I used to be a NEET for a while after dropping out of college multiple times.. I thought I would have never found a suitable job since I have no college papers and I was diagnosed with Aspergers to boot.. but I kept trying different jobs.. first I worked in retail for a while and I even became an appentice woodworker for a short time.. but the money for that kind of work doesn't pay well where I'm at and in my opinion isnt sustainable for me.. but lo and behold I came across a program for hiring people under the spectrum.. I signed up and now I'm working in cyber security.. it's not a perfect job but I've never been this stable in my life before.. I just finished my 6 months probation here and recently got confirmed so I just wanted to say I'm PROUD of you for getting at where you are at the moment!

I like the moment when you talk about complacency.
When my mom was learning to drive, my dad as the good moron he was never cared about helping her and giving tips, so since she was afraid of going too fast and causing an accident, at some point she figured out that driving in the second gear was easy for her. The problem is, she would ONLY use the second gear. And thats how she would drive for a long time until my grandpa started helping her improve her driving.
I think just like in that story, the thing about becoming complacent about our drawing applies: if youre afraid of making a mess and always do the same thing that has worked in the past, sometimes the last thing you found is not even really a good way to do it, despite the fact that it worked, so even if you might be afraid of making mistakes, challenge yourself from time to time! Your drawing skills need that healthy dose of discomfort. Ganbare! 💪

That drawing was very good in my humble opinion for straight pen, no pencil/eraser. Artists are often so hard on themselves because they always seek perfection. Keep up the great work. You've motivated me to draw every day again

self-worth is one of the hardest things to struggle with. were naturally communal and how others see us affects us more than we'd like to admit. I think it just comes down to belief, in yourself and in the path, you've chosen to take. got to be completely honest, I'm 40 and I've never heard the term neet before your videos, but I don't think anyone with any respect will say you aren't if you identify as that. sorry about the rambling but hopefully that made sense lol. I enjoy your content and look forward to what's next for you and your channel!

DUDE Ghost in the Shell was AMAZING. The manga was not so good as the anime, the history and art direction the the anime was soooo much colder and dark and technical, it was amazing. On the other side though, the artist did some awesome mechanical design work on his drawings. Man I miss that kind of anime, they tried to reboot it in a more child friendly way though so meh. Damn... put a little lofi music and I feel like I'm watching Bob Ross, having a good time, chilling, thinking with the artist. Keep it up girl!

    • @NINJA_OUTLAW420
      @NINJA_OUTLAW420 8 месяцев назад +1

I love drawing with pen but yea dang proportions are quite annoying for me I never get it right on the first try, I’ll draw an arm way too short or long or a leg way too big or small etc. I hate the dang proportions of stuff sometimes!😂 as much as I like drawing with pen I think I will start lightly drawing with pencil so I can make and fix mistakes like with getting proportions right for example, then I can go back over it with pen. Maybe thats a bit obvious perhaps, but I just hope maybe it helps friend :)

Speaking of attention, I'm not at all surprised that you have a sudden influx of it. You not only give great advice for art and life (as well as ample inspiration for people like me that need it), but you are greatly underestimating how incredibly relatable you are. :)

Its been a while since I did any sketches. Only did when pen and paper were already in my hand, as in, the middle of class. Its nice to actually go and look for some paper and a pen--usually an equivalent to the one u r using which I already have somewhere in my room--and just draw. Draw, and that being the goal. Not just doing it because Im already halfway there and it is convenient. Not being so complacent. Spicing it up a little.

ty very much for all of your videos and artwork :) I really resonate with your philosophy on life/art. I think one of the most beautiful things about creative outlets is that, when you commit to them, they can teach you so much. I make music mainly, but also enjoy photography, video making, writing, and i’m trying to learn more about drawing, which is how i found ur channel.
I’ve noticed that all of these interests were there since I was a kid, it’s just that i never fully pursued them for one reason or another. As an adult, all of these hobbies are so nurturing. I might not like everything i make, but just the fact that i tried is enough. There is always something to learn, and when i do make something i like, the feeling is so gratifying; those are some of the few moments where i can feel really content. i might grow to cringe at something i made previously, but i can still appreciate it in a way.
If you pursue any kind of art, you naturally learn a lot. You have to expose yourself to new things and commit to continual learning, which is good for living life in general and contributes to a sense of happiness in my opinion. When we start defining ourselves by what we make however, we naturally let ourselves down, as perfectionism can easily tarnish the integrity of what we make, and is definitely harmful to ourselves because we are so much more as human beings than just what we can produce. I often get caught in some perfectionist ways of thinking when it comes to making things, but part of the process as an artist is learning how to deal with all that. In learning to do so, we can become kinder to ourselves and others. I’m glad you’re getting an audience who can appreciate what you make. One of the best things as an artist is when your art can help other people, so i’m excited for you.
I’ve never been a NEET, at least for anytime longer than about half a year, but i resonate with the things you say. I think I remember you mentioning that you’re Buddhist, which I am as well. Im not sure how you integrate that into your life or how seriously you practice, but i recommend the text Tenzo Kyōkun, which is meant to be a set of instructions for the head cook of a Zen monastery, but applies to many aspects of life; i think it speaks a lot to the nature of creative outlets.
Please keep up with these vlogs when u can! I’m starting to look forward to these as i’ve been watching them almost every day this past week. I would appreciate some tutorial videos if you ever feel up for it, but make whatever you feel like making. Happy for your recent success and wishing you all the best!
(not just trying to plug myself, but i put up music every now and then on my channel. I still have a lot to learn but my creative outlets mean a lot to me and i might start posting about things other than music at some point, similar to what u do. Not expecting u or anyone to be into what i make, but just thought i’d mention)

Not sure if you are familiar with the Erma comics by Brandon Santiago (the man and his Outcast Studios deserve more recognition) but your hairstyle and the tired zombie kind of persona you sometimes utilize in your vids reminded me of her (The spooky wind gusts in the ambient of this vid seem to fit as well). Just discovered your channel. Also a NEET, borderline hikikomori on disability. I get flown out by family to see them twice a year so I don't know if it counts because I can cope with the airport -- but going to the corner store is still a struggle due to anxiety.
The days are often very blurry and stressful, and sometimes I go a few weeks without seeing sunlight. Seeing someone succeed with their special interest gives me a feeling of hope.
I'm going to double down on my mecha game stuff and try to produce something more presentable that can eventually be sold.
I miss drawing a lot, and it was something I did a great deal of. I don't know why it became so difficult.

The RUclips universe needs a greater number of understanding, empathic, and inspiring content creators like Alisa Chung. My main goto topics on YT are tech, science, comedy, and social justice. With that said, it is both a joy and an inspiration to stumble upon thoughtful content creators. 🌸

Not trying to flirt with you imma just be real with you right now.
I was like you for a awhile. Im glad that you are being honest with you viewers that you have been going through this.
Instead of being fake and sensational, you make your videos authentic and sentimental. A nice change to the youtubers who put on a a fake persona.
Anyways, hope you are doing better and content like this, will always have a place in my heart since I have been there.
EDIT:My best advice is to look for mentors and people who went through this. Find supportive friends and people who make you happy. This too shall pass.

Also, do not be too hard on yourself.
I just watched some videos on your channel and you definitely have talent. The thing is people do not actually know they have talent until they put themselves out there.
You were brave enough to do stuff in the past and you will surely do better things in the future.
