A room is a 14x14X14 or less made up of solid outer blocks. Glass (check to see if you have any quartz chunks that you picked up if so you can make glass now), trap doors and regular doors also count as solid blocks so you could use trap doors as windows or in the floor and it would still count. You can get a simple hud mod that shows you this information or you'd need to use a debug command. Personally I do use the mod because it doesn't fundamentally change anything except very neatly give me information that is already there. It can be useful if you ever want to build a greenhouse. Either way it sounds like you are figuring it out Btw, keep the torches in the cellar if you dont want uninvited guests that show up for jam and bread, or pie. haha Things are looking great, pretty soon you will have a plaque and antlers for your walls. :D
@NectereYT So I can keep the torches in the cellar? Neat. I've been getting so creeped out walking around my own house 😅 I do have some quartz. I guess I should figure out glass making :) thank you!
@@JoePNG.Lanterns lined with silver are super bright and would be great for your home to reduce the creep factor. Lanterns can also be colored which can make for some fun lighting. Time to get blooming in the bloomery! haha
@NectereYT Okay, now you're blowing my mind haha. I pre-recorded tomorrow's episode because I'll guarantee I'll be interrupted by trick-or-treaters; and I felt so creeped out that I was hiding in the corner of my house 😅
You have everything you need to make some pies as an alternative to juicing, but either way fruit preservation is tough until you get into beekeeping. Fortunately, you have plenty of grain and veggies to keep you going through the winter. Okay, onion porridge may not be the most appetizing meal, but at least you won't starve! The good news is all those berries will make some nice compost to craft into terra preta for next year's farm, so even if they rot your efforts will not have been in vain. :)
@YouTubalcaine So a composter is a thing in this? That's pretty cool, definitely need to figure that out as well as beekeeping. I have so many onions, I'm hoping I can make them into a stew. I'd be shocked if vegetable stew was not in this. Thank you for the tips :)
@@JoePNG. All you need for composting is barrels. Once they're full of rot you seal them, then it takes about three in-game weeks to turn into compost. One barrel won't go far, but over time you can create some really nice farmland. It's humankind's oldest recycling program. The search for bees can wait until spring, and you'll have plenty of time to read up on that process over the winter. Just mark any hives you may be lucky enough to stumble across and they'll take care of themselves until you're ready. Veggie stew is indeed a thing, so soybeans and peanuts will be precious if you can ever find them, as they're the only vegetable sources of protein. You can also add berries to your meat stews and porridges, so if the fat hunting goes well that's another way to increase their longevity. It's nice to have a variety of meals prepared depending on your nutritional requirements, but even a jug of currant juice (especially fermented, lol) is more luxurious than living off cattail roots. The copper age ain't such a bad place to be, so there's no need to rush anything. Just have a good time learning new things and try not to get eaten yourself. Once you've mastered the basics of survival, everything else is gravy. :D
@@YouTubalcaine Gotcha, well I seem to be in no rush out of this age! Composting definitely seems worth it, so I'll take a note, and yeah, right now Bees don't seem all that viable at this point in the year. Thank you :)
You're not letting the fruit juice finish. As you squeeze, keep looking at the text box above the press. The number of litres keeps going up until it's done. The dry mash can be used to feed pigs in a trough. Turn the mash into juicy juicy meet. Mmmmmm.
Sorry about the info on the ingot molds, I misspoke when I said you could store those on shelves with the other items. I meant to say they could be stored in a chest or basket near the other forge equipment. Great job experimenting with the cellar mechanics. It can feel good to figure that stuff out.
@dareknelson Yeah, it was oddly satisfying figuring out the cellar, so glad I made it. I don't know what i would've done when winter hit without one. Also, no problem about the ingot molds, I really appreciate the advice, it definitely made my smelting room less cluttered. Thank you :)
Great job dealing with all the challenges of this wonderful game! I am still catching up on the series so not sure if you figured out your windows yet. Glacier ice is makeshift glass and it doesn’t melt. You can find some on top of snow covered mountains. The mountains that have snow year round.
32 berries or fruit is 10L of juice. I do not recommend squeezing less then 16 berries. I'm not sure that 16 is enough. 18 is enough. And, yes keep squeezing until its done. Handbook needs a lot of love and attention.

@theguyfromsaturn That makes so much sense, I guess I was confused because I didn't see an animation 😅 thank you :)
Bears do not go to caves to hibernate, sadly. They are a winter menace (they get covered in snow, and are hard to spot).
@theguyfromsaturn That sounds awesome, and so scary 🤣 I've been snucked up on by a Moose, a Big Horn, and hopefully NOT a bear.

@loriandavis Well lucky enough for me, I have one of those mountains near my house. Definitely will be heading there next episode :) Thank you!

Yeah, I'm struggling with the handbook! Thanks for the breakdown, though :)

@theguyfromsaturn Found this out, i pre-recorded tomorrow's video (it's Halloween, so I'll be busy), and I was told about this command. Works great!
Bro what's this? It seems to have potential.
@Yashraj_Singh_Chauhan Hm? The game? Or? Haha if so, it's Vintage Story! :)
