I fell down the rabbit hole of RUclips and landed on your page. And am staying. My husband was a Piano Tuner and Refinisher for 40 years (having learned in the old country (Hungary), and his shop looks EXACTLY like your shop. I often tried to encourage him to clean/organize - he fought me tooth and nail as he said he would never find anything. And you work the same way!
I would love to see you do a custom exotic dress shoe from scratch with some type of fancy leather. All in your own style. I'm sure it'll sell quickly too from the following you're getting on here. I love watching this kind of stuff. You truly are a master cobbler.
I can't fathom the cheap quality of these Tom Ford shoes. Nothing but a branded name on what's nothing more than a mediocre quality shoe. Amazing really. If I were the owner, I'd send this video to Tom and request a refund. OTOH, Steve is the king of cobbling. Literally. Amazing work as usual!!!
Song stuck in your head is called an Earworm. An Earworm, sometimes known as a brainworm, sticky music, stuck song syndrome, or Involuntary Musical Imagery (IMI) is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing.
The gentleman who sent you these shoes is getting his money's worth and then some. Here again, we're witness to Tom Ford so-so quality. I guess the money must have been directed to advertising and the alligator leather.Terrific.
Steve, you are the man also the new Alligator Hunter lol. Thanks for sharing, it never stops to amaze me your attention to detail...even when starting without coffee!
Steve my friend - I have 4 quick comments on yet another masterpiece video......1) I hope when you cut your arm you didn’t spill your claret all over the customers items (ha ha)🤣 2) Please sing all you want sir, music is food for the soul 3) I love the fact we don’t get hammer warnings - everyone except ‘you know who’ doesn’t have an issue with it 4) You remain a gentleman and a craftsman throughout........please keep doing what you are doing, or as you’d say “let’s continue!” 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼All the best as always, Simon (United Kingdom) 👞 👠

Juanita Clifton couple of months late but Steve does repairs by mail. You can send in your shoes and he can fix them and ship them back. Costs a bit more and takes a bit longer, but it’s worth it for the quality of the repair job.

I hope your wife likes it, she is very important in this equation! (I didn't like my husband"s beard short & scruffy=ouch for me!) I think it is GREAT that you are singing all through the video. It shows that you are enjoying your work! Don't worry about the editing. NOW on to the important stuff....THESE SHOES LOOK FANTASTIC!!! Beautiful Works of Art!! Take care & God Bless.

It would be cool if you did a shop tour. I am interested in your tools, supplies, and anything else you might have in your shop. Thanks, and I appreciate your craftsmanship.
"Let's continue" to watch Master Cobbler Steve do another outstanding job on beautiful shoes. America's favorite cobbler!!! You are getting so very popular now it would not surprise me that you had a customer from Mongolia mail in a pair of shoes for repair.
I may be in the minority, but I feel like what you’re doing camera and process wise is fine. If doing it this way is what works , then keep on doing it this way and focus on the content. Thanks for all your work to share your craft with us.
Been a subscriber for awhile just never commented b4 (veteran✪female here) ..Just getting out of your normal environment can be educational, however, watching your skill it was like getting a Master degree in working the shoe biz... I like how authentic your video's are. Perfect video's makes us forget how things are in reality and your video's are perfect to make me understand the amount of work that goes into shoe repair. Keep up the good work
Always a good day when you learn something. A heel pryer. Who would have thought. Thank you Steve. Love the videos. You gave me such confidence I repaired an old pair of Birkenstoks. (really, all I did was replace some cork using contact cement. Then shaped it) It was fun. I don't have to buy a new pair. Keep on BANGING!
Believe it or not, the Prada shoes were actually probably very well made. Joseph Cheaney and Sons, a prestigious Northampton shoe maker, is a subsidiary of Prada and makes all of their dress shoes for them. Prada’s shoes are, of course, much more “fashion forward” than Cheaney’s eponymous line, but I would assume that the craftsmanship coming from the factory would be similar (that is to say quite good).
I can see this level of repair for a well constructed shoe. Apparently the owner really likes this Tom Ford shoe. IMO, the shoe is not worth the initial cost or the cost to repair it properly as Steve will no doubt add value. “If you’ve got the money, honey, I’ve got the time.”
I suspect both of those pairs cost considerably more than a pair of Church's, Allen Edmonds, Crockett and Jones, but in terms of quality, they are light years behind. I suspect they cost a fraction of the price to make. Designer shoes are. nine times out of ten, appallingly made. Excellent job as always though, and always a pleasure to watch a craftsman work.
Don't worry, sir. I'll want orange soles on my shoes in the near future as well. Cannot wait to ship them to you, but have to wear the sole down a bit 1st.
HI, STEVE! I'm high as hell right now and you said someone asked you if that was an oyster shucker? I BUSTED OUT LAUGHING! Thank you! Been a little crappy for me lately, but I thank you for your videos!!!
Steve, for those butted joins, you might consider a "marquetry cut", ie cut the heel piece over-length, overlap the existing leather, then cut through both pieces together. This is used a lot in marquetry to get little pieces of wood veneer to fit without a gap. In your case, you would need a backing piece to protect the aligator skin from the cut.
Can you put JR's on a pair of 2012 BOSS By Hugo Boss double monk straps? Even if they are Blake stitched? They feel so cheap, they might even be fused.
Another top job, thanks for sharing! At 18:09 mins into the vid you asked whether anyone ever had a song stuck in their head, which was real spooky because yes...I have ‘Para Machuchar Meu Coracao’ by Joao Gilberto and Stan Getz (a song I’m learning) rattling round in my head right now and had to laugh when you asked😂👍
Gorgeous shoes, great job giving the customer what he wanted. I didn't realize asking for different colors for the bottom was a thing, go figure. Then again, shoe fashionista I am not (which is why it's funny to me that I'm enjoying these videos). I don't bother buying expensive shoes due to how I walk and how quickly my soles wear down unevenly. I can't wear high heels anymore 😭 due to spinal fusion surgery, so I can only wear flats 😢 (not a lot of pretty options for flats). 😢 My shoes last 6 months if that. After watching these videos, I'm wondering if I should go for more expensive quality shoes and just keep replacing the soles rather than throw away a pair every 5-6 months 🤔
Outstanding restorations! Impeccable work once again! I kept chuckling everytime you'd just toss your tools onto the bench when you're done utilizing them. I have that same habit, especially when I'm on a roll 😜, but at the end of the day, my tools go back to their respective habitat. *QUESTIONs:* Is it possible to soak the sole of the shoe in the dye so that the whole sole remains pigmented? Will this compromise the quality of the leather/sole? 🤔 Continue...

Randy, wouldn’t that be amazing? Gone is the day when the pride they take in a product that has ones name on it.
You can get that quality out the box, Edward Green made in Northampton England. You're welcome :)

Yes ! I agree on that.
