Alabama History Day is a state affiliate of National History Day - a year-long program that offers students (grades 6-12) a creative and dynamic way to engage with history. In the process, students become researchers and present their work imaginatively - as authors, artists, filmmakers, designers, and playwrights.
Students who place first or second at Alabama History Day each spring are eligible to advance to the National History Day competition held in Maryland and Washington, D.C., each summer. Special topic-based awards are also offered at our state contest.
Alabama History Day is a great project-based learning tool and curriculum aid for history teachers. But teachers of English, creative writing, art, graphic design, drama, film, and more can also incorporate this creative project into their courses!
