The springs in the standard sticks on the Boxer are so strong that I couldn't actually use it (Parkinson's strikes again) -- the only problem with an otherwise near-perfect radio. I'm fitting AG01 gimbals to mine today and it will finally be a useful radio and my daily drive.
How are the AG01's treating you? I'm loving mine. Now if my HDzero birds weren't cursed I might get some flying in.

Yeah, I had one too many issues with TBS radios. They are still good but they aren't for me anymore.

If your screwdriver is metal but not magnetic. Just find a decent strength magnet and stick it to the screwdriver and it will make it magnetic so you can install the screws💙💙💙

Just an fyi. Warranty void stickers arent actually valid in the US so no matter what they have to warranty it. Your completely fine opening up the unit or any unit for that matter. Regardless of voild warranty stickers😅❤ the only reason a product in the US has those stickers is because they sell the same thing all over and so instead of making specific US only versions thst just dont have the sticker. They put the dticker on and we are supposed to know it doesnt void the warranty if we remove it ❤😅
I haven't even received my order yet, and yet you have an upgrade for it for the same cost of the radio. I hope I'm happy with the original gimbal. Otherwise, I should have purchased a new radio that came with the new gimbal. But thanks again for the video and information.
I'm willing to bet you will be happy with it. Everyone I know that has it is loving it. If you bought a radio that came with AG01's you would've paid double the price anyways. So....

It is pretty dang easy.
When you calibrate, if you move the gimbals very gently to the edges then they will read 100 and not 98.9 or whatever.
I am waiting for the RR, JB, PYRO pimped out glitter version w AG01. We all know its coming.

My Boxer is waiting at the Radiomaster EU Shop🤩. Blue AG01 are already here, nice you did that too, must have if you ever feelt these nice AG01.
I had an early review unit of the radio. I was actually slow to get the AG01's for it. I've been using it for a month now.
@@stingersswarm Looks like a very good size Radio, not to small but still enough, coming from a Qx7 (with AG01 👌).
It will be prefect if the LED mods for Tx16s works with Boxer 😛🤞🏻
I didn’t test fit but the pcb has a led port in the same place. So same gimbals and same connection. I bet they work.
Why go to this trouble if you order direct from Radiomaster the radio and gimbals in the one order they will fit them at the factory I ordered a Zorro and gimbals and with a say 20 day delay they turned up. Please check if they are still doing it before you order.
So its a great radio with great gimbals for 139. Why dont just use it as is? 129 for gimbals for a 139 tx seems skechy imo
Yeah but it is a tool I use almost every day. I am also very familiar with the ag01 because I have them in my tx16s which I’m still using and I want the same gimbal in both radios.
I got my Boxer! First thing I did: remove the external antenna receptacle and put in an EP1 receiver antenna in its place! :)
I don't think it will replace my TX16s with the AG01, but the it (Boxer) doesn't have an AG01 yet.. yet.. 🤑
I’ve been thinking a lot about modding it with an internal antenna. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on that though.
@@stingersswarm kinda a hassle tbh as you have to remove the full PCB to take two screws that hold the antenna pigtail..
or an alternative would be to leave the piece that holds the pigtail and just unscrew the rp-sma.
I'm pretty interested in this mod... one of the reasons I went with the Zorro was because it fit so easily in a bag with no antenna sticking out
@@crispy1688 Boxer comes with its case that still fits the whole thing with antenna attached.
Mod's not that difficult to do. Dettach back of radio, unscrew antenna pigtail (or pigtail holder altogether), connect a 2.4GHz antenna, reassemble. Complexity increases whether you want to remove the pigtail assembly or just the pigtail itself and how you'd want the internal antenna oriented/mounted inside.

to those trying to do this today, dont use a philips youll damage the screw head, the screws are NOT a philips, they are a 2mm hex driver
a little off topic, but do you recommend replacing the SD card that comes with the Boxer?
$140 radio quickly turns into a $280 radio lol i want these for my boxer. Do they have the leds out for those yet? And do they make an upgraded antenna for the boxer yet?

I’ve got a JR 11X that I put a 2200 LiPo in and have to charge it once a summer……just saying. But it doesn’t talk to me.😊

How would you compare the stock gimbals to the mambos? do they feel the same in terms of grip(despite the sticks ends) and where they are placed on the radio? I have small hands and I do thump as well and i am concerned they might be to up high
Similar grip to mambo. Similar fit in the hand. Better stick feel in my opinion but not light years better.
With the 6200mah battery in, can you charge it via the usb port or do you have to balance charge it with a proper lion charger?
USB C charging works just fine.

What do you want to use it for? Betaflight multirotors? Boxer all day. Inav, ardupilot, px4, or frequently programming one off models then go with the TX16s

It isn't easy to say. Everyone will feel differently about them. To me it is night and day but not in any way that really improves my flying. It just feels better. That is all I can say for sure.

Well this video is here for when the radios start arriving. From the comments it seems they are rolling in.
Put the PL18 FlySky Paladin gimbals in my TX16S before the AG01 were available and tbth the PL18s are better. And they look better. I'm sure not compatible with the boxer but like... the AG01 are not the best in the game. Neither are the PL18s. They're really good don't get me wrong... but seriously cmon dude.
Best gimbals I've flown hands down. Point me to anything better. Those flysky gimbals don't have a 1k polling rate either. I've flown them all Futaba, Spektrum, Jeti, Frsky, you name it. These are the best IMO. You can have a different opinion. That is ok.
Your doing the calibration wrong! Not in circles you calibrate in a cross the right way

…nope…jeti models gimbals are much much better…i know and used them for decades…cost only about 400 USD a piece…
I’ve used them too and they were unimpressive. We spent a couple weeks modding them trying to get them feeling right before giving up. But if you are looking for the most expensive gimbals in the game go with jeti.
Jeti gimbals suck by comparison lol
