It’s so crazy how good your videos are, and views and subscribers don’t match what you deserved. The shots, editing, adventures, camera weight and just quality is a joy to watch. I was looking for hiking videos in Arizona and Utah and found your videos and a fan from the first video and been watching so many of them. Thank You for your work and adventures, new subscriber.
Awesome video. I hiked the North Rim trail down and back in 1985 and this video shows how beautiful but taxing it is. In July, 2022, I was in the ER in Flagstaff. My room mate was a 70 year old from Illinois who attempted this trail with his sons. He collapsed near the bottom and was rescued by the park service with a helicopter. He had nothing but kind words for the park service. The group had done research and done most things right. But this video shows how taxing the hike can be even going down. The two sons reversed steps and hiked back to the north rim. It was very difficult for them. Well done to Jerry and Tina and this is one of the most beautiful videos ever. Thank you!
Haha! Thanks for the shoutout at 18:10! Love ya Tina, I’m glad I could be the D*ck this time! I was routing for you guys and I’m so glad you accomplished it! It’s a beast of a hike. Jerry, great job shooting this…you made me feel every step down in the box. And the music was genius! You really captured the struggle and the heat that makes this hike so difficult. It was crazy to see the Colorado so murky and brown…so different than the crystal clear water you and I had in March. So happy for you guys and great job creating a masterpiece to relive it! Hope to see you guys again soon! -Clint
Yeah man. We'll get that South Kaibab to Bright Angel Trip eventually.....maybe we should go up Hermit's. Not sure if I can convince Tina to tag along or not after this one.
@@JerryArizona hey you convinced her to tackle this…they say it’s like child birth…remember all the good and only a portion of the bad. Just enough to make you crazy enough to go at it again!
Proud of you Tina! You did it! I hiked to Phantom Ranch back when I was about 12 with my family from the South Rim. It was great fun then. Went back in my twenties with some army type leather boots. My Achilles’ tendon felt like it was being hit by a hard object coming back out every step. Never thought to go bare foot (that would have been better!). And I never went back again either. It is grueling! But, quiet beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us! Well done!
Thank you so much for this adventure ! Lovely all around and your wife is a real trooper. Found your channel on my recommendations and subscribed. Thank you...
Hi Jerry, Another great hiking video. You captured some magnificent landscape plus wildlife beautifully. Great camera work! Also very entertaining dialogue between you and Tina. My most memorable hikes usually include a certain amount of pain and suffering. I hope Tina reflects back on this rim-to-rim hike, after she has recovered, and views it as a positive experience instead of being a sufferfest.
My buddy invited me along on a grand canyon backpacking trip earlier this year. Got me hooked. I was so glad I was able to get Phantom Ranch and take Tina on a rim to rim hike. We've been back twice since and have another trip on the books for later this year. Amazing place.
Excellent video. You're a fun hiking partner. I have property a little over an hour from the Grand Canyon. I've hiked twice this year at the South Rim, but only to the first reststop. It's magnificent. Thanks for taking us along.
Wonderful narration of the trip for those of us who have not, and especially for those who probably will not, make the trip. I felt like I got to have a wonderful, very realistic and complete tour of a very beautiful hike. Excellent job of putting together a comprehensive and immersive tour.

thank you, this was lovely to see! l'm about to hike this July 2-July 8 and staying 2 nights at phantom ranch. now I know what I am in for. wow, training now :) ❤❤❤
Definitely be careful with that kind of heat. This was September, so (maybe) cooler than you'll see. Definitely want to take off early. UV protection, salt chews (lifesavers!), electrolytes, etc. Be careful and enjoy.
Beautiful hike. I did a rim to rim a few years ago, but that Cabin is a game changer! We did it in 4 days in May. My toes hurt so bad after going down from the North Rim that I ended up hiking in crocs for the final 3 days. They felt amazing. I had a permit to do Hermits Trail and Tonto Trail for 5 days about the same time you did this one. We were pretty worried about the heat warnings and not having water going up BA trail, so we were able to re-permit for late October. I'm not regretting my decision to delay! Thanks for the great video and commentary. I love that you both have a great sense of humor.
Much better to hike in the cooler weather. Unfortunately they close the north rim right when the weather gets good. Tonto trail is great. Did part of that on a backpacking trip earlier this year. The canyon is amazing and addictive!
Jerry and Tina good to see you out and about. Long story short did rim to river to rim in a day 91 and 93 bright angel and kaibab trails south side only. You guys did great. Love the video and keep it up.
Tina's pretty alright. Despite her protests about never hiking the Grand Canyon again, I keep getting permits and planning hikes there......(That's probably why she's always giving me the finger.)
That is perfect. Some people watch my videos and say "Why do you even hike when you complain about it?" They don't get that the suffering and hard work is part of the fun. Even when it's not fun.
