Usually there isn't much said about Troon being at the top of the Rota but after this video it's definitely opened my eyes to how astoundingly awesome this course is. I especially enjoyed the three acts of the course and that came through clearly. Keep these coming for the top classic courses---they really are amazing. I'd love to see Fishers Island, Chicago Golf, Royal County Down, Royal Dornoch, Merion, Olympic, Royal Melbourne, Shinnecock Hills
I've walked the course & stood on the postage stamp tee, never played it though. One of the great Scottish quirks, is that you can freely walk your dog along & onto these famous links. Might not be able to afford to play it, but can still enjoy it.
“It may take a lifetime to learn this golf courses infinite complexities” but it only took Henrik Stenson 72 holes. Great video, excited to have the Open back at Troon.
As with any Open Championship, it’s always more entertaining the more the wind blows. This is especially true at Royal Troon, because the back nine there can be brutal if there’s a 20-30 mile an hour wind in your face on that back 9.
I'm sorry, how did Mickelson and Stenson shoot 17- and 20-under par on this course? The 3rd best player only shot 6-under. Just goes to show you how amazing that duel was back in 2016
You must be confusing Greg Norman for Rory McIlroy, but that's ok, one of them was the #1 golfer in the world for 331 weeks and won 88 tournaments, the other is Rory McIlroy.
Americans in general like their golf courses to be benign, manicured country gardens, bereft of character and the elements like wind or punishing topography. Only Pebble Beach comes close to the awesome challenges of true links golf.
@@maitaimik Not American. And beautiful courses carved in the forest are hardly benign, your English links courses look like wasteland. Without the wind and dried greens, not much to your golf courses.
When Joe Biden loses to Trump, his MSNBC cheerleaders--Mike and Joe, followed closely by Lawrence O'Donnell, will have to bear some of the responsibility
Her love of golf is impressive…but she talks too much. This video would have been better if there was no commemtry just a few labels and word comments for each hole like the USGA does. She sounds as though these courses are the best in the world and only a very few select exclusive people can play them and then there are the pros …this off limits world where us mere mortals revere these golfing icons as gods. Really!!??? Let me reassure every one of you…i have traveled the world and i can promise you an irrefutable even immutable fact of truth….there are golf courses out there that are way way better than these British Open chamoiomship rota classsic links courses. Go to California and New Zealand for a start.

thank you x
Breathtaking visuals. The birds seem like spirits, not creatures of this world.

2 things. I can't get enough of Iona. She's so charismatic! Plus, I'm now really amped to watch. I'm hoping for a huge variety of conditiions.
These are just amazing
Sensational description of an amazing golf course! Narration invites all to challenge the legendary Royal Troon.

Legendary.
Nicklaus sent Stenson a hand written letter to say it was as good a display of golf as he's ever seen.
The weather change had a massive part to play that year
The 2016 open was my favorite recent one, I hope we get another like that one
Favourite videos on RUclips. Thank you
Beautiful exposé of a daunting challenge, nicely narrated.
Sweet overview! Love the narrator!
I would LOVE to see a heavyweight match coming down the stretch like Phil and Stenson had last time. Some of the best Sunday golf of all time.
My favourite major of the year. Excited. Troon looks even more devastating this year.
Very well done Iona. Can’t wait to watch The Open Championship next week.
That was sweet. Thanks.^
I've always loved a short par 3. Just a underrated type of hole in a major
More Iona please!!!
Wow what a course - 7-11 look incredibly interesting, plus the par 4 Burmah on the back 9
with its deep cavities and unpredictable surfaces.
Palmer said the 11th was the hardest hole in championship golf.
As if i wasn't juiced up enough for the last major of the year! I'm predicting a playoff hole or two!
More of this please!
No doubt should be Iona!
🔥🏴🔥
Can't wait for the British!
More “every hole at” videos should talk about Greg Norman’s failures. Since they happened all over the world after all.
Not a big LIV fan eh?
Can you name a few, if they are so numerous?
You must be confusing Greg Norman for Rory McIlroy, but that's ok, one of them was the #1 golfer in the world for 331 weeks and won 88 tournaments, the other is Rory McIlroy.
I tried to get a tee time this weekend. I can't understand why I'm having trouble booking it :P
Last Major hole by hole preview of the year 😢😢😢
The most difficult course I have ever played in all my years
Iona is the best
What a golf course it's like I'm watching Gordon lightfoot's Edmund Fitzgerald..... I'm an eight handicap. This would be a treat to tackle this track.
Iona is perfect to narrate this video!
Marvellous. What a course. Love the video and love hearing Iona's narration.
Best course on the rota after Portrush
How come we couldn’t get East Lake? Been refreshing for a month 😂😂
What an intro
Iona is a true legend.
Beautiful course narrated by a beautiful woman. Does it get any better?
Can’t wait for the ball rules to come into effect - technology has f’ed up the pro game so much imo
Haha - my course is crammed with trees - this course looks EASY! 😅
Hope you get a chance to prove your theory one day.

The choppy sage rough is very difficult.
What hole is the thumbnail of?
Par 3 5th, the picture doesn’t do it justice. A beautiful vantage point to take in the scenery

it's 633 yards for this years open, usually plays downwind so not as far for Pro's as you think.

Pros are going to have no trouble with this course again... wish they'd give them a tougher challenge
The biggest weapon links courses have isnt their design. Its the weather.
If the weather isnt perfect, expect a tounament score in single digits under par.
The weather forecast is for rain and wind. This course will destroy most of the field.
Public school Iona.
I like my courses to have tree lined fairways. Fewer stray golf balls to take you out !
