I've an acquaintance who has the .25, and the comment I heard today was that if he took 10 shots with it un-moderated, his neighbor would be calling in a shooting.
I have the .25 and it is NOT backyard friendly. You would have to have a very large yard and the neighbor the same. A moderator is a must. I use a Donny Tanto, it works great and the updated adapter is a must have when using a moderator.

I was of the impression that you only needed the extension adapter for moderators bigger than the Tanto or KOI. I heard that you can still have some clearance for the fill cap if you use those because their width is skinny enough to get it off. I also want mine to be backyard friendly. I live on lake and have a decent size yard and space between the neighbors but I feel like sound travels across the water. I shot a CO2 bb pistol the other day and felt like everyone on the lake could've heard it if they were outside. How much of a difference do hear with the Tanto? I couldn't hear much of a difference between the Tanto and something like the Donny Sumo so I was just gonna go for the cheaper option but I'd pay a bit more if it was a real difference. From what I've seen the Tanto is almost on par with the bigger moderators but would you call your .25 backyard friendly with it? I live in Massachusetts and I'm not trying to get the cops called on me lol.
Regarding noise reduction… noise values are logarithmic, and a 3dB reduction in noise is HALF as loud. So a 6dB reduction reduces the noise by 75%. In acoustics 3dB change is a LOT.
Good video, sir. I have a .177 Air Venturi Avenger on the way. I got the TANTO, and the Avenger adapter, because the TANTO, being skinny at 1.22 inches in diameter, may make it even easier to get the Foster fitting cover off the gun, withoutt having to remove the TANTO whenever I need to rei-fill the Avenger. I had to decide which one to get, the .177/.22 version or the .22/.25 version. I was advised to get a mod one size larger than my gun''s caliber. I called DonnyFL and was told the .177/.22 would do me good, so that's what I bought. It'll probably be here before the gun. I already have a SUMO on my .25 Daystate Wolverine R HP and the SUMO really quietened that .25 down. So, I'm confident the TANTO will do the same for the .177 Avenger.
8 Db reduction, would you be willing to make a video on the compensator I have designed? My current readings from a decimeter is a 13 Db reduction on a .25 Cal Gauntlet. I've never shot a DonnyFL so I would like to know what someone who has thinks in comparison. I am still tuning the design even more, trying to achieve 20 Db in reduction. Current dimensions are 4" x 1.4".

Thanks for your comment. I don't speak enough audio science to say such things myself, but I believe you are right. When you look at the numbers it looks like an 8-10% reduction, but it is much, much more than that.
10 dB is double in "loudness" not 6dB. IIRC 6dB as double would refer to the sound pressure effect or voltage gain, but when it comes to perceived "loudness" 10dB is the half/double.
Great Video, I would have Liked to see the Difference in Accuracy with the DonnyFL adaptor on and without it Installed to say 50 yards and maybe 100 yards in a Gun vise so hold precision would not be the limiting factor. I would think the Adaptor would keep the Muzzle end of the Barrel supported & stabilized through the shot cycle. Then see same Test with adaptor, with DFL Tatsu Mod On, compared to the Other two setups mentioned.
another Question I have is with the Donny FL adaptor Installed, i would Like to Know if Any Muzzle end of the Barrel Movement can be detected? is all Barrel Movement removed? i guess a Dial indicator with a pushing device to measure the side to side of the Muzzle end of the barrel Movement, would be needed.
The challenge for a 50 and 100 (on my range) is the wind. My Avenger is .177 and there's just too much wind variation on most days to do any testing that has any sense of scientific control.
@@garywest3763 It is not a snug fit over the barrel...it will shift an un-centered barrel, but it doesn't make a press fit connection within the shroud. I do not know what the gap is and do not have the tools to measure it.
Would this work for the Benjamin Marauder .22? I watched some reviews most had 70 ish decibels about 10 feet away. Mine is 92 Decibels. Reason I purchased the Marauder was to shoot quietly And practice shooting without driving an hour away or going to an indoor gun range.
@@WiscAirGunners hello.. very thanks for you writing.... any of the videos I did see didn't show it as I was desire... bud after I wrote you I did take the nut of once again and by the use of a flashlite and moving the part still inside with small tread on it i connect the nut lightly on it so to pull it out.. you may name that peace shroud... I was surprise to see how short it was.. for me that short pice of construction do create falce air turbulence in the front end that do influence the pellet... that's what an extender don't and so it give more accuracy because he do pass 30 mm over the barrel creating a tunnel together til the end although not tide on it.
Does the adapter (without a can) offer any reduction by itself? seems like a bit of a waste to not have any internal baffles? I just got a .25 cal and agree, at a decent power level it is not "backyard friendly" without additional moderation. Really kinda wish more people were offering 3d printable options for these rifles.