@@JerryArizona I raced whitewater slalom years ago. The day my hair got frozen to the inside of my helmet comes to mind. As you said it's part of the memory. Doing a Grand Canyon commercial river trip 5/18/24. The Canyon is one of my favorite destinations. Jerry, many people are living their dreams through you. Stay safe
I did it in 1987 when I was 26. Down the South Kaibab, then a day or two later up the Bright Angel - the longest day of my life - and that was in January!
Another enjoyable video from you two. Enjoyed the footage Jerry took of the trail to and from Ribbon Falls as few take the time to record that portion. Sporty look with the hat Jerry…kinda reminds me of the tequila salt sombrero I use to salt the rims of my margarita glasses. Sporty look….congratulations to Tina for preserving on such a difficult outing and thanks for sharing..
Tina did great. And she has already been talked into going back. This time, I'm ditching the Puerto Penasco hat for something like hers. Not sure how I can make fun of her hat if I'm wearing the same one, but I'm sure I'll find a way.
Oh my gosh u two crack me up!! Tina I soooo know your pain! My husband and I hiked the hermit trail last year in October and even though it was breathtaking and amazing I thought I was gonna die before we finished. We did a 3 night 4 day backpacking trip down to the Colorado river and it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. Great job!!!
I am watching this video from a tugboat in Nome, Alaska, dreaming of rocks and trails and rivers and canyons and counting the days until I can lace up my hiking shoes. Thanks for another great video. It was a real morale booster ip here.
We just started watching your video and loved all of them. We think you guys are super cool. Your video wouldn’t be as amazing if there’s only one of you. Great partnership. Happy hiking guys.
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Unfortunately Tina works every other weekend, so I get out more than she does, but she'll be out there every chance she gets.
P.S. I enjoyed the video immensely! We went down to Phantom Ranch on mules many years ago but have wondered what it would be like to hike. This will probably be the closest I ever get. Thanks for the opportunity!
Amazing video Jerry! im totally with Tina on this one... i would have been the same... never again lol. Beautiful scenery (and not just you in the flipped-up hat!) thanks for sharing another breathtaking adventure!!
Love it!! This made me so excited for my PR trip in about a month. My friend was fortunate enough to nab PR reservations back in June. We had a trip planned for mid-September but the pipeline was busted so we got cancelled. We were rebooked for October... 15th... sorry Jerry. Everything you captured is what we loved about staying at Phantom: the lemonade, the showers, the steak, and the AC!! Thanks Jerry for another great video.
It doesn't help that I stick a camera in her face when she's at her most exhausted....But I blame her. She married me. She knew what she was getting into.
Another Big Ditch video! :) I might be a bit jealous. ;) I didn't realize there were so many bridges on the North Kaibab Trail. I've just done the Bright Angle Trail down to the river, then turned around and went back out on Christmas Eve years and years ago. Oh, and air conditioning!! I didn't know that existed down there either!
Man, I was so excited for the AC. I figured we'd have to sit outside in the shade or in the creek until it got dark and things cooled down. Phantom Ranch was amazing.
Another great video Jerry. So far I've been unsuccessful in obtaining a backcountry permit, but we'll just keep trying. I just returned from tent camping at Mather and day hiked Bright Angel and South Kiabab trails. I thought you might appreciate a short story. Your ears had to be burning. We were hiking Bright Angel and stopped for a break at the 1.5 mile Resthouse. We struck up a conversation with a group of guys, and it was not long until one of them mentioned your name. As it was, he too is a big fan of your channel and has also watched just about every video you've made. We visited 15 minutes sharing stories of your videos. It's almost like family.
That's crazy! I will never, ever get used to being recognized or the fact that people I've never met could meet and talk about these videos. I just love making them. And it's great that people enjoy them. I'll let you know a secret; just randomly check the current availability of Phantom Ranch online. As often as possible. That's how we got this. I didn't have any luck with the fax in reservation system for backpacking the main corridor.....although I'll keep trying that too.
Hi, I love your content. I discovered your channel because I was watching lots of rim to rim videos. I went to the Grand Canyon for the first time on 9/27/22 and hiked the North Rim to the South Rim via Bright Angel, just like you. I did not stay at Phantom Ranch though and completed the hike in 11 hours. Before watching this video I had been disappointed in myself for not taking better care of myself during the hike such that I did not have the energy to hike South to North the next day. Thanks for making me appreciate what I accomplished as a 60 year old, and not focus on what I did not accomplish. Next year I am hoping to go back and do rim to rim to rim in 2 days. Cheers!
