- "Batman" was released on VHS just 4 months after its theatrical debut (with many theaters still showing it at the time of the tape's release). Warner banked on consumers viewing Batman video cassettes as being great holiday gifts and wanted to maximize their profits during the holiday season. This commercial seems to illustrate this sales tactic heavier than any of the others...

I remember being very little, and seeing this movie advertised all over the place. I even had a toy Batmobile that I played with, and this was before I saw the actual movie. I first saw it during the summer of 1992 after getting a copy at the local video store. I was turning 6 at the time, and it was the very first PG-13 rated film I've watched. I loved it so much than my mom bought me a copy that I could watch all the time, and she even took me and my sister to see Batman Returns on the big screen. I would eventually get Batman Returns of VHS later that Christmas, along with some action figures, the Batcave playset, and the Batmissle Batmobile.
I had that exact VHS.. Memories..
Me too
this is still the number 1 batman that is the best!!!!
i personally disagree i think Batman forever is the Best then this one then Batman and Robin then Batman returns
@@kennywohl1061forever was corny it was not good

@@kennywohl1061 you damn right it is batman 89 will never be topped
It’sy favorite too.
I still got my dads VHS of this movie in my opinion it’s the best way to watch it
I have the very early DVD double sided disc 2 pack and it comes the closest to the vhs in terms of the grungey feel.
I remember they were selling this everywhere. And i mean everywhere. Even places like mervyns and home depot were selling copys. Its was crazy.
Even at Blockbuster!!!
2 people didn't get Batman in Christmas 1989...
Most importantly they didn't get the memo.
What really made this movie the best was that logo and chrome color they can't top that!
My parents took to me see Batman 1989 movie when I was eight years old I like Batman with Michael Keaton only playing Batman and Batman Returns that’s it
Can’t wait to get this for Xmas
People just don't understand how important this movie was 😢
The Movie Of The Decade!
Gotham City's Greatest Hero!
DC COMICS BATMAN!
Rated PG-13!
Batman: I'm Batman!
Now playing at a theater near you.
It makes me sad to think how many of those were thrown away by apathetic people. :(
Wish I kept my copy. I was to young to know how important it was
I love Batman soundtracks by Prince RIP Prince
I'm Batman.
Even when you used to picK up the VhS Video wheN it was NeW in '89 feLt something reaL heaVy
If only Warner Home Video could do a similar Christmas themed TV commercial with Barbie (2023) on Blu-ray Disc.
the vhs release was notable for having a brighter picture than the theatrical version. Did the laserdisc version get a brighter picture as well? Remember no betamax version of Batman or CED version.
CED was dead in 1986/1987, at latest. The latest Betamax I know is Fantasia, which was released in November of 1991, so there is definitely a Betamax of this movie. There's even rumored to be one of the 1992 movie, but I've never found it.
On eBay right now, I got you two of them!

Not the best condition, but they're still awesome to have. Good luck!
Batman (1989) obviously wasn't on CED as the last CED title was released in 1986. Batman did get a Betamax release, but I could imagine that it might be slightly rare. Because by 1989, not many people were still using Betamax, as most people moved on to VHS or Laserdisc.
LOL I just saw this commercial on an old VHS recording I had of Cheers
Yeah I remember having to wait til 94 for Jurassic Park on tape. They really fasttratcked this one.
Wow! Definitely getting it come christmastime! :-D
That is how you SELL people 😂 😜
I still have one of these
I still had to pay regular price
Great movie
Good but Batman Returns was better imo
