I hope his behind feels better. Those cactus can be horrible, especially if you have to take parts of them home. Glad he got the rope bag. That was an achievement in itself. You guys probably don't think so, but to people like me who can't do this kind of activity, it's amazing. Thanks for the take-a-long.
Those fantastic, awe-inspiring rocks / canyons are a spiritual experience for me --- even vicariously thru video. -- mesmerizing. The rappels from such great heights were a little concerning, but stunning for us armchair thrill seekers. Love the shadow shots.
Yes, That's why I love Sedona. It is a spiritual experience, just to walk and look around. I have wanted to return since my first visit. Your video has made me want to return this year for sure. I won't, be climbing or going down on a rope like you guys, that is not in my plans. I can settle for watching and enjoying you guys. It looks like great fun, but at 78, I am happy to just watch. Great video. Thank you for sharing it.
Thankful that the algorithm recommended your “Thanks 2024” video. New to the channel and love the videos. Was interested in the cameras you use. They are wonderfully shot.
Thank you and welcome aboard! My main camera was a GoPro 11. I might upgrade when they make one with a new sensor, but I love the 11. I've recently been trying a Osmo Pocket 3 for more 'cinematic' video, but it's not as rugged and it's pickier than the GoPro when it comes to lighting. I use a Canon EOSR with a 35mm f1.8 for macros and have a couple of drones thrown in for good measure.
I'm new to rope work, what kind of a repel device is that? I'm down to JUST an ATC now. I got comment at one of the local crags that it was hard to watch me haha First climb was with prussic and fireman's belay. Several rappels later, no more fireman's and no more prussic. Had my heart racing when you traversed that edge with the exposure! Gravity definitely makes the heart race!
That's a hoodoo, but I'm probably switching to a sqwurel. They are more for canyoneering than climbing and allow you to add friction on the fly easier. You can add friction on an ATC as well, but it's just not quite as easy. I have only started climbing and climbers definitely approach things different from canyoneers. Climbers seem to dislike rappels whereas canyoneers love them. Troy and Moonjuice are more climbers, which is why they have extended ATC's, prussiks, etc. and I don't. A climber wants that for redundancy (in the event your brake hand slips or there is some other problem), whereas canyoneers would be more focused on how the prussik could catch on the lip. There are a lot of ways to do things in these sports and people will argue with you for hours about which is right. Personally, I don't feel qualified to give advice, other than to go with people who you trust and who know what they're doing and learn from them.
@@JerryArizona I'd love to do some canyoneering! Originally I bought gear as my friend wanted me to do that with him and hasn't yet but I found some climbing friends in meantime! Great video, keep it up! They're fun to watch :) I'll look into hoodoos and sqwurels
I’ve done mushroom drops, but not in sadona. I’ve done them in VT, NH, MA, CT, WA, OR, and CA, lol, oh almost forgot IL. Haha, and NY. I think that’s it?
Just gonna be a momma bear and say please don't skip the step of checking rope integrity before each climb! Looked like tons of fun, especially if you do not bring any nuts!
I'm hesitant to say since each type of block has it's place. Personally I usually can get by with a biner block. Mainly because I tend to stay in more beginner friendly canyons.
Yeah. There are plenty of options. He just decided that was the best at the time. I don't think it took him a full five minutes from noticing the bag to having it untangled and being down out of the tree.
Good catch. The first is Chopin. Fur Elise is Beethoven. I used to play classical music piano back when my fingers were flexible before arthritis. This producer's music choice is a lot different than most, and he doesn't play it loud. I wonder if his Mrs. picks the play list?

Behind feels fine Connie! 😅
@@MoonJuiceHikes I've just had a few stuck in my wrist and ankles. Don't wanna think about your situation.
Love that outfit and the goofing around.
Once again, great scenery, great music, great content, you’re the best Jerry. Your line, Physics and Gravity hilarious.
Spectacular video!!!!! Thanks! A great day in the desert!!!! Life is good!!!!
Cool shadow shot, wow, that looks scary high.
Personally, I could never do that. My vertigo was triggered just watching you walk round that first rock face! Great outdoors thrills 🙌
Wonderful place !!!! Thanks Jerry.
Fun seeing Troy’s footage of that rope
in the tree debacle, while listening to him tell the story. What a fun weekend!
Man, he was waaaaay up in that tree.

Fun to watch Jerry, but that's another that I won't be adding to my "to do" list. I still want to visit Sedona again though.
looks super fun
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing.
Many happy & safe trails for the new year! :-)

I want to start filming my bikepacking and appreciate the information. Look forward to following along on your journeys.
Out standing video.
Jeez, I love Sedona!🤎
Great to see you out there on the repels after the shoulder has healed up over last year. Looking forward to more great vids in 25. All the best.
Kickass!!

You have been very busy. Get your lawn mowed? Washed your vehicle?
I have hiked Sedona. No mushroom drops there though. Lawn mowed? Check…. Car washed, paint corrected, ceramic coated, check. Life is good!

What’s your go to for blocking? Biner block, 8 block or the fiddle stick?

Some ascending gear could have solved that prusik issue pretty easily.

I hear ya. It did look kinda sketchy though (no lock off), not gonna lie LOL. Glad he got out of that OK.

They're definitely weird. But just crazy enough to have fun.

Beethoven is always good
He would’ve been a hell of a drummer !
Thanks to you and your buds!
