I came across this video last month and I followed EVERYTHING you said to the T and GIRL!!!! My silk press came out so niceee!!!! I used to put oil, leave in, water, and oil heat protectant when i did my "silk press" in the past 😭😭 This time I bought a serum and only used a lil bit and the difference was MAJOR. THANK YOU🥹😁
Great tips!! I know I’m guilty of too much product!! I always tell my hairstylist that my hair never turns out close to how nice it does when she does my hair and the first thing she always mentions is how much product I use. 😂 I need to pull back on that and possible try the chase method. Thank you for all the tips, very helpful!!
I recently started doing the “chase” method and it’s a game changer! I bought a heat resistant 2 sided comb that’s made for the “chase” method from Amazon
I just bought an electric hot comb and skipped the flat iron mixed with rat tail comb altogether. The hot comb gets my hair much silkier, straighter and softer with a lower temperature than the flat iron.
These are great tips! I wanted to mention that I do the chase method with a men’s bristle brush because I can get more strands of my hair more thoroughly since more bristles are going through them.
I went out and bought some of the products from your My Favorite Products of 2023 (the Pantene Rescue Shots, Verb Ghost Oil, Verb Dry Ghost Oil, and the TPH Leave in). I then watched this videos while rewashing my hair. I noticed I needed to clean my flat iron bad and also realized I was doing too big of sections of hair. I just did a small section with the comb through method and my hair has never moved like it is now. I’m going to be patient and continue but it’s silky and flowly already just from watching both this video and your favorite products of 2023 video!! Thank you so so much!!!!!
I'm guilty of using TOO much product, but at the same time I'm TERRIFIED of heat damage because we know what comes next. SCISSORS. I've already been struggling with hair growth due to inconsistency. My hair has been the same length for YEARS.
You have to use heat protectants!! I have clients that like to wear their hair straight and natural. And the only way to keep them from having heat damage is by using heat protectants. Every time you shampoo your hair, your curls should all be the same. If it’s kinky at the roots, and the rest of the hair shaft is wavy, you have heat damage!
Thank you so much! I am guilty of doing wrong all you said. I corrected everything and my hair turned out bouncy thick shining and so smooth. God bless you for ur inform videos!
This is a GREAT video! Thank you so much for all these gems, I did my hair today and its the BEST it ever came out😩 I was wayyyy to heavy handed with my heat protectant and leave in. I also deep cleaned my tools to be sure. (I also suspect my sections were a lil too big) I used its a 10 leave in, chi silk serum and a lil biosilk, then I styled with the tymo blow dryer and flat iron comb, when I was done 🤯😱 sis the bodyyyyyyy😩 finallyyyyyy😭
Thanks for sharing the products you used. I just flat ironed my hair and although it’s lightweight, it’s super frizzy. I watched another video that mentioned using three products while the hair is damp. Similar to what you did. Going to try this next time.
Thank you so much!!!! You helped me see that I was using way too much product. I followed your advice yesterday and my hair came out just as I wanted!!!! You are truly a blessing!!!
This was a great video! I had an easier time straightening my hair when it was shorter. It’s longer now and I’m learning patience with it. I’m not big on my curls right now. Hoping to wear it out tomorrow for a concert.
These were some really solid tips. It bothers me when I see people flat iron product heavy hair, lol. I don't see the point and it's like you're flat ironing product instead of hair. I'm the same, if I can feel that my hair is too heavy I won't even bother flat ironing it and it will be a bun for the week. Great video 💜
Also, my stylist informed me not to use Boar-bristle brushes because they can snag your hair, but to use a Denman or similar brush. My hair is pressed bi-weekly with a Hot-Comb & silky & colored! (SN: But my stylist has also been in the game for 21 years.)
I already straightened my hair twice within this same week and it's still giving kinky blowout vibes. After years of wigs and fenugreek my hair is finally ALMOST THERE to the middle of my back (its shoulder length in its blow out state) and I'm so excited to show off and feel good, but between my tymo straightening brush and my big sisters flat irons I don't know who's winning or losing. Please send backup.
