Super cute baby chicks! I can’t wait until I am at this point in my build. Thank you so much for the daily uploads! ❤
Oh, I know :) they're adorable! I try my best for daily uploads, but sometimes I just can't record or am too out of it (I work full time and am married, so I have to wait till I'm alone to record 😭)
rot in a barrel makes compost
You're paying attention 👀 I didn't mention it, but I'm slowly getting the ingredients for terra preta. Good eye, haha :)
The animal yard is looking good! Please don’t buy wax. Pan bony soil for candles (even if you do it off camera) or find some bees. Buying wax is a waste of gears IMO. Quenching was indeed in the last update. Been around for a while.
Seriously? Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I only tried quenching in snow 😅 so that's probably why I thought it wasn't. I'll keep on panning - I just need to find some more ruins :)
@ While you are out looking for ruins try to find some bees. They are usually in maple and oak trees. Although they can spawn in other trees as well. They have temperature and humidity requirements for spawning. Once you get your first populated skep you never have to look for wild bees again. Well unless you break all your skeps. Lol
Wi-Fi fecundation, the range is around 8 blocks
Wait, what 😅
Now you got. Me. Hooked man I checked like 5 times why haven't you unloaded.... 😅
😭 I try, haha, but I am married and work a full-time job early in the morning. Some days, I'm just too tired, or I have errands to do :( I'm going back to the navy full time in JAN, so my hours should be better, so there's that. Thank you for taking an interest, though and I'm glad you enjoy the episodes!
Heyo :) If my microphone sounds weird and muffled, it's because I was testing a new microphone out, but couldn't figure it out in time for today's video. I had to revert back to my old mic but I lost my settings - Should be fixed by tomorrow. ALSO - Sheep* not goat 😅
Hens are shifty af! I don’t trust em either Joe!
Tell me about it 😅
Now that you have a chisel in hand, if you tap glass with a chisel it will remove all of the black frame, then you can chisel and/or add material to make your own window frame. Great video. :)
Okay, now I definitely need frameless glass 😅
I think the lighting rod protects a pyramidal area, as wide on each side as it is tall.... Basically think of a Minecraft Beacon pyramid where the lightning rod is the beacon, and the pyramid below it to the ground is the protected area.
Oof. Okay, I'll move it 😅 I was trying to find something in the guide on where I should place the lightning rod. All I found was the 40 blocks up portion.
You don't have to worry about "messing up" chiseling. You can always add back material. It's not only about removing in the game. You can also add different materials.
I found that out later, it's such a neat mechanic :) I'm probably going to do a chiseling spree.
You should chisel a decorative brass pan.
Someone entered the rabbit hole of chisseling. don't get absorbed.
I saw this after I told Saturn I'll probably go on a chiseling spree 🙃
Lightning rod is in the wrong place. It protects from top to bottom. A pyramid shape of protection. Place it high above chickens.
Yeah, Saturn told me. That kind of sucks :( I'm not sure where exactly to place it now, maybe I'll build out of the hill behind the coop?
@@JoePNG. yeah just 10 blocks above chicken coop will be fine. You have a mountain right there.
@@TheSauronchik Perfect :)
In fact, due to flint being harder than granite, it is a better material.
Thank you, I definitely appreciate the tip :)
The windows are "dirty" because they are made of clear quartz. 2 things you can do to improve visibility: 1. Cut them into glass slabs with the saw... they are half as thick so they are somewhat easier to see through. 2- Use glass instead. You need to make bloomeries to melt crushed quartz to get glass. You probably can buy glass from some traders too. Of course, the nicest windows are from leaded glass, for which you need both glass and lead.
Okay, now that's interesting. I knew I needed to make a bloomery, but you just gave me the best reason to :) Thank you, definitely will make it today!
@@JoePNG. You don't need to use crushed quartz in the bloomery, by the way. Crushed quartz requires a pulverizer and that adds an unnecessary step to making glass. Standard quartz or clear quartz will work just fine. 24 pieces of quartz with 6 coal in a bloomery will get you 12 glass blocks.
@@mshambaPGrated Thanks. That's true. It's been a while since I made my early glass. I'd forgotten quartz doesn't crush with hammer and did not need crushing to go into the bloomery.
@@mshambaPGrated Thank you :) That's probably the first thing I'll do in the next episode.
I have to say, the view into your "bowl" from your home looks pretty cool.
