There are very talented people, there are a tiny number of geniuses, and then there is Steve, who redefines what can be done, to a standard you can scarcely believe.
Steve, I love that you always find solutions to whatever problems that transpires. You didn't even need a pattern to cut the leather piece you had to sew on top of the shoe uppers. What you do with leather, my Mom does with fabrics. Most of the clothes she sews doesn't even need patterns for.
I spent over 20 years as a Cold War Soldier in the black boot Army from 1975-1995. I spent countless hours building wax up on the toes of my Cochran Jump Boots. You are correct my friend it is a labor of love to get the perfect mirror shine.
I seriously could watch your content for hours. You make it look almost easy, that is true art!
Steve makes it all look easy. Bad leatherwork is easy. Good leatherwork is hard. Great leatherwork is near impossible but he pulls it off every day.
I’ll speak for everyone, we LOVE it when you stitch with the machines, love the videos👍🏼
That customer reaction was great ending. Good satisfaction for every shoe maker.
I don't know if it's something you can replicate, but the lighting/exposure when you were taking them apart was perfect!
You're the master, the full strap band you added looks awesome, makes the style look even better. They look amazing, one of your best jobs yet!! I'd put you up against anyone. Keep up the great work.
Steve, I admire you not giving up on a tough job. You are a craftsman and a standup man. Your father and mother raised you well.
Most impressive save video yet, Steve. Thanks for taking the time to show people the depth and detail of how quality shoes can be saved...and at half of the price of a new pair. Bravo to you!
I said it on the FB pic's and I'll say it again...You Saved the Hell out of those Shoes....Great Job Steve...👍👍
.
Like telling a beautiful girl that she’s pretty, it goes without saying… But you are a REAL master at what you do.
Who knew that when we drop off our shoes, bags & other leather goods, that so much problem solving & creativity went into restoration. Always learning.
That was the best one yet! Those were a write-off, and you made them better than new, AND had the customer reaction! I’m in awe of your skills.
There was never any real doubt that you would pull this off. By now we know you are not just a conscientious master craftsman, but also a magician (or perhaps shaman?)!
Absolutely stunning . Major hammertime. Customer was very satisfied. Magnificent work
I am amazed. I thought it was impossible to fix. Now I understand why the customer was willing to pay to have these shoes repaired.
Replacing the band to cover the rip is brilliant.....that is a very intelligent innovation and quite an exceptional solution to the problem. OUTSTANDING AND IN ADDITION THE SHOES IS MUCH MORE DURABLE WITH THE BAND ACROSS!!!
I'm pleased to see this repair continue. I thought when you introduced two pair of shell cordovan shoes needing extensive repair, that it would necessarily extend to a second video. Let's continue.
Boy you weren't kidding with "surgery"! I thought at one point you were gonna say "Unfortunately the patient didn't make it"! Awesome job as always Steve
that dude was stoked. you are a master of your craft.
Yes!! Another video!! I check back all day hoping to see my bud Steve, the king of sole!
Steve... YOU DA MAN! Your creativity in bringing those loafers back from the dead, so to speak, is astonishing. The customer seemed very satisfied with the results. KUDOS!
Beautiful work. I prefer the style to the original actually.
I enjoyed this repair very much. To see what was in effect a destroyed pair of shoes come back from the dead was very satisfying. I’m glad the customer was pleased with them. How could he not be. Great job Steve!
What a magician you are, I sit and watch and never cease to be amazed ,the new cross pieces on these loafers was a stroke of genius .
Steve, I believe this may be the most extreme restoration I've ever seen you do! You should have entered these shoes into a competition! Masterful work sir and a great video! Thank you!
Great work as usual. I often wondered what you go through when things go south. That tear threw you a real curved ball. Your fans are delighted with your result. A fine pair of loafers.....a pair to be proud of. The customer sure looked happy enough. Well done, a cracking job.
Shine on
Nice save! Those tears, that's what happens when the leather isn't fed and nourished on a regular basis. That's a LOT of additional structure with the new strap added in. Turned out looking great too. Some of those stitching holes for the welt to be put... looked hogged out and compromised after that gemming gave way. Nicely done without the benefit of a last to work off of. That's the help you get from saving the original pieces to get your references.
i wish i could apprentice under you. I'm amazed by the amount of skills you have collected over the years
An artist for sure. Great craftsmanship from a byegone era.