My go to flatiron is the GHD platinum plus. Please try not to flatiron too much or else all your head work is going to get fried! I’d also look at your blow dry technique. The straighter you can get your blow dry the better your flatiron will turn out. Also, idk where you live but if it’s warm and summer like weather I’d honestly give it a rest and wear protective styles until it cools down in the fall/the humidity is gone. That’s what I do every summer
@@NiaraAlexis thank you so much! I'm a Chicago native, the weather here is bipolar. It literally was 80 degrees last week and then we had snow and rain by Sunday, look it up if you don't believe me 😭. But yes all these tips look fabulous thank you so much 💓
@@far6311 I live in chicago too! The weather has been crazy lately 😩. I’d also try a reversion product like the color wow dream coat. Otherwise I’d try to give it a break until the cooler months. So let me get this straight. To silken your hair one needs to: •Throughly wash their hair. •Use a liquid like leave in( no heavy cream) •Us a heat protectant that is liquid as well preferably the one that comes in a spray bottle. (If you only have a serum use a tear drop) •Throughly blow dry •Flatiron transparent parts of hair. How does one combat humidity though?

@@lexnthecityyy ok. Those sound good. Might want to try chasing to see if they helps and make sure your ends are clipped. Also I’d look at how big your section are. If your hair is puffy you might need to flat iron smaller sections to get all the hair striaght
Yeah I tried to hot comb and flatiron and definitely used to much product but my goal was to get it straight (even though it looks blow dried now😂) to I can cornrow it down for my wigs but I’ll try to use less product next time
Lmao Im a guy and I just took out 3 week old braids washed my hair yesterday. Today I did a blowout with my blow-dryer and then put a ton of leave in and heat protectant in when I did the blowout then more heat protection before flat ironing my hair is mostly straight and feels super moisturized and not damaged but it's not flowy I definitely see like half my strands still have texture to it 😂
You have a keratin treatment.. that’s a different result than just natural, ….but definitely less is best.. clean hair great conditioner cool rinse..and a little weightless heat protector serum
Can you please do a winter routine for relaxed hair? Humi ty causes th flat ironed or blown out hair to reverse. What to do? What hairstyles are you best? Can you do another video for different hairstyles for relaxed hair? Thank you🤍✨️
They are made of plastic, so hot water is very bad to clean them with. I clean mine with vinegar and baking soda, Isopropyl alcohol and a little non-toxic (plant-base) soap or hydrogen peroxide and a little (plant-base) soap. They work very good.
Once I start the flat ironing process, my hair doesn’t come out silky. I used a heat protectant with shine serum. My silk press comes out like it is still blow dried. I don’t know what I am doing wrong still. I have thick natural hair and I use the hairatage. It basically takes me all day to silk press my hair.
If your hair is still puffy like a blow dry you might me flat ironing sections that are too big & maybe need a higher heat setting. Silk presses generally need a higher heat temp to achieve the look. But it all depends on what works for your hair. I’m able to achieve the look with a temp of 365-370 you might need more or less.

The best way to get movement is to wash, deep condition, use a quality hair oil (like Jamaican Black Castor oil), blow dry, then flat iron. Works every time.
I don’t use a silk infusion. I think the flat iron does matter especially if you have natural hair. Mine is relaxed so most flat irons will give me a silky result
Okay so what if it’s your first time in a few years doing a silk press and your hair is very dry and thick and also low porosity. How would I go about it getting silky straight. I flat iron the first time and it was straight but very pouffy
Ok so I think what you have to remember is a silk press is a bit more than just flat ironing the hair. It’s making sure you get every strand straight from root to tip. If you’re not chasing your hair that’s a big thing that can change your silk press. (I’ll have a video on that coming soon!) if your hair is dry make sure you are treating it with deep conditioner & moisturizing but light weight products. Also when I want my hair very silky I use a higher heat temperature. I usually stay around 350 or so but will increase that closer to 400 to get a very silky look. Also make sure you are taking your time and pressing out small sections at a time especially for thicker hair. ❤️
My grandma pressed our hair bone straight and shiny with only a pressing comb, a little pressing oil, the stove and a towel. No blow dry. And the towel was used in place of the rat tail comb and/or brush. This new age stuff is a lot more unnecessary work.
