Radiomaster Pocket Review Error It’s been highlighted to me that in Joshua Bardwell’s review of the Radiomaster Pocket he highlighted the fact that I referred to the top RH rotary control as a “rotary encoder” and stated he believed I was wrong saying its actually a potentiometer. Joshua is 100% correct and I was 100% wrong. I mistakenly said the wrong term when referring to it in the recording and I can absolutely confirm it is an standard “pot”. This was a complete error on my part that I also missed in the edit process and I apologise for providing incorrect and misleading information in that review. To ensure I am always providing the very best accurate content I will be putting procedures in place to ensure this does not happen again. I am deeply sorry inaccuracy that occurred here. I will be adding this correct to a sticky post on the video and I will try to make sure it’s highlighted with RUclips’s limited tools to resolve these kind of issues. Worst case we will remove the video and republish correctly and accurately.
That non latching left lower button is great if someone wants to use this radio for DLG planes. Need a momentary switch for launching and being on the left corner it makes it perfect for people who throw with right hand.
I need a Zorro with Full Size Gimbals, like the Tango 2, atm there are no Gamepad Style Radios with Full Size Gimbals except the Tango 2, but the Tango 2 has just FreedomTX, that was the reason why i sold my Tango 2. I am waiting for a Tango 2 or Tango 2 style Controller with ELRS and Full Size Gimbals everything else for me is not worth to switch from my TX16s with AG01 Gimbals 😅
I like how small and cheap it is. I was looking for a travel radio for when I go out of town and was looking at the BetFPV LiteRadio 3 Pro but this one is just as good and costs less. I'll probably pick one up when I get back in town.
This looks like a good radio. I started on the QX7 and moved over to the Tango II just because I prefer a smaller radio. But boy do I miss full size gimbals. Wish I could have it all
Think I might get this to replace my zorro and use the Zorro parts to make a pistol grip for my ground vehicles. My biggest problem with zorro is the transmitter battery, even though I have a backpack with 2s 18650 the charging is annoying so most of time I just use it connected to a USB C cable for indoors.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the pushbuttons either... But for this price I think I might buy one of these & see if there's an easy/neat way to mod it to regular switches with a bit of 3d printing!
@MADSTECH the dji 3rd party sell m2 screw in one's. Yuneec honatora phytech. Just make sure the length will fit into the storage mainly closed. I'm sure there will be better options but for now.
At then end we see now new products appear with a lower price tag instead of seeing price cuts on the old ones - as we had seen it before when speedy bee released the fc 405 wing for roughly 37€ incl. 20% VAT & incl. shipping This remote likes it could help us in the club to move ahead with the remotes we lend to the kids in the holidays camp which they can use for a few weeks or month if they like to get into the hobby without having invest too much. Before we had gotten a dozen of TX16S which were a bit heavy for the kids but for us more important was the price tag - back then about 100€, later we got the small jumper Radio for the next season and now it is time to go aheard. Only downside or things to check are the switches and if those are enough or could cause issues. I have to compare both radios first to prepare such decision and as long as we still have those in use, the jumper t-lite or however it had been called. I like the 18650 which is an important point where the Zorro never got a real fix for the 18650 or a new shell as we had hoped for. For me personally the display can be a bit too small, but perfect for the eagles eyes of kids. Will be a tough decision this year what to get next. The colours are looking also like a nice option but I am not the biggest fan for additional shells. Hopefully affordable, but I still remember when the first are has been released with exchangeable body panels where you could have change the panels on your own, no need for a paint job. It never sold well and was no longer offered after a few years even though the panels were quite cheap for the smart city coupe of 1998 or so. At the end this pocket radio seems to the lower end and smallest radio so far and will help kids to get along cause in our first purchse back in early 2020 the TX16S were simply too big for kids even though they had loved this radio cause it was called by them an adult radio, where every switch more meant that it must be more professional, from the pov of kids. good radio and finally no more overpriced textile bag where we paid over 20€ for the crappy textile bag which is now part of the radio, big progress for the club at least.
Will there be a charcoal / transparent black shell for the boxer? The pocket is great and I’d get it if it had full size gimbals. The boxer is so bulky and large.
Not much of a budget if I have to pay another $60 for a 4 in 1 module and then $12 for the batteries. And on top of that, $27 on shipping from radiomaster. What a letdown!
The Radio itself is great but the gimbal springs are horrible. Either they barely manage to center the sticks or you have to use massiv force to bring them to the outside.
@@MatCron no, I mean that possibly you can change the internal TX of the Pocket and put inside the internal TX from the Boxer. I hope someone try to do that mod to know if that idea is possible
I just bought one and have to send it back. Switch b only works in 2 positions. The middle position is the same as up position.......and yes everything is configured correctly. Its detected wrong in the debug menu even. I took it upon myself to take the back cover off and test the actual switch. All 3 positions of the switch do work on a multimeter. So its not the physical switch. But i cant for the life of me get that switch to work in 3 positions
Is it normal that the SA und SD buttons trigger fairly easy? I can just touch them and the light in the RC goes green so it is triggered. In reviews it doesnt seem like it doesn trigger that easy
Hi Mads tech ,i just received my pocket, really nice , however the spring tension doesn't feel linear, and even after loosening them they still not linear and give greater resistance near the ends, i like my sticks linear loose and floaty without any play in middle, my stock tx12 is perfect with adjustment on loose and on my tx16s i had to put the lighter ones..i tried springs from my jumper t-light but were slightly wide and still didn't feel right, i am scared of using the pocket and mess up my muscle memory, please help, what springs to buy.
Here is my question. I have some BetaFPV ELRS mini 2.4 quads and I am in the process of setting up the Pavo Pico. Up to this point, I have mostly bought "kits" with radios included. Using the BeataFPV lite radio and want to upgrade. Is this radio a bind and fly? Every time I have had to go to Beta Flight, I end up bricking or else making it un-usuable. I am waiting for more setups like Speedy Bee that use an all to set up quads instead of Beta Flight. Can I just bind my Pico to the Pocket and go fly?
On most of these video reviews I've seen nobody's mentioning that the board says radio master Zorro pocket. So is it is Zorro mini what does that mean?
Hi Ian, sorry to ask what might seem a stupid question, if I was to buy a bnf quad with elrs installed either 2.4 or 815 ? Think please correct me if I'm wrong would this radio just bind to relatively easy etc ?
Garbage. You get what you pay for. Just returned it…it feels, like one of those 99 cent plastic toy guns. for real? This is not budget it’s crap. Spend a little more money on something that’s going to last more than a year.
Honestly this is one of the first real negative feedback I have seen on the pocket . I’m sorry but it does not feel that cheap. It more solid than say the T20 and mambo in comparison
@@MadRC I was coming from a budget FRSky x-LIte (underrated radio that does all this does with better quality and it’s been around for a while) and I was thinking this would be comparable but to me it is a clear downgrade. That battery cover had me fiddling with it for 10 min. I like the form factor but would gladly pay $100 more for quality