Now i see what you were prepping for. Just awesome. This is your best video to date. You guys are such a great couple, I'm glad though that both Tina and you know your hard limits and don't push beyond that. It's not worth it, it's supposed to be fun. This is the best Grand Canyon hike viedo I;ve ever watched. Thank you both for the adventure and the good humor
You two are awesome! Loved your trip and video. Wife and kids did it twice. First time was with our daughter who was three and son was six. We stayed one night at bottom. Second time was with our other daughter who was also three and out son who fifteen at that time. Kelsey our other daughter who had went the first time had passed away with an astrosytoma tumor. The trip was awesome both times. We complained too but the kids were troopers on both trips. Oh how I would Love to do it again! Thanks for sharing and rekindle old memories❤Thank you, David
So sorry to hear about your daughter. But I'm glad you have those memories with her (and your other children.) It's incredible. (And impressive your kids made it that young!)
You guys are good people. I'm an avid reader and also quite the philosopher. I'm always looking for meaning, purpose and direction. You two are so lucky to have found each other....
I LOVE the Grand Cayon. Did R2R North to South and stayed in Women's Dorm at Phantom one night quite a few years ago. Always think about going again. Your video is wonderful & fuels the fire for a repeat visit. Congrats to you & Tina! Love that you got the cabin and made the trek. If you never do it again, you'll always have the memories & bragging rights of R2R. By the way, Canyon Magic is contagious. 🥰 LOL Tina - "I do what I want" clip.
Oh so much fun! Some years ago I went down the South Kaibab, stopped at Phantom Ranch for a drink, then went up the Bright Angel trail all in one day. It wasn't that bad. Or was it that bad. Yes it's really hot in the inner canyon. I was almost 40 then, I wouldn't try it now.
When I did BA earlier this year, it was a breeze. With a backpack. I kept telling Tina that. This time it was not. I think the extra 1,500ft of elevation gain from the Colorado and the heat probably contributed to the added difficulty. Still worth it.
Hahaha 22:22 her reaction, I am laughing so hard. She is such a strong woman!! I think I would die before finishing this hike. You both are incredible, cannot stop watching your videos! So inspiring!!! Adding more hikes to my bucket list ❤
Well, you guys struggled as seasoned hikers, so this cuts me out for ever doing this hike in and out. I have friends who have done this and they say, you can do it. I am afraid i would get down there and not be able to get back out. I wish I could hike down and helicopter out.
You can always break it up more. Indian Garden, Bright Angel and Cottonwood all have campgrounds to make it a 4 day/3 night trip. We saw groups of different fitness abilities down there. Some suffered more than others, but as far as I know, everyone made it out. Definitely want to work up to it and train though.
Loved it, perfectly captures the magic of the Grand Canyon. Production value on the video is amazing Jerry. Ask Tina what she thinks in a few months 😊. I’d love to get a spot at Phantom Ranch someday
Thanks for another great video. I haven’t done R2R but have done Rim To River To Rim via South Kaibab up Bright Angel twice. It was the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I got slight vertigo going down the switchbacks of South Kaibab at the very beginning both times. Never had it before or since. I agree with you that it has very spectacular views. I’d love to do the route the two of you did and for sure stay at Phantom Ranch. We all really appreciate the quality videos you put up for us. And OMG…from the 3 Mile Rest House up it was a killer !! I kept thinking it’s “just” going up Squaw Peak a couple of times 🤣
Thanks! I hiked out from Indian Gardens with a backpack earlier this year and it was so much harder this time coming from the river. Absolutely brutal. And like you said, it just doesn't end. Still worth it.
South Kaibab is more difficult I think. Shorter, but no shade, less water, steeper. Doing what you did in one day is more impressive than staying at Phantom for the night.
Awesome you two! I can’t quite convince my wife to hike this with me, although I am also persistent. Just excellent you two! This time Wanting to do Tonto’s Trail as well. Thanks for posting and always look forward to your posts!
Start her out on easier stuff with a big pay off. If she gets into it, work up from there. I did Hermit Trail to Granite Rapids to Tonto Trail to Bright Angel earlier this year. It was incredible and one of my favorite trips.
@@JerryArizona Yes, great plan Jerry! I certainly am going to do that and sure it will get Kathy excited to start exploring. Our son started me on Picacho Peak, type II fun until the reward at the top was so awesome! After that everything was achievable. Thanks Jerry!

I go out and I do a 3+ mile round trip (admittedly some of it is fairly rugged) hike and am all happy with myself then I see the latest hiking video you post and am just amazed.
And we met someone who did this entire hike twice in a single day! We all do what we can and as long as we have a good time, that's all that matters. Always someone else that can do more. Just hike your hike!
I've been wondering when you were going to do R2R. You can't be an Arizona Outdoors RUclips icon without it on your channel! I like your idea of cabin+steak at the bottom. We usually only stop for a bag of ice and some lemonade before heading back up the other side in the heat!
