would leave the bench white, but why don't you paint the 2 chairs blue picking up a shade from your blue willow plates. It would give the room a pop of color and be very country. 😊

      Love this idea.
Anything you put back into the the recessed window wells is going to make the room look smaller and less grand. Maybe just shears on either side and a nice soft pastel seafoam green like the pot color you have there in the windowsill? Or possibly a soft, muted blue?

You can disguise the soffit above the cabinets and make the cabinets look like they reach all the way to the ceiling very easily and inexpensively. All you need to do is add crown molding around the top of the soffit where it reaches the ceiling. Then you paint the crown molding and the soffit below it the same color as the cabinets.

Piper is so cute!! Pets bring so much love to our homes!! I had a dark kitchen once upon a time. I hated the kitchen wallpaper so much that the thought of being stuck in the house one more long Northeastern winter was going to drive me crazy! On a weekend I got the walls painted white! Unfortunately I used a flat white leftover from the ceiling and it sucked the life out of the room!!! On the next weekend I had to paint the walls again but with some sheen!! What a big difference!! Thankfully the paint on the walls did the trick and I didn't need to paint my cabinets! It's always amazing how wonderful a coat of paint can change things in a room!! Love all of the lightness and brightness you have now!! The plants are a wonderful addition too!!

As you know, I Love the things you do!!❤ The things you asked about? I liked the color of the chairs better than the bench-the chairs have a subtle hint of green that pops it out to me against the wall. Goes with brighter green pots and your Lovely large window sill for your lovely plants & pots!! Loving them pots & watering system!! I know you love the blue plates, but just my opinion, I Love how
Special and different they look from just walking into the room from a distance!! To me they look all the same, so I wouldn’t be o cloned to go up and see the diff colors & patterns & design!! I do like them but not all together. Hope that does not offend you, just diff style. A set of 3 on a shelf for 3 where the mail was would be great with repurposed corbels and some small fake succulents? To bring your garden into kitchen? Love your table runner &
So happy that you have kept for all the years!!! I got a copy of French Country magazine-def a bit pricy-but cover was blue and greens & was thinking of you!!! I did the blue & green color scheme in the early 2000’s but more on the 1940-1950’s look of nowadays “old school” Cadillacs, the old school silver diners, etc. The new blues &
Greens are so much more fibrant with a subtle touch!! Sorry for misspelling still doing with 1 hand!! Ugh!! 💓🌺🪴💓

Oh my word, all this is so gorgeous. Your sweet Piper looks exactly like our granddaughter dog. If I didn’t know better, I would think they were the same doggie other than their tails. Our dogs tail wasn’t short like Pipers. Unfortunately, we had to put her down last July. She was 14, and was so pitiful. She got sick and we kept hoping she would come out of it. She is buried under the pear tree that she loved to lay under when she was able. There is a beautiful headstone with her healthy life photo on it, and our daughter keeps flowers on her grave. She was a sweetie. Sorry for the sad story. I love your updates, you know that. Can’t wait till the next one.

Beautiful refurb, Corey. :) Agree about tweaking the window treatments for the 'eat-in'........I can really see some kind of cool Roman Shades for texture/uniqueness, since those windows are so 'up close and personal' to where people sit/hang out. Also agree 1000% about painting being the most dramatic and cost efficient way to update a space. And for those purists who aren't thrilled about covering that dark stained wood; it's still there should one decide to unearth it in the years to come. For now, it brings light and joy to the young Family who are its current caretakers. :) Blessings, Corey. Everything looks great. :)

