    Hey! I found the bird egg on the ground and cannot find the nest so I took it upon my own hands! I currently have the egg in an heated blanket and I will be going to the store to buy the baby wipe warmer as well as the food that you had recommended in your other video!! Does the bird also need to be given water? And how often if so Thankyou 🙏

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад +6

      Make sure the temp of the blanket can reach atleast 37.5°c otherwise the embryo will die. Also humidity is very important it needs to stay between 50-60% and a few days before hatching increase it to 60-70% to help chick hatch.
      Once the chick hatches you dont need to give it any water. Just make sure you mix the formula with water and they will get all the moisture they need from that mix.

      Friend l love your videos
      It's very helpful
      Few months ago l got Gouldian finches
      They are laying eggs now
      They did in the past but when time to hatch comes, when chic's start moving inside the egg, bird will get scared and leave the eggs.
      What am doing now is am taking they eggs and l live fake Finch egg.
      Two more days and l will have enough eggs.
      I got absolutely everything you were recomending
      Feeding is gonna be hard, am hairdresser, l work in Upper East Side Manhattan, and l live on Staten Island, it's a little commute. I have to hide them at work LOL
      l also got USB cable for the baby wipes warmer, to heat up the warmer while am on the bus. It will be a real trip lol
      But you know what, this is what l love, l take care of all the animals all my life. Am in the US for seven years now, New York is very busy, concrete everywhere. If l didn't have my babies l will go crazy probably. I have three cats LOL 200l big fish tank with angel fish and discus, and 7 Gouldian finches. I make small aviary in my living room LOL I put together two large cages, they are up to the sealing so that cats cannot reach them.
      Wish me luck 🤞

    It is 2022- I looked and Baby wipes warmer have changed somewhat. My Blue Gouldian Finches decided they were going to breed. For 2022- what is the best Baby Wipes warmer I can use as a brooder? Is it ok to have a light or no?

    So I am going to have 3 baby finches soon. Would it be possible to raise them in an incubator? In a makeshift nest? Or would a wipe warmer be better?

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад +1

      Hi Kimberly yes ive raised many in the incubator. If you have an incubator I would use that instead of the wipe warmer. With the incubator its easier to control the humidity and temp inside, the wipe warmer will come in handy when you have to leave the house with the chicks because its smaller and easier to carry.

    • @kimberlyperry6023

      That’s great news! I have a small brinsea incubator that has never failed me with hatches of all other poultry. So I thought they’d be ok but just wanted to check. This is my first time going to raise finches, my friends birds abandoned the eggs and she asked if I wanted to give them a go or she’d throw them away. So far they are incubating amazingly. I have a canary and gouldian finch so I know the adult bird care but this is going to be a journey 🥰

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад +2

      Just make sure your temps are set correctly. Finch eggs incubate at different temps then chicken eggs. They need a constant 37.5° C with humidity between 50-60% then the day they are set to hatch increase humidity 65-70%. Once the chicks hatch the temp can be braught down to 37°C and humidity 45% then as they get older and feather up keep lowering the temp slowly. Hope this helps and good luck with your future finch babies 😁

    • @kimberlyperry6023
      @kimberlyperry6023 4 года назад

      Don’t worry I did my research and have it set accordingly. So I couldn’t find the answer to this, one egg is developing perfectly and ‘on time’ but 2 eggs didn’t start developing until 4 days after incubation started. They seem much further behind than the others. Is this normal? Seems strange

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад +1

      When did you pull the eggs out from the finch pair ? one a day as she laid it ? or after the full clutch was laid ? If it was after the full clutch was laid its normal for some to be a bit ahead as sometimes the pair will start incubating prior to all eggs being laid so the 1st and 2nd egg are always ahead

    Hi sir, thank you for this helpful video! I purchased the same brand of warmer after watching this because we have an 11 day old budgie whose mother flew away accidentally from our cage:( I see that the warmer has a pillow included and the instructions says that it has to be wet to keep whatever is inside the warmer moist. I did not wet the pillow but I used it as the base, added some layers of tissue to let the baby budgie have something inbetween the warmer and its skin. I also followed your video by putting a water container inside the warmer.
    I am wondering how high does the warmer reach in celsius? Did you monitor the temperature throughout the day/ night to maintain the ideal temperature for the baby birds? I do not have an incubator so I am hoping I can maintain the baby’s life through the warmer

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  3 года назад +2

      Hi WalkingZoomies, glad the video helped and so sorry to hear the budgies mom flew away! Hopefully you can nurish them until they are eating on their own. The temp and humidity of the baby wipe warmer is very unstable because its technically not meant for raising a baby bird the way a brooder would be and since you have to keep the lid open it looses alot of heat. I believe the highest in temp it would get was around 95°f (35°c) which is a good temp for the young birds. The biggest problem you will have is with humidity and the best was to control this is by keeping the lid at the top open. I never monitered it during the night but assumed it worked well throught since all the chicks survived. How old are your baby budgies ?

    • @kingstongirl17
      @kingstongirl17 3 года назад +2

      @@paradiseaviary Thank you very much for this! Our baby budgie is surviving so far! It is 13 days old now and just cries when it poops/ pees and when it is hungry. The father is 1 year old now but he doesnt now that it is his baby! We have another female budgie (best friend of the mom who flew) but she is overfeeding the baby so we decided to just hand feed the baby for now. You are right re: the temp. It only reaches 35C, the baby is very comfy inside. I couldnt sleep at night because it would wake up every 30 mins or 45 mins to poop/ pee lol this is like a real human baby! I appreciate your youtube content. Thank you again

    What’s the best baby wipe warmer to get? Some baby wipe warmers have a water reservoir. Would that make it too humid for them?

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад +2

      I use a prince lionheart not by preference just was the one available for me. Mines also came with a pad to keep moist and a water reservoir but both would cause to high humidity so what I would do is use a small paper towl wet it a bit and put it inside for extra humidity always keeping the lids open to allow good air flow

      @paradiseaviary  4 года назад

      Your welcome. Personally ive never seen or used that one that heats from the top, im sure it will work as well you just have to keep a very close eye on the temp and humidity to make sure it stays in the right levels.

      @@paradiseaviary They are both the same I might just buy the one you are using, is the one that you're using well with keeping in heat? Would you recommend the one you're using or should I buy the other one if yours isn't good with keeping in heat. I am doing this because my lovebirds layed babies four times now and each time they die i think the mother stops feeding them but I have two pairs and this happens to both so i am going to take in the babies this time. Thank you you're videos have been really helpful.

      I would buy the same one i use so far its been good at keeping the temp steady but you do have to play with the top lid opening it a bit because it does from time to time get to hot so make sure to always keep an eye on temp and humidity. Im glad the videos are helping out. If you have any other concerns dont hasitate to ask im glad to help out, hopefully this time aroumd you can handfeed those babies and save them.