I had a hook-up at a local rural fire department, but lost that so I bit the bullet (or pellet) and got a compressor. Trenier Outdoors may if your on the western part of the state. I'd call scuba shops and ask. Most of them can, it's a question of if they will.
I started looking into the adapter because I found several references that hint or state that the adapter will address the accuracy issues that many of us are experiencing at ranges beyond 25 yards (this is why your video came up in my search and why I watched it). The DonnyFL video claims some sound reduction based only on the installation of the adapter. All of this said, I have two questions... 1. Did you take a measures with the stock parts installed? 2. Did you do any accuracy testing before, with only the adapter and with the suppressor installed?
I didn't measure "before." The rifle was too loud for my backyard. In-line with answer 1, I didn't pull the trigger too many times before deciding it needed some "hush." Sorry I can't be more helpful.
I’m having issues with it screwing all the way in. Stops after going in about 1/4 of the threads. I’ve removed the shroud to make sure it wasn’t hanging on the barrel and it’s not. It’s centered .. it’s almost like the thread pitch is off.
Don't have one to test. I've heard good things. The challenge with printed stuff is longevity. That end of the barrel tends to get banged around more than it should. Printing gets better all the time. It's a great time to be an airgunner!
Just received the Donnyfl extender for my Avenger and it won't slide all the way on. It stops about an inch short of the threads. I asked about this through the Donnyfl website and they recommended I lightly sand my barrel to get it to fit. Did you have any issues with the extender or did it fit properly from the start?
Thanks for sharing! If I have picky neighbors do you think the suppressor brings it down to very reasonable discrete levels? I shoot a daisy 880 with 7-5 pumps and that’s fine (10 pumps with 3D printed suppressor), now I’m looking at lower end pcps.

that was the dumbest design air venturi did to this rifle, makeing the barrel the same lenth as the fill tube. and the stock isnt worth having. i bought on for myself, and didnt have it two days before i started building a new custom stock. i also started making surpressors for this rifle and plan to sell the on ebay. and on my youtube channel Bison workshop.
For a .177 mine had a pretty good crack right out of the box. It made the deer run, and I want to shoot without startling them. If they don't bolt, I know the gun won't stress cows when I'm in the barns.

I have a Tanto on my Bantam Sniper and it is very effective. I like the look of the Tatsu on my Avenger, but I'm betting the Tanto looks good too!
I e got the same set up and I have to be very careful when I disconnect that I don’t nick the adapter/ suppressor. The adapter works with care.

That's because of how decibels are, they are logarithmic, and so a 10db reduction is HALF as loud (110 vs 120 = literally half as loud)

You need a different adapter. The part number is A7, and I'd pair it with the #S61 Sumo.

Unthread the original endcap. If it is tight some gentle heat might help.

I did not notice it being quieter with the adapter and no moderator, but it wasn't any louder either.

The Tanto .22/25 does a good job on the .22 and the Tanto .25/30 works well on the .25.

A moderator is essential on the Avenger. It's a good rifle, but even my .177 is loud without the moderator.
Where can I Buy that adapter for my air venturi 177? Please.

Yes it does, and the bullpup should design is a little more robust so it can handle a heavier moderator.

Im lazy but not that lazy just take the donny off and refill come on people.
Another option...but if you want it to be moderated you'll have to add an adapter of some sort.
Huma silencer way to go build it and you get half the donny sound and better groups
Thats not been our experience with the Huma Mods, but if they work for you, then that's what I'd go with.