Even the design tells you it is a quality radio, not giving "cheap" vibes. Kudos for RM.

damn this is crazy good, been waiting for a 18650 Zorro since that came out. Think I’m gonna take this
Great addition to any fpv kit 👌. But for me too small for my hands. My kid will get this as a good starting kit. Awesome job on the review.
That looks perfect for the sim and for a sub 250 weeknight rip a couple packs after work set up.
Was thinking the same thing.

Yea quality wise it’s light years ahead of the Literadio
If your main radio has full size gimbals you’ll have to watch out switching between the two cause it will mess a lot with your muscle memory.
This looks like a good radio. I started on the QX7 and moved over to the Tango II just because I prefer a smaller radio. But boy do I miss full size gimbals.
Wish I could have it all
Its scary how refined the" take my money "process has become
I wish DJI offered the controller 2 in the same box shape, love my boxer
As a new FPV type, an EdgeTX FW primer that you've indicated is coming will be useful and very much appreciated. TIA.
If they only could have been able to fit 2 18560s in the Zorro! Great Review!
You run out of bat with your zorro?
Hot dog, Ian, great detail. Especially good to see the size and gimbal comparison.
i hope they also make new normal sized radios (like tx16 s mk2)
Think I need one for my 1s Whoop kit...
although top left is my arm too... wish it was latching...
Thanks Ian for all you do. Fantastic review. Ass always. Keep being you. And keep ripping my brother.!!
Thanks I hate it lol. I'll stick with my Zorro for now. Wish that one took 18650's though....
Looks a damned good radio..... Will definitely give this a try.
Love my Zorro but......as said will give it a try
is that not a tbs tango and tbs Manbo model together?
Can you also make review of Jumper T20?

