    I highly recommend a Buttkicker if you don't already have one - I've got one on my H3, and it can connect to DCS via an API and actually understands in-game events like weapons release, wheels touching down, buffeting of the wings, etc, and plays the correct "audio" file for each, but instead that ends up being basically a silent subwoofer that shakes you. Truly took my motion+VR game to the next level!

For flying motion compensation is needed, I find it makes me sick racing, though. Nascar is a blast on there. You can feel the air the cars around you are pushing.

    • @WilliamDeanPlumbing
      @WilliamDeanPlumbing 12 дней назад +1

      @@liazkam worth it? Well I would say it depends on your level of interest in dcs/apache. I have a saying, "spend your money where you spend your time" so if you only play once a month or less.... Probably not.
      It did though hugely improve my accuracy in flight, like he says in the video, "helicopters are feel of the pants flying" and you definitely feel what's going on with a Sim rig. My only disappointment is that so far there seems to be no "verticle heave"

    • @PoorYurik
      @PoorYurik 8 дней назад

      @@WilliamDeanPlumbing vertical heave does work, even with an H3 via pitch. If it isn't working with your rig, you may just need to enable and tweak the settings for it in SRS.

    Mover, thanks for your discosures and your assessment of motion sims for the home. I have often thought about designing one for a Piper PA-46 using G1000 sim parts. I sort of need a flight model to makeit happen,more than an AFM! I am building an F/A-18C simpit for DCS and your comments have pushed me even farther over budget now by adding 6DOF to the pit! 😂. I am using Mixed Reality and currently fly: 1) F/A-18C, 2) F-5E, 3) P-51D. I am a GA pilot and DCS has massively improved my SA plus forced a reliance on flows, checklists and hammering home procedures. Not that diff from Level D recurrent rides in the P121 or P135 arenas I suspect. Wonder how much the mil uses sims for training once in a sqdrn. I just got a Moza AB9 to become my primary center stick (still use springed side stick for my viper) and already had the apache collective from Virpil. The FFB stick flying helos is the best! Being able to correctly use the trim has changed my approaches and took away a lot of the up and down pitch that I had.
    Mover, look into alternatives for helicopter flying besides what you already have especially in the FFB realm. My apache collective works great for any other DCS copter.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia 12 дней назад

      I can only agree, having an FFB base like that is a game changer for real. Never went to the fancy sticks from the SideWinder FFB2 because of that and finally was able to upgrade without having to wait for quite an amount of time to get the VPForce Rhino, which also is more expensive. But that one has the best software so far as I've heard. Got a total of 17.5cm of extensions from MFG (the dude that makes the Crosswind pedals) installed as well and the whole thing is mounted to my desk with a long Monstertech mount. That was the best hardware upgrade I've done in ages...

    G-force simulation
    A few years ago I met a guy on a flight sim convention in Sinsheim Germany.
    He made something like a air force g-suit, a jumpsuit with several "balloons" in it.

    Eventually I'll get my own, but I always wind up faster in a static rig, same as ik faster in VR than triples.

    for flight this definately looks cool and additive to the immersion for takes offs and landings, pattern flying. I'm curious how well it keeps up for more fast-paced flight dog-fighting, missile evasion, etc - does the rig get it to awkward positions where it's boundary of motion requires resetting in a way that makes the movement different from what the game is doing (and making motion sickness more likely?) - curious too about learning the "science" of the settings in the profile set-up. I've often read about the SimShaker JetPad seat from "Andre's shop". Never managed to get one and I don't know how hard it is to get one nowadays as they're based in Russia... that thing takes telemetry data from sims includung FFB output, so it doesn't just shake based on audio, but also when an FFB stick would do so, so you'd get that pre-stall buffeting and stuff with it. Adding an FFB stick base like the Moza AB9 or VPForce Rhino (Virpil and WinWing have some announced as well IIRC) is a must as well, probably the most important step to take in that regard. Helps a lot with more realistic trim behaviour.

    i love my H2 wich i have for 2 years now. That thing with VR is just awesome. i mainly fly in DCS with it and i can recomment the Belt Tensioner from PTActuator wich works out of the Box with SRS Software. It gives a good feeling of pulling G´s. I Mean not only a little pull, you really think about pulling hard on the Stick.
    I also Race from time to time with mine and its also very good.
    For that amount of Money its a really Bang for a Buck. The H6 isnt necessary i think. Maybe the H3 would be better for me but i can upgrade.
    Also flying Helicopter like the Apache or Huey are somewhat awesome. When you lift up and you dialed your settings right, you feel instant when in the Air.
    It takes a bit time to get settings right, tune and setup Motion Compensation for VR and getting all your Peripherals on that Rig but in the End i have a Motion Rig in my Living Room where i can fly and drive wherever and whatever i want in such a high Fidelity Feeling.
    enjoy yours and if you want i have a few Videos on my channel featering my H2 in different Sims.

