  • Megan absolutely LOVED the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe when it showed up in the driveway. The girls absolutely LOVED the Jeep Wrangler. So after spending a week with one of the most comprehensive Jeep Wranglers you can buy, the 4xe Rubicon, what do we think? There are a LOT of things to like about the Jeep Wrangler in 4xe trim, but when you add the Rubicon X package to the Wrangler 4xe, you get the weird combination of attributes that is kind of awesome. The 2024 Jeep Wrangler refines the traditional Wrangler formula, and in 4xe trim you get the 21 miles of EV range on top of all that. When you add the Rubicon X package, the price soars of course, but the resulting Jeep Wrangler is one of the most interesting in terms of overall usability. Around town, the Jeep Wrangler is relatively efficient thanks to the EV range, which can also be saved for the mountain trails if you prefer. From behind the wheel, the added torque makes the Jeep Wrangler 4xe feel genuinely powerful, and the massive torque would be beneficial when the road runs out. The fact that you can get all of this along with a comfortable, feature loaded interior, make the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe the Swiss Army knife of SUVs and off-road vehicles. Clearly, at $77k, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe isn't for everyone. You're paying for the versatility. But if you want to experience absolutely ALL of Jeep Life, the 2024 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe might be the best expression of Jeep Life yet. What do you think of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe? We'd love to know!

    I just got this Rubicon X in white without the winch and one touch. The one touch was a little too noisy for us. We love it so far!

    Very interested to see where the Lexus GX may fall in Megan's preferences once you get your hands on that for a week. . . Maybe I'm just a bit of a Lexus fanboy, but I still like that best out of the ones you mentioned.

      It certainly has a lot going for it! The combo of high end luxury features, great style, and actual off-road capability is pretty unique. Only the G wagon comes close and it costs significantly more.

    They are beautiful with the accents (Coming from a Jeep enthusiast). I'm still not ready for electric, although less opposed to the Hybrid. For the money, you can pick up a Jeep 392!

      Even with rebates and discounts, a 392 will be in the mid 90's. This version you have can be gotten for in the mid 60's now.

    Many people, particularly women, think this is a cute vehicle to have. Until…they drive it on highways and then wonder what is wrong with the steering that wonders all over the road lol. It’s a Jeep thing, they wouldn’t understand.

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад

      I think that’s true for the VAST majority of Wranglers sold. It definitely drives better and is easier to live with than any Wrangler in history, BUT that’s in context of Wrangler life. As Megan said at the end, the best of both worlds vehicle is the Ford Bronco, which is probably why it’s killing the Wrangler in sales and has severely damaged the Jeep brand as a whole (Gladiator sales are terrible).

    Megan buy a used one, 32K for many of them and under 50K miles. I think that is what I am going to do trade my Ram 1500 for one. :)

    The company would collapse if all buyers were only off-roaders. Most buyers are not. As a matter of fact many drive theirs in major cities. Off-reading is just for branding and to escape putting effort into making the vehicle better, while charging more.

    I’m sorry…did you say seventy-seven thousand dollars? $77K?!? No. Nope. No way. That’s madness. I get that cars, in general, have gotten more expensive, but that kind of coin for a Jeep is lunacy. And I like Jeeps. Had a Wrangler with the 4.0 inline six (the best engine). But there is no way I’d pay that for a Jeep…even if I had the money.
    It does look good, though. I’ll give it that.

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeeeaaahhhh… that’s a tough pill to swallow, even considering the versatility of this trim. Might explain why the Bronco is dominating Jeep in sales right now, and even those are hard to find for reasonable coin.

    Off-road marketing is a scam imo. The mindset should be, if a vehicle can’t drive well on a smooth road, then why should I trust it off-road. Btw I’m not saying a vehicle that drives well on a regular road would make a great off-raider. I’m just saying, that should be mandatory- for a vehicle to perform well on a normal road first. I can’t trust a vehicle that cannot steer well, that death wobbles, noisy, leaks when it rains, explodes and catches fires 🔥, etc. I 100% think off-roaders are to blame. You allow the company to charge more without improving quality. Because you ask for minimal performance since it’s off-roading. The problem is you don’t live off road and most drivers actually use their jeep on regular roads and even in cities. Lane assist, and highway driving should be basic stuff.

    Are jeeps really as unreliable as people say?

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад +3

      They don’t have the BEST reputation, but like all things, it’s probably a bit exaggerated in the grand scheme of reliability

    • @husker_nation
      @husker_nation 11 месяцев назад +2

      They're reliable vehicles. When people start modifying them, they don't take everything into consideration and from that perspective, they can become unreliable

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад

      @@husker_nation I don’t disagree with that, but their rankings at the bottom of CR reliability indexes is certainly concerning, especially considering the general reliability of many cars by modern standards

    • @husker_nation
      @husker_nation 11 месяцев назад

      @@jax1079 If you don't plan on using the Jeep for it's intended purpose, then I think one is wasting their money. I'm on my 3rd Jeep and have put over 160k-180k miles respectively without any hiccups. Now that I have a 4xe, I suspect I'll put well over 200k miles since it's electrified (previous hybrid and phev I put on average 250k)

    • @602North
      @602North 5 месяцев назад +1

      I can only speak for myself and the Jeepers I hang around with. I'm also an admin on the largest Jeep group on Facebook for the last 8 years.
      I've had 7 Jeeps and all have been very reliable. I think some people like the idea of owning one, buy it and then complain about it being loud/noisy, doesn't drive like their lexus, etc, etc. In my family, we've had way more problems with the Toyota's (Both cars and 4Runner) and the F150 I had.
      To comment on the Bronco's, which I do like. I know many many people who've had tons of problems with them. When I had my F150 in for repairs for the upteenth time, I told the service writer I was going to trade if for the Bronco they had in the showroom. She said "you don't know problems until you get a Bronco. They are the worst vehicle for trouble Ford sells".

    Electric motor is noisy????
    How does Tesla make quiet cars?
    The company knows these off-roaders just want bare minimum… so that’s what they give you.
    Keep should make an upgraded version that works excellent on the real road as well… then they could charge more for that model. But they cannot sell the bare minimum off readers and trying to charger 100k.
    Lunatics