Great review and tear down, lot of details! One question, which type of antenna it uses? Is it T type ou printed circuit (like in the T-Pros)? Thanks
I'd like to see a comparison of this to the jumper t20
Would have been a great buy for me to put in a light back pack but once again (bangs head off desk) push button switches, for the love of god.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the pushbuttons either... But for this price I think I might buy one of these & see if there's an easy/neat way to mod it to regular switches with a bit of 3d printing!

No AG01 and limited switches. I think I will keep my Zorro for now.

Where do you see it that cheap? I paid around 45 with VAT but no shipping for that.
finally a proper 60$ radio that isn't a fs i6
does the BLE Joystick work here? 🎉
Here's hoping for AG-O1 Nano Gimbals.
Imo the small space saving isn’t worth the lack of ag01 upgrade path
Can you install the 1w elrs module from a boxer into this badboy for us for science? Also don’t forget the fan as well 😂
Technically no reason why not 😀
The reason they don't do that is heat dissipation. ELRS devs recommend staying under 250 mW without active cooling.
@@MadRCuse external 1W module with fan.
Job done

Do 18650s need to be button top?
No, flat top works as well.
Good review Ian.
Hello Matt, I know that you like mods so do you think it's possible to put inside the Pocket the 1W Boxer's internal TX?
Have a nice day 🤟

No big deal the top button doesn't latch just use the Sticky function.
Yes, with voice prompts to callout the current state, I do this on my ZORRO and it's brilliant 🙂
Why Radiomaster do the pocket because the Jumper V-lite V2 is the best lite radio at good price !
Is USB-C provides only charging or able to act as PC controller to use in simulators as well?
Found the answer, yes, it can do that 👍
Are the rear grips firm when in place? with the weight of the 18650's behind them would they pop off if knocked or dropped ?
No they are solid.
On most of these video reviews I've seen nobody's mentioning that the board says radio master Zorro pocket. So is it is Zorro mini what does that mean?
Nothing it’s just the internal naming they have given it.
Hi,what version of Expresslrs comes with this radio ie v2 or v3?cheers
I wonder if the radio will accept AG-01 mini gimbals....
Can anyone tell me if this radio works with 18650 button top batteries only or can I also use flat top ones?
Hi Ian, sorry to ask what might seem a stupid question, if I was to buy a bnf quad with elrs installed either 2.4 or 815 ? Think please correct me if I'm wrong would this radio just bind to relatively easy etc ?
Yea, it’s 2.4elrs. So you would just need to bind it either with the binding phrase or the power on 3 times button.
@MadRC cheers Ian 🍻
Shame there's no trim tabs. Not everyone uses robot controllers in everything! 😊
THE DEFAULT 250 MW IS MORE OR LESS THAN THE DJI FPV CONTROLLER?
We don’t know fully what DJI RF output is on the remote but it’s totally different RF systems. 250mw ELRS will our range DJI period
@@MadRC amazing. wow the internet is awesome, thank you, SOLD!
Damn I'd trade my ag01 zorro for one of these
Those looks like a really good transmitter, especially for the price, but unfortunately the Boxer is my soulmate so this is gonna be a no from me.
The translucent case idea is ugly in my opinion and would make it a pass if I was ever looking for this style of transmitter.
Its easy to take apart so I'd just paint it If I would ever end up buying one. Not a fan of this see through plastic aswell.
nice but buy a tbs mambo....xaxaxaxxaxa
It’s obsolete already without elrs
This radio is just a prove how expensive and joke TBS Tango 2 is.
£65 plus postage ... Plus cost of 2x 18650......
Soon adds up
Too bad there is no 4-in1 option!
