FABULOSO MEMORIES ❤
I graduated high school in 64….was supposed to graduate in 65, but was able to finish early. The music of the 50s and 60s were absolutely the best! We watched the birth of rock n roll! Who can forget Elvis on Ed Sullivan? I was a senior when The Beatles hit here in America…my husband says that his brother was in England in 63..Army…when he got home that year he said he was glad to hear American music because all he heard was a group called The Beatles…little did he know the next year they would arrive here! Fun stories from back then!
I was 11 years old when it went on the air. Stevie Wonder sang the year I graduated H.S. 1963. Nice documentary.
This video didn't mention the original host, Bob Horn.
Watched it faithfully and loved the dancers.
Loved watching it!
I used to rush home from school just so I could do my chores & then sit down & dance with AB I loved I wish I could go bk to the 60's I wonder whatever happened to Kenny & Arlene & Justin I loved the way they dance the may a cute couple.
❤comadre....same here in Albuq.
gREAT gREAT 50's photos of and histories of AB!!! It was surprising to see the photo of Fabian dancing with one of the audience. We were part of the early Be-bop dancers and the following "land of a thousand dances" years of r n r. For us Boomers the music and its memories/events are embedded forever in our hearts.
ps/don't forget the Rock n roll magazines along with the other song/lyric magazines of r n r Hits we would buy.
There was of course a bit of competition and rivalry between the cute couples and good dancers for the coveted camera's dance space and face time.
I'm 74, back when I was around say 35, in the North County mall, SD CA. with my wife, Dick Clark was there, some promo thing, were listing to him, watching from a distance, He's on air, may be TV, he calls me out on some songs, well, I never was much in to rock
and roll, more in to country, He got T-O at me because I didn't know what he was talking about. in fact many didn't. it's the 80,s. We now listen to praise and worship instead
of pop-culture.
The building/studio where it was in Philadelphia is still there at 46th and Market Sts.
It was never as good as it was when in Philadelphia
Doo Wop was way before 61
Correct!!!!
These teenager's knew how to dressed.
It's Philly! Some of these kids came from the Catholic HSs that were near by.
@@yvonneplant9434-- The nuns told everyone going to AB from the school had to change out of their uniforms.
Wish they'd bring something like American Bandstand back
Times / people have changed too much
Steve Tyler or his doppelganger @2:40?
he was santa claus 1956
Dick Clark had to be careful because "payola" had been declared illegal. Payola was when DJ's were paid to promote records.
