    The theme for this class is the yogic teaching of Bramacarya, which is about not wasting our energy, and really harnessing it to nurture our spiritual practise . For the ancient yogi, who was typically a man, living in a cave, renounced from the world, Bramacarya meant celibacy. For the modern yogi on a householders path, Bramacharya is more about consciously channeling our precious life force energy towards fulfilling our highest potential and not letting it leak out through all the myriad of distractions, lifestyle habits, addictions or relationships that don't serve us on our path to evolving spiritually and living out our dharma.
    Our intention for this practise on the mat is to remember our connection to that precious energy and the commitment that we’ve made to our practise.
    As we move through our practise we are conscious of not wasting our energy at all.
    Remember asana's purpose is simply to keep the body fit for meditation. So we don't really need 1000 chaturangas or to get the legs behind the head in order to keep the body fit for meditation. We do however want to do a balanced practise working all the poses that support good postural alignment and not just the ones that feel good in our body.
    Yoga is one of the best ways to build functional strength in the body :)