The attached dining room has white fake beadboard on bottom and the walls are a very pale gray. My house has a lot of rustic wood beams and ceiling, so the white and pale gray gives you a lift. *Cory, I am so glad you DIDN'T PAINT that GORGEOUS DOOR to your laundry room...it's a beautiful door, and with the rest of the paneling and trim white, it makes a lovely old-world statement, IMHO.🥰 Blue and white 💙🤍💙 is one of my FAVORITE COLOR COMBINATIONS, and I personally L🔵VE and own Blue Willow dishes. Your beadboard plate rack is so lovely; your husband did a fabulous job building it and hanging it for you❣️🤍🦋🙉 As for the window 🪟 treatments, I agree with Janet Byrne...install curtain rods near the ceiling and have the bottom of the curtains just BARELY SKIM your floor (NO puddling!) Use white curtains, and for a hint of royal blue, add a long strip of toile fabric in royal blue and white about 4 inches wide on the center of each curtain panel and the same toile fabric 6 inches tall at the bottom of your curtain panels. It will look like an "L" shape on the right side panel and a reverse "L" on the left side panel. Your hydrangea wreath is lovely on your door. I don't know if you wish to carry the royal blue color 🔵 into your kitchen, but if you do, you could get a royal blue hand soap dispenser to use at your sink. You could also thrift some pieces like white pitchers, an old silver tea pot or vases and paint them white and decoupage blue and white napkins over the white paint to create your own inexpensive "Chinoiserie look" pieces to display on top of your refrigerator or on your countertops. I have seen several RUclips creators take tarnished silver-plated coffee pots and painted the bodies white, leaving the spout, handle and lid unpainted and adding the decoupaged napkin over the white body, and it was very pretty❣️ I have also seen tarnished silver-plated trays with only the center part of the tray painted white and decoupaged with a blue and white napkin, while leaving the outside edges tarnished silver. 😊*

Absolutely gorgeous! You already had a beautiful kitchen but I don't like dark spaces either, simply amazing what a good job you guys did with spray paint and I didn't know that could ever be done. I wish I had such a large kitchen, it's just awesome! My kitchen cabinets need to be repainted but the cabinets are old however you have inspired me to possibly tackle that project even though I am 69 years old because I am sick of looking at scuffed up cabinets!!

Wow great renovation, its amazing what paint can do. Your countertops, backsplash and Cabinets are almost exactly the same as in my house, they must have been done around same time. lol, I'm thinking of painting my cabinets white / ivory also. Thank you for sharing,it really helped me see what it would look like, and I love it. My kitchen is much smaller, but like you I need it to be brighter. Thanks again from Tyler texas

This is so encouraging to me! My fiancé and I are redoing part of the kitchen before our wedding, and the long-term plan is to paint the cabinets white. The countertops are black, the appliances and sink are black, and the cupboards are an ashy dark brown - it’s like a cave! I’m so happy to see how much lighter your rooms are- it helps me to visualize how much brighter ours will be, too!

It looks beautiful. It does light up. I had to do the same thing. I think me because I was getting older. I need the light from my eyes lol so we just painted our bedroom a bright white satin finish and we put the trim but only the facing of the trim, a matted black, and then I did curtains of course, and then we loved it so much that we put that into the dining room the curtains in the dining room ARE FROM WALMART.,but we did white walls and black trim only the facing windows and the trim but not the door the door stay white me too. I don’t have open Concept either . My house is 1925 but because it looks so fresh and the color can come in from the accessories, I want to do the entire house WHITE 👍🏽

It looks so much better & brighter. As I get older I have to paint the rooms in a color that lends more light. For the eyesight & yes to pops of color in the decor. Not white on white! I can't do that. I have to have my color. Or everything just blends together & gets boring. In my opion. The durability of enamal oil paint can't be beat. But it is hard to paint with. I use it on appliances & any cabinet that I paint. But usually in a texture look. Because its hard to keep from getting runs. I can't tell you how many old fridges I have painted. That metal affects I believe its rustolem. Comes in a spray can. Rolling it on is tough.

@@DesertDIY yes, tons of experience. Paint is the best invention man or woman ever made. A way to bring all things back to life & so many differnt kinds & ways to do so. I ran a daycare center once upon a time. And painted every square inch. My contractor said if you hold still Violet will paint you! True story! Lol. ♡

When I was a kid, we moved to Houston in 1970 into a similar house with lots of brown paneling. Every few years my mom would use Liquid Gold , which was a conditioning oil, on all the paneling, wiping it on, letting it soak in, and then wiping it off. It did not smell that great. As my sister and I got older, we were recuted to wipe off the paneling. I could never convince her to paint it.