Hey! I read all of the comments so that I don’t ask something you’ve already answered. 🙈 I just silk pressed my hair and it poofed up in less than ten minutes after being done. I washed with OUIA detox shampoo, conditioned with The Doux and added Colorwow prior to blow drying. Then I used Olaplex no7 bonding oil before flat ironing. After reading your comments, I am thinking I should have also added a leave in because the OUIA did dry my hair out a bit. I am also thinking that I could have gotten my hair straighter after blow drying as well. I might need a new technique because I thought I was using enough tension. But maybe not. My question is: is it safe for me to do another pass or should I try again after my next wash? Oh! And I just left Sephora, and apparently there is a color wow specifically for curly hair. I checked the one o have at home and it’s the kind of all hair types. So maybe I’ll try the o e specifically for curly hair. 🤷🏽♀️ But yeah, second pass or just start over?
Hi! I personally wouldn’t do a second pass and just wait until the next wash day. Also, when you were blow drying and flat ironing your hair did it feel weightless? That a sign for me if it will last or not. But I am also relaxed. I would try a leave in I have a few in my Amazon storefront that I like. How that helps!
@@NiaraAlexis Thank you so much for such a prompt reply. 🙇🏽♀️✨ My hair felt weightless after blow drying and flat ironing. (For the most part). It has a lot of volume and definitely has a lot of movement. It looks like a blow out, which is what I was going for (just not after I pass the flat irons through 🥴😂). I ended up slicking the front edges down and wearing a band so that it’s slick on the edges and “blown out” in the back. It’s cute, so I’ll roll with it. May hair isn’t relaxed. Thanks again so much for taking the time to respond and engage with us. I am going to see about following you on IG. God bless and may we all continue to take care of ourselves from the inside out (with a dab of leave in. 😂). 🙇🏽♀️
I know I’m late to the party but if you are using enough tension when you use your blow dryer and your flat iron, then why don’t you go ahead and purchase some humidity hairspray. That might help a lot.
Well for 1 I’m relaxed so I know that plays a major part. 2 try the colorwow dreamcoat I’ve heard it works good on natural hair too if you are! 3 I religiously wrap my hair every single night. I have a hair maintenance video up too to show what I do during the week ruclips.net/video/jBWvvWO9Uac/видео.html
I just wash my combs and brushes in the sink with dish soap. I think dish soap is ideal because it doesn’t include any softening ingredients, just surfactants.
I wipe my flat iron down with an alcohol wipe every time before I use it! Leaves no residue and works like a charm.
Ooo I need to try that!
@@NiaraAlexis You’ll love it!
Btw, is the Ghost Oil what makes your hair so glossy?? It’s gorgeous!

Thank you so much for this video! I learned a lot! Time to get silk pressing!
You’re welcome! ❤️
Yeah I tried to hot comb and flatiron and definitely used to much product but my goal was to get it straight (even though it looks blow dried now😂) to I can cornrow it down for my wigs but I’ll try to use less product next time
This video was great + you have beautiful skin !
Thank you so much!!
I love your video straight forward and educational.
Thank you! ❤️
LOVE THIS TEACHING VIDEO!! THANK YOU!!!
This was so helpful ❤️❤️
Its usually ALWAYS technique! I needed this reminder! We love using too many products😂
Glad it was helpful!
Sooo pretty & straight, great job ❤
Thank you!
Even without makeup she's so pretty
❤️❤️❤️
you are so beautiful im definitely trying this method thanks for the tips ❤
🤎
Very imformative video thank-you..I get movement with a dime size of leave in and 1 pump of mousse and a lil shine spray afterwards
I have a relaxer. But plenty have tried these steps & found they help with results. Of course result will vary depending on everyone’s hair ❤
Tried everything you said in this video. I have never seen my hair like this xD In loooooove i love you so much mwah
You’re welcome!
Very informative video! Thank you!
youre welcome!
I don’t know what I did wrong! I know less is more, I chased, I properly cleansed. My hair came out pressed but it ain’t silk. 😩
What products are you using? & are you natural or relaxed?
No wonder my hair doesn't come out silky at home. I use too much product but am convinced I need it since I have thick hair. Thank you & GOD BLESS!
Yes less is definitely more!
Thanks for your tips. They all worked!
So glad it worked for you!
Brushes and combs need to washed weekly. Along with your scarf, bonnet, and pillow case.