Jerry, My husband and I watch all your videos. Living vicariously for sure! Tina: I gotta know the name & brand of your hat. Seriously, freaking love it!!!
Congrats on going R2R, and fantastic job on the cinematography and editing! This was excellent! We ran it, mid-August, and I'm running it again, mid-Oct. Love being in the canyon. BTW, perfect choice of shoes. Had you done that in hiking boots, it would have been so much worse👍.
There is something magical about having food and a couple of beers in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Great video.
I swear I had about 6 lemonades. Awesome experience and Phantom Ranch did not disappoint.

Great video. I've done that trail and it beats you down pretty well. I dont blame her for being exhausted and a little cranky with you !!
Thank you for the videos. I get a real sense of these places. Some of which i have previously hiked. You confirm my experiences.
@@JerryArizona thanks for the tip Jerry. Just know there are a bunch of us out here in TV land that consider you a friend.
Cheers!
Definitely don't feel bad. The whole way we kept saying how it seemed impossible that anyone could do R2R in a single day. I couldn't do it, for sure.
Nor do I want to
Awesome video! I loved the music!
Thank you. I got an Artlist subscription and am really liking the music too.
Thank you! It was an amazing trip and worth all the preparation.
What a hard hike. So beautiful though. Glad it wasn't me. 🤣
You guys are good people.
I'm an avid reader and also quite the philosopher. I'm always looking for meaning, purpose and direction.
You two are so lucky to have found each other....
Congratylasion Gerry end Tina, is beautiful place, my wife end I Wil Go to grankenion nex year, we fron Brazil. The vídeo is amazing!!!
Nice Video as usual, way to go Tina!
First time visiting your channel and I was very entertained. I love the extras . Had me laughing so har. Tina is so funny. 😂
Thanks! And Tina is great, but don't let her know or it'll go to her head.
Amazing hike with the bridge view.
It was that bad. Then again, at 40 I was running up and down Camelback Mountain for fun, so maybe it would've been easy. Regardless, it's worth it.
Glad you guys finally did it. Must admit, going up Bright Angel was way easier than expected, not easy but easier than expected.
When I did BA earlier this year, it was a breeze. With a backpack. I kept telling Tina that. This time it was not. I think the extra 1,500ft of elevation gain from the Colorado and the heat probably contributed to the added difficulty. Still worth it.
Wow, incredible hiking adventure Jerry! The wildlife and the scenery are simply magnificent.
You two are awesome! So inspiring and freaking funny! Good job Tina on completing your first Grand Canyon rim to rim. Someday I hope to do the same!
Lovely music choices 🎵
Well done you two.
It's about time we did R2R!
Hahaha 22:22 her reaction, I am laughing so hard. She is such a strong woman!! I think I would die before finishing this hike. You both are incredible, cannot stop watching your videos! So inspiring!!! Adding more hikes to my bucket list ❤
Thanks! And I get that reaction from her a lot. Not that it's not deserved.....
Kudos to you two. Most excellent hike. Riding the mules down was part of my bucket list. Hiking rim to rim, Nah. Be proud of yourselves.
Loved it, perfectly captures the magic of the Grand Canyon. Production value on the video is amazing Jerry. Ask Tina what she thinks in a few months 😊. I’d love to get a spot at Phantom Ranch someday
Just check the website.....a lot. I had it for 2020 in May and it ended up being closed. Took me 2 years, but it was worth it.
Tina can check that trail off her bucket list. She is a real trooper. Now for Mexican! Cerveza frio.
100% agree that South Kaibab is more difficult going up@@dlrunner
We hiked NR to SR June 2021 but we camped over 4 nights. Our deodorant melted 😂 Such an amazing hike!! Hot as heck!!! Great job!!
Ha! In June? I bet. And thanks.
It's beautiful
My husband and I were Grand Canyon, too. But we do not have enough time to travel. We need return for work And I made some video.too! Thanks for sharing!👏👍❤️🌹
Carmen San Diego. Man you took me back to my childhood.
I've been wondering when you were going to do R2R. You can't be an Arizona Outdoors RUclips icon without it on your channel! I like your idea of cabin+steak at the bottom. We usually only stop for a bag of ice and some lemonade before heading back up the other side in the heat!
Right? About time! That lemonade is amazing. I think I had 5 or 6 cups of it.
Jerry, My husband and I watch all your videos. Living vicariously for sure! Tina: I gotta know the name & brand of your hat. Seriously, freaking love it!!!
Awesome! And her hat is "Go Kuvera". Just a generic brand on Amazon.
@@JerryArizona many thanks!
Thanks! And August must have been brutally hot. Absolutely love our Altra Olympus shoes.
@@JerryArizona Temps and cloud cover in mid-August, which is always the tail end of their monsoon season, make it the perfect time of year.
Timing is everything!