Snowmageddon seems to have everyone in my area driving like idiots. Earlier, traffic stalled due to an accident. I spent over a half hour watching your vid in a literal highway parking lot. Thanks for the company! 😊
You came up with an exceptional solution to a problem and then you gently and cleverly redesigned his destroyed 👞’s. Amazing! IMO.
What an Artisan. Beautiful work. Looks factory? made from Alden. Man what a save!!!....Keep on sewing my man!!!
I agree with the customer that new band on top looks better than the old one, looks more classy to me. I also love watching that big Landis work.
You are a "MASTER" at your craft, incredible skill !!!
Steve worried? Don’t be silly. You are a master craftsmen! Great project, loved meeting the customer. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻
Steve sure deserves a big thumb's up on this one! It is like watching Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling around the cracks in the plaster!
Such a beautiful job! You resurrected them, thank you so much for showing the customer receiving the item. Perfect camera angle too.
INCREDIBLE! NEVER THOUGHT THAT THOSE SHOES COULD BE SAVED. THEY LOOK NEARLY NEW, HOPE THEY HAVE THE SAME FEEL.
I’d love to learn how to recreate a shoe - I’m only a repairer at basic level. You’re so talented and patient
It's quite a miracle u have done, Steve...congratulations!!!
Wow this was an amazing fix!! I could not wait for you to upload. I thought about the same thing of putting another piece over the tear. It came out fantastic. I would have preferred a Two toned version. But the customer was obviously very very happy with the final show. My 7 year old niece was also watching this video and loved to see the work and she was making some suggestions on how to repair! It gets her creative mind flowing. Love your work !!
Yes! morning coffee with Steve!
you not only did a great recrafting, but the customer now has a very unique shoe. I wouldn’t be surprised if folks ask him about them. very cool looking shoe!
This project puts you over the top. Congratulations and keep doing a great job. Thanks.
Wow, amazing work Steve! Drove by the shop today for a meeting and almost stopped by today to say hello. But figured I shouldn't bother someone working! Thanks for the video. Very inspiring.
Ron Grob you should come by when you can
Everything about this video was awesome. When you mentioned you were not going to tell the customer about how you repaired the tear, I wondered what if he watches your videos. Well you answered that! Your customers should watch the videos you produce so they can see now you not only repaired their shoes, but upgraded them. It was all in all a fascinating video showing what you take on and what you can do. I wondered about those soles until you mentioned they were JR graffiti soles. I don't like them but if they are a thing, go for it. The customer seemed very pleased as he should have been. You continue to amaze me.
That was an incredible resurrection! Can't wait for Friday's video 👍
You are like the Rocky Balboa of Shoe repair... “You see these shoes, they don’t stand a chance against me.” I am addicted to watching these repairs, have no idea why, but very addicting... Awesome Stuff!
You are the shoe savior of youtube. Wonderful job and perfect video to watch on a cold, quiet winter day!
Ahhh the stressful woes of being a craftsman and caring about what you do...
Very nice and creative work. I am impressed. Cheers
After watching this I am now ready to start my own shoe repair business.
I think those look so much better with the new band and I LOVE the color. Great work!
Nice job on those shoes!
Watching you shine shoes brought memories of spending hours shining my boots in the Navy back in the day!
Oh Steve you made my night! I started watching the first part and then I was very confused when the vid came down or did not finish but alright...let’s continue! You outdid yourself man! This was as good as that LV purse you made a while back, yes made not repaired bcuz u made it! Absolutely brilliant. Asdvadz pari sirdit yev daghantit hamemad ourakhoutouin yev aroghchoutouin da! Superb work!
Steve, you're the MAN but I'm sorry, if I owned this pair they would have went in the garbage, they're shot...! I'm buying a new pair, instead of putting you through all of this but you're one of only a few that could do this...! You're the MAN...!
I know it's probably not what the customer wanted, but, I really liked the two-tone version! If I could find something similar for ladies sizes, I would love them!
A true craftsman. These past two videos have been awesome. Us geeks love the detail. You teach as you work. Would love to know more about leather types and qualities as you work through your projects.
If i found shoes in that shape i'd throw them away, no idea you could bring them back like that.....incredible.
That was amazing, i love the way you incorporated the history of the shoes, along with the gracious owner. You are truly a great ambassador to the craft.
Wow Steve, when you pulled that other shoe out at 15:50, it was like a magic trick, the difference was unbelievable.
