I have the Vortec Ecu with the reeds pulled and stock exhaust. Runs with as much seat of the pants power as the Akropovic I have, but keeps its stealth nature.
Honestly you already know about Taco moto so your ahead right there. Mike knows KTM enduros inside and out. I watched a video of his that he got a bike with an internally broken shifter apart on the side of the mountain and put it in 2nd and had the guy ride it out. He is a cool dude.
I have a 2022 EXC model now use to have a 2019 model. I agree with your assessment of power and not needing an aftermarket ECU and uncorking as a whole, where you would consider doing such is if you ride at high elevations a lot, which I do over 13K at times. When your above 10K elevation the ECU upgrade is very much noticeable.
I had the 350 and 250 versions of the exc-f. I've also owned a DRZ400. The KTM's are dirt bikes with lights. I rode my DRZ to work, gym, and on the trails. Would never ride one of my KTM's to the gym or work. My take is the KTM's are not dual sports they are trail connectors. The Honda CRF400l and the DRZ are true dual sports. The insane thing about the 500 is that it's already close to $15,000 (with sales tax that's what my dealer wants) out the door and still needs several thousand more to make it right.
I’d agree and say the Hondas and drz’s are better dual sports, but I’ve put probably 75% of my miles were on pavement with this 500 and it does awesome.
From an experienced rider . Where do you spend time ; road , dirt : be honest ! The best mod is so simple one tooth off the front socket and drop the gearing down " DIRT" : it is still way fast enough for highway driving ;but, not the best " revs a little too high vibrates TOO MUCH " but still fast and strong enough to get you home safe. That being said That one tooth will change bike in to a hot off road beast . . Drive it there have a blast then drive it home. Chain and sprockets . Maintenance anyway " Chain and sprockets " Keep the stock set ,quick to change .now you have a replacement at worse . Now you play with the bike get it hit strong at the RPM you want it too. After that you start tuning the engine ,suspension , seat , sound, What is it to you. A little more road and some fun single path " Adventure " ; or a short street legal riding and meet up with some buddy's and hit the dirt have a hoot and drive it home wail they load the pickups :) You have a NICE bike there man:) Don't go just mod it because said that is what he said. Make it yours! CHEERS :) and thumbs up. I think it will be my next bike. >f!cking $$ pricey Fing dirt bike :) . I do think it is the best in its class . you got a sub . Give us up dates, ride vids.
I have the same biker and skid plate goes on in about 1 min 30 secs. I seen several videos on here of using the supplied hardware which is a nightmare. I simply just used the mounting hardware that is on the KTM frame. Drill two holes in the skid plate and mount it. Takes a few seconds to get it off for oil changes. I looked he hardware that came with it and tried to make that work. Ridiculous! They should not sell that hardware with it and pre drill holes.
Hey man! I just wanted to inform you when you take a hit on your grab handle on the exhaust. Your mounts will bend badly. Just use the plastic handle grooved in the plastic! Stay safe & have fun! Edit: I see there isn't a cut to grab back there on your 23. I got a 16'
@user-kv3id7bo9z on the older models there had been grooves in the plastic in the back fender to pick the bike up. I see ktm took them off the newer bikes
Nice bike you did mint with the ktm check out tricked out ktm on u tube see what I did to mine vortec ecu and a pipe take the reeds out and it is a machine
I used to run the 606 on the front, great at all speeds on the road but it lacks in the soft dirt, sand and loose stuff. Now I run the tractionator desert. It's awsome on the soft stuff but lacks at higher speeds on the highway. I don't ride much highway so for me it's a better traid off

As an Australian I was more impressed with the Silverado!! Thing is a beast. We have some here but I probably only see one maybe once every two weeks.

You genuinely wouldn't ride them on the road? I have put over 10k miles on 3 different 500s ive had. 2016, 2017, 2022. LOVE this bike on the road.

I love the typical gear head rationale. You would never ever need more power, but I’m gonna get more power anyway haha. Nice bike man!
Hey I appreciate your review a lot

Ordered mine in August 15 for bike another 4 grand to make the motor breathe rite .interest to see how it comes out kx 500 rider let’s make it move
500 vs 450 vs 350 is my problem lol
Carbon up clutch cover cmt carbon fiber tank covers and the rear mud flap wheel that slavens racing sells the flap will chauf the shock mount
Love my 21 . Taco moto has all the goodies to make it bad ass . Also my acerbis skid plate fits good so not sure what’s up there .
Try a dunlop d 606 rear tire
On my 2nd "500" Best beast you can ride bar none......!
Why don’t you put that Bridgestone M59 front tire on ? Heard those are the cream of the crop for single track …
Yeah if some slow kid wouldn’t have already paid me for it.
The Hondas gonna be more reliable
Whats the company name of the tail tidy your using?