Yesssss best best well explained advice! What temperature are you using on your flat iron
This one only goes to one heat setting of 365
Hey girl, do you have the link to the brush you were using while blow drying?
Can you please do a winter routine for relaxed hair? Humi ty causes th flat ironed or blown out hair to reverse. What to do? What hairstyles are you best? Can you do another video for different hairstyles for relaxed hair?
Thank you🤍✨️
I will I have some going up soon ❤️
Love this video! I gotta learn how to be patient, not use too much product and take my time! 😭
Great video!! Thanks so much 😊
You’re welcome!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh my word, I need to clean my straightener
They are made of plastic, so hot water is very bad to clean them with. I clean mine with vinegar and baking soda, Isopropyl alcohol and a little non-toxic (plant-base) soap or hydrogen peroxide and a little (plant-base) soap. They work very good.
This is good I knew half of this but I was using too much product
Great video! Very helpful
@@NiaraAlexis can I send you a picture of my silk press look?
@@megantensley8958 sure feel free to send in IG
@@NiaraAlexis ok
Mornin All🤗🤗 Your hair is Gorgeoussss😍😍💙💙 and u spoke nuttin but facts and truths💯💯I educate all my clients on proper hair care to continue the healthy hair journey after they leave my chair. This was very informative information💯💯🙏🏾🙏🏾Thank U So Much!! I subbed.
❤️❤️❤️
How do you preserve it for the week to stop it from going dry or build up product
Oil when I feel like it’s needed on the ends only & pin curls at night for volume
@@NiaraAlexis Thank you!! 🤭🌻
The best way to get movement is to wash, deep condition, use a quality hair oil (like Jamaican Black Castor oil), blow dry, then flat iron. Works every time.
I love using a hair oil but find black castor oil to be too heavy for my hair
Castor oil is way to heavy to straighten with.
Olive Oil best
You can clean your combs as well
Under running hot water take a brush and run down the teeth of the comb just FYI
U right about over using products
Thank youuu!! Does the flat iron you use affect the silk and do you have to use a silk infusion to help it stay silk?
I don’t use a silk infusion. I think the flat iron does matter especially if you have natural hair. Mine is relaxed so most flat irons will give me a silky result
Ohh alright! Thank you so much! I used your video as a guide and it gave me way better results
Great tips❤
I only had luck with hair that moved when I switched to a titanium flat iron, ceramics did nothing that i wanted it to do
I don’t think the type of flat iron matters more so your technique. I’ve use them all from drugstore to 500 flat irons
Can you please post a video of how you trim your ends please? Thank you! Your hair is gorgeous😊
I filmed one. It will be up soon promise ❤️
@@NiaraAlexis yess pleaseee and break it down as simple as possible 😂😭
I love the Ride or Die leave in. It’s my favorite next to the Design Essentials HCO leave in.
I might need to try that one!
@@NiaraAlexis You’ll love that one too
Wow this was so helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
This was all great advice
My grandma pressed our hair bone straight and shiny with only a pressing comb, a little pressing oil, the stove and a towel. No blow dry. And the towel was used in place of the rat tail comb and/or brush.
This new age stuff is a lot more unnecessary work.
Amen!🙏🏿
Thank you for sharing these tips
You’re welcome ❤️
Thank you boo😘
I'm new to ur channel......loving it. Ur so cute and I love the way u speak, very professional. Now I have ideas for my texturized hair........

Beautiful hair 😍 brilliant video and Advice 😇🥰
Thank you ❤️
I use tweezers to clean hair from my paddle brush
how to you keep your slik press? my hair is always reverting back throughout the day
Well for 1 I’m relaxed so I know that plays a major part. 2 try the colorwow dreamcoat I’ve heard it works good on natural hair too if you are! 3 I religiously wrap my hair every single night. I have a hair maintenance video up too to show what I do during the week ruclips.net/video/jBWvvWO9Uac/видео.html
@@NiaraAlexis I'll give it a try, thank you 😊
Good tips everytime i wash my hair i wadh my combs i put them in a pillowcase into my washing machine come out cleannn
I have never in life thought about putting my tools in the washing machine! Y’all be teaching me things on here ❤️
I just wash my combs and brushes in the sink with dish soap. I think dish soap is ideal because it doesn’t include any softening ingredients, just surfactants.
