    Jay, got me thinking of the Reipel tool, I seen it on Tonys Cool Tool channel, he does a lot of tool reviews and uses based in the tree cutting/firewood accessories. It is a tree jack that pushes and pre pushes the tree in the direction you want it fall. Not fully fluent in all that it does but the rope winch you used sparked the memory in my mind. Great video and no better job is the job you get paid to have fun doing. 👍🏻

      I’ve seen those! I like the rope. I think you get more leverage with the rope versus the jack spring but I know what you’re talking about! Plus I wanna get good with the sling shot as I plan to use that to set ropes for climbing.

    Right on. I've never been able to use a double hinge correctly; it always pops out. Good job looking up.

    Awesome job. That sling shot tool is awesome. I have never seen anything like that. What you’re doing takes a lot of skill. I have cleared acres upon acres over the years, but I definitely don’t have your trees cutting skills. Of course, the type of work I do is a lot different because we are removing the stumps for new construction. Typically we don’t cut the trees down. We dig around them and push them over then cut the stumps off. But of course, that is because we are doing a different type of work and have to remove the stumps. No doubt if I was on that job site of yours, I would have sent a tree through that house if all I had was those ropes and wedges. Ha ha ha.

    Great job, Jay. Nothing like doing work you enjoy. When I'm working on firewood, I view it as exercise that saves me money.

    I've got the same sling shot and it works great. I hold mine the opposite way, with the "Y" on the bottom when I launch so the bag doesn't get tangled. Also, using a throw line cube is a must to keep it from getting tangled.

      I also have the y facing down it seems to work alot better that way

    Nice video, do you think if you did the face wedge cut then figured your 15% holding wood and plunge cut horizontal and parallel to the wedge cut and put wedges on either side (spring wedge method) then do your back cut it would have made a difference in felling?

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Месяц назад

      No not really each tree needed to be wedged and pulled. The rope pretensioning plus the back wedges gave it the lift it needed. The rope was also an extra safety as we had houses and structures in striking distance.