    Looks like a blast, but not everyone can afford to spend $7000 on a luxury item like this. Retirement goals maybe 😂.

      Divide by how many hours you will use it, and it then seems more reasonable. 🤣

    Thanks a lot for this video. I am almost there... ordering one I mean... I have the Next Level 3 V3 seat mover - which of course only moves the seat. It helps a bit in racing sims but useless (more or less) in flight sims. I can offord the DOF H6 or P6 for that matter. My worry is how to put it all together actually. Software I usually figure out, but I hate putting even Ikea furniture together... ONE important question - did you get the Flight version of DOF H6. I understand the versions are a bit different when it comes to motors/gear and how fluid motion you can get, and that also impacts the price.

      @CWLemoine  12 дней назад +1

      They’re all identical minus mounting hardware as far as I know. It’s all in tuning.

      @@CWLemoine Thanks for you reply. The Heli and Flight versions I think are the same. They got SFU and extra smooth gearboxes, but racing version don't and it costs 500 dollar less too. From DOF website about the difference: "The difference and advantage over the racing version is the additional gearbox on each motor, which provides extra smoothness for the slow motions present in flight simulations." So I was wondering because early buyers of the DOF got what I think was more in line of the racing version, and they found it often too jerky in the movements for smooth flying. So I was wondering what your experience was in that regard, and which version they send you :)

    • @CWLemoine

      @@CWLemoine Thanks! :) I understand that the value is better for other sims than the F-16. I have flown (most) home computer and PC flight sims since 1983, and F-16 sims have always been my favorite. Falcon... since 1988, Falcon 3.0 in 1991... I was sure it couldn't get more real.. ;) Falcon 4 1998, Falcon BMS, DCS version... Of course, never a real F-16 :)
      This is a long read, so feel free to skip it. But, I actually got to fly a real F-16 Simulator in 2001, one of the Norwegian Airforce ones. For 60 minutes :) It was not moving, but I was sitting in a real F-16 cockpit, with three projectors displaying the picture on a big wide screen in front of me. It was the closest thing I will ever be to flying a real jet /F16. I did almost a perfect landing on my first attempt. Beside my cockpit was a F-16 pilot whom I knew from High School (that is how I got to try the simulator, through him). So he kinda gave me instructions and advice. But after I landed, the door from the control room opened and an older fat air force major entered the room and asked if I had tried the their AirForce F-16 simulator before. The F-16 pilot standing beside my cockpit said "No, he has only been flying on his PC". The older air force major replied "Computers....fucking computer games... they are getting scary now." Hehe. Now,..I understand flying the real thing and a 2001 Air Force F-16 simulator is far from the same. But a funny story anyway :) For me at least. Maybe I'll get a DOF H6 anyway now. Thank you for you service and the content you make.

    I'm pretty comfortable saying a 6 DOF motion setup is at the top of anyone's wishlist who even casually plays anything sim related. It's just the pricing is a bit much for most people's blood. All of us in the hobby already know everything sim-related is on the more expensive end of the video game hobby scale and there's always some better piece of kit to lust after, but when the rig is ~8k and it's just a blank slate until you bolt another ~1-2 grand of your pre-existing racing/flying gear onto it, it's a bit daunting.
    I remember looking at motion rigs many years back when they started to be a thing that the average customer could buy and put in their room and not just relegated to the commercial/professional space, and the prices these days are virtually no better than what they were then. Upwards of 8 grand for a 6 DoF rig, with even the much less impressive 3 DoF rig pushing 4 grand is a tall ask. I had high hopes that by now with tech always getting better smaller and cheaper as the years roll by and with economies of scale that these things would of started to come down in price, but eesh. Maybe if I hit the scratch-off lottery ticket jackpot one of these days I'll grab one.

What do you think can be simulated from what you can share with us? Is DCS the place for the F-35? What role should the F-35 play in the sim that we have? What would its strengths be?

      3DOF platform vs 6DOF. I'm not sure how it would be better for anything.

      @@CWLemoine Looks like it has more range of motion. An unrestricted climb in the Yaw looks like a ton of fun. They have a 6 and a 3-degree version. I have not used either platform, just going by videos I found on RUclips, so I could be way off.

    Next goal: find a used SEGA R360 and find a way to mount this rig inside it and adapt it so that they can work together!
    It most likely won't ever work, but one can dream.
    Also I know that they are very old arcade games so nothing even remotely near a simulation, but have you ever got a chance to try one of them (the SEGA R360 I mean) and if so what did you think of them? :)

    Curious, with the vr headset changing what you see based on the motion of your head, and the rig changing your attitude based on export from the sim, how you prevent that motion from compounding and exaggerating the view change in the headset?
