    Summary:
    1. Care about your brain health. It is insane to care about looks more than brain.
    2. Do not let your thoughts control you. Examine your thoughts: are they valid/true?
    3. Avoid social media addiction and the cycle of dopamine addiction.
    4. Comparing yourself with more successful others with bring unhappiness.
    5. Do not postpone your happiness until you achieve your goals. Live in the present.
    6. Have balance in your goals for Health, Spirituality (purpose/meaning), Work, and Relationships. By being balanced you avoid burnout.
    7. Avoid undue anxiety. But some anxiety is necessary to avoid doing wrong things.
    8. Stanford study found the people who live longest are the conscientious people, that is the people who show up on time for their call of duty.
    9. The same study show people who live longest are not the happiest people or the "don't worry be happy" people, or the constantly worrying people.
    10. "Everything in moderation" is a terrible idea because it implies it is ok to do harmful inappropriate stuff in moderation. Why would you knowingly engage in bad things such as unhealthy food, alcohol, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and other bad things, even in moderation?
    11. Overweight people have less healthy brain.
    12. Alcohol and drugs are poison to brain.

He is soooooo right about the social media effect. When i was a teenager and young adult social media was emerging. More so as a young adult. I still remember all my friends hanging out and NOT ONE phone was in anyone's hand at all. The whole time. We stayed engaged the whole time. Always had something to talk about, or were always active doing something. More creative. It has done so much damage, but people don't care because it makes them money or it makes them feel good. Now you see groups of friends sitting together, all of them staring at their phones worried more about what that person they don't know is doing instead of the person right in front of them. Life is very different now.

    My take are these,
    1) Life is a gift, don't wasted it being negative and dwell in the past.
    2) Live in the moment. Be free from pressure of others, live your own life. Don't live for others. But don't be an asshole either!
    3) Balance is the key.
    4) Find the truth within yourself and in others. There is absolute truth.
    5) You can not change a person nor can you change them. Only when they are ready.
    6) Dont waste too much time chasing media, toys and gizmo. They will only disappoint you.
    7) Its okay to splurge but only if you can afford it and only if the item save you time (a precious commodity).
    8) Avoid drugs.
    Thanks!

Thankyou for making me think again about my brain. I read a book a while ago called “a brain that changes itself”. I decided to become more grateful and encouraging to others. Yay it worked. I like nature and joined a nature walking/ running club and a happiness light came on. Lately I have switched to eating a whole plant based diet, because I heard it was better for me and better for the world, and another happiness switch just seemed to get turned on. After getting a regular checkup I came back a little vitamin d deficient. Supplementing with vitamin D and another happiness switch just came on. At 63 I feel happier, leaner, more energetic, more alert with a greater capacity to give than in my 30s and 40s. I run daily, Life is wonderful, it is such a great gift to have, don’t waste it.

Great interview! Made me think of a few things. I really relate to the complete reversal: "Eating crappy food isn't a reward it's a punishment." Drew Carrey - Drop the Oreos & chips and pick up the strawberries or avocado with veggies with olive oil. I started this a few years ago, I slip sometimes, getting better because I feel better eating fresh colorful healthy food. I have begun enjoying the whole process: Making a list, purchase, prepare, cooking, plating(making my food look good on the plate & serving) and enjoying it. Really - blueberries and strawberries look so cute together on a plate, or surround your applesauce with them or encircle your salad with them - it is fun to me and good for me too. Try it.

I agree, I almost skipped this one because of the thumbnail and the topic was something I though I didn't need to know about...wow was I wrong. We need more of this conversation.

I decided to give up most social media for the summer. I wanted to be more present with my kids and refocus my priorities. 1 month in and I honestly don’t miss it. I will most likely get rid of it all together. ❤

I’ve learned a tremendous amount about how to eat to be healthy and I’ve put it into practice. What I’ve never considered was my relationship to food.
“Only love foods that love you back.”
    “Eating crappy food isn’t a reward; it’s a punishment.”
Thank you for this video, Thomas. It’s a game changer for me.

I always appreciated your videos, unfortunately I had to unsubscribe because as much as I love the nutrition content, recovering from an eating disorder, it can be triggering. However, this video was an answer to my prayers this week, because I’ve really been mentally overwhelmed by EVERYTHING in life. This calmed me and gave me hope and a plan to remove these toxicities. Thank you!! Re-SUBSCRIBED ✅

Very interesting and informative video for healthy mind, body and relationships. It gave me abundance of mental self awareness. As a practical person I think we should divide our leasure time amongst different activities such as exercise/yoga/walk, enjoying food, reading books, caring/chatting with family, relatives, friends, other nearby acquaintances and 7/8 hours sleep time apart from work time. Social media should be used purposefully for a stipulated time in a day. Addiction or unbalanced use of everything has always negative effects. Thank you so much.

@@permaguard3166 meditation actually. Not some three hour nonsense, just a few minutes in the morning.
I would be really careful about letting them put your 16yo on meds. Do what you feel good about, but if they just want to put him on them so he’s more compliant at school, maybe consider other options as well.