That was a fantastic transformation...👍
After watching this I am now ready to start my own shoe repair business
I love watching a true craftsman at work. Keep it up.
In the last video I was going to say that the sound and the image have been improved a lot.
So you came with this incredible job, some comments on the mental process of creation, customer reaction, good image, good sound... Congratulations! Great job!
Amazing as always! Total transformation. You're a genius!!
Surgery well done. No malpractices. Let's CONTINUE.
Really impressive Steve! Beautiful job.
I love that outsole sewing machine. It looks like it must have been made in the mid 20th Century! Beautiful engineering.
It probably was, I'm guessing there aren't many manufacturers of cobblers tools around any more.
Your out of frame work is amazing!
HI, STEVE!!! I love watching the customer's reactions, whether it's your customer or one of my auto detailing channel's customers! You remade that whole pair of shoes, cuz they were tore up from the floor up!!! MASTER CRAFTSMAN.
This is prob one of my fav videos you have ever done. I love the extra content that goes through the thought process and insight. Not your norm but this really goes above and beyond. Keep up the reactions if possible!!!
A word often overused but in this case i think we watchers agree, this is an Artisan. The bench makes me want to cry as another tool/shoe piece lands amongst the carnage but for this man this works it seems.
Hedge hog I do organize and clean almost everyday
Genius fix! You're so clever! If he'd not liked it, I would offer that you add the "oroginal" stitch near the top part, on either side of the toe seam and then the reinforcement and the look would've been there but that piece will make those last forever. Admire your skills!
This is unreal. Brillant job a real craftsman. I love 2atching the projects. Keep up the good work.
Another incredible job! Thanks for sharing, Steve!
I'm a little late watching the upload, but boy-o-howdie! The show was worth the wait. I'm sitting here thinking: no, this one is not gonna make it. Proved me wrong again, Steve! Thank you for the teaching video; you are exceptional! Hammertime!
Love your work. Your sewing skills are amazing.
Thank you for sharing your work with us. You're a true craftsman!
It was cool to finally see a reaction. You do great work bro.
Glad you have a wise spouse. It is evident the love and trust you have for each other... ❤️
You need to start selling some tee shirts and other merch with the motto, "All right, let's continue!"
I know! I said the same t hing a few months back just after I discovered his channel and was just binging his videos.
gsp0113 ive been feeling that way since I’ve seen his videos
I'd buy.
It's hammer time!
YES I SECOND THAT MOTION
Looks like that poker dude was watching the shoe shine. :) Creative fix! Nice job as always.
You can do it man! They look wonderful Steve! Thank you for the videos! Take care and stay well!
Dude I praise you for sticking at it, an amazing job as always, I wouldn’t expect anything else from ya. Love the work you do. 👍👍 lets continue 👍👍
Great craftsmanship, Steve!
Love the matching green thread on the bottom! Spiffy!
You brought those back from the HAIRY EDGE ! I think they remind me of some Carmina loafers a friend of mine has. After all that work the customer should sign a conditioner and shoe tree agreement ! Lol !👍❤
That was amazing! I am hooked and almost can’t wait for the future videos
Brilliant! Masterful work, as always.
Wow. That was an absolutely amazing transformation.
Steve u r a wizard man. I'm from india. A great fan of ur work. It's always reassuring when people like you still carry the mantle. Otherwise in today's world repair us unheard of. I have few pairs of AE. Will get in touch soon. Cheers mate. God bless.
Great video. Always enjoy watching!
You should run a custom contest, and have people draw up unique designs for shoes on a piece of paper. Then you decide which one is the best. Whatever design wins you go ahead and try to bring their picture to life creating a full custom shoe. That would be super entertaining to me at least :) I know you're super busy though. Just an idea. Great work!
I never doubted one bit that you wouldnt succeed. You are a true Master in your work. You should start making your own shoes .
As a matter of fact I actually own an exact pair of these Alden Loafers, the only difference being , mine are a good 12 years old but still in very good condition as I look after them
Another one!!! Great job Steve! Your re-craft skills are pretty amazing!!
Fantastic Steve great work of art 👍
If only my Allen Edmond's came as nicely stitched from the factory as your repairs do.
After watching a lot of your videos I'm no longer surprised when you pull off something that difficult.
Hi Steve, I never thought you were going to get those back. It's a good idea , when you have a problem with a job. Work on another part and let your subconscious work on it. Well done. All the best. T
Fantastic work, as always !👍👍👍