Bowl 😅 I like that.
FYI, lightning can kill animals not under a roof. You might want to put a lightning rod somewhere close to the chicken coop.
I didn't even think of that. Thank you haha 😅
@@JoePNG. Place the lightning rod up high. Lightning rods protect a virtual pyramid underneath them. The higher they are, the more area they protect on the ground.
@@mshambaPGrated You think the top of the hill directly behind the coop will work?
@@JoePNG. That should work!
@mshambaPGrated I messed the placement of the lightning rod up in the next video 😅 dont judge haha
Since 1.20 you can use a rope to lead big animals. Can be problematic. Also since 1.20 there are wooden shingles as well. Just FYI. And your chicken coop will not work. Chickens hate going up the ladders or going down. As you have noticed their pathfinding is kinda bad. You got to have it flat~ish coop. No tight door spaces. Gradually you can increase height. And chickens need small troughs. And egg thingy for the eggs.
So what I'm hearing is - tear it all down and redo it! Sounds fine to me, I'll fix it up later today :) thanks for the advice
@@JoePNG. well, it still makes a nice finnish sauna 😉
@@sonoftarg3793 😅
Tule = Toolee or Tooly. Sod roofs are my favorite for barn type buildings, easy to make once you have a saw, but they also have a nice aged wood edge, speaking of which is another great wood. Make sure you harvest it at/in ruins when you see it, that is if you like it haha. btw You will need nests if you want the eggs to hatch, with plenty more eggs dropped outside the nests for harvesting, you could separate a few hens just for the eggs later on down the road. You could use some plain hay bales on the undersides of your thatched roofing if you wanted a less staircase look. Anyway its great seeing your progress. :) (ps you can make thatch roofing with grass hay bales) last thing, if you want details like buttons take some time to learn about chiseling
I didn't even think of chiseling. You just blew my mind. I can't believe I didn't think of that :o I'll definitely fix it up today, I was kinda told my coop wouldn't work anyhow because of the chicken's pathfinding. Thank you :)
looks nice, is this a game using Minecraft system?
Nope! This is on its own engine and its own game! The game is called Vintage Story, highly recommend giving it a shot :)
Yep, and to add onto this - The game dev made a Minecraft mod back in 2016 called Vintage Craft, but he felt limited and held back by Minecraft's engine. So he literally made his own, and his own game.
Sorry about your bad dream and jumpscare bro 😢
It's all fine :) So far, I've been jumpscared every time I hopped on after this new update haha 😅
Love your content bro, thanks for the upload!
Thank you :) oh, and we're finally past the boring base building haha
@@JoePNG. Ofc! I like the base building, most content creators dont show that in long format
@rez4958 So my thing is I'm still new to editing and all that, so for these videos it's around 3 hours worth of playing and then I have to condense it to 1. I also want to show everything that I do, so it's challenging. Thank you, I really appreciate it :)
Why did the monster sound like the beginning parts of the the sans fight? 💀
👀 Good question lmao
Light mud bricks can be helpful with your ideas. Once again, check all the things you can do with full intact blocks of granite. You may find an option that will help with coblestone availability issue. And might look better. The big ones that need mortar are great, but mortar is mortar.
@@TheSauronchik I'll have to look into it, because this wall will need an insane amount of cobblestone. Thank you:)
incase you answer this as well i think you should try have a multiplayer world on this game might be a break through for you this game and youtube -there is no multiplayer vids of this game-
Insane, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I bought my cousin a copy earlier in the month. Only issue is we work different times so it's a bit hard to coordinate it.
I'm really trying to get this came for me and my friends

when you install another version, I'm pretty sure the graphics config are not the same as your previous one, which I assume was custom. That could be the reason why you find it different. That is, if they didnt change anything in the new update concerning graphics, I'm not sure if they did
@VitorEmanuelOliver I had everything set to the maximum. I'm about to start playing in a few minutes, so I'll double check when I'm on. Thank you for that :)
They did change the saturation of the game.
@@Shiranova Something definitely seems different, so thank you :)
Bismuth bronze is not *better*. It has better durability, yes, but tools of tin bronze mine faster, and weapons do more damage. I think Bismuth bronze armor is better. Basically, tin bronze is "harder" and bismuth bronze is "tougher". They both have their uses. That is what I love about this game, how it keeps everything relevant.
Okay, that makes more sense - so they're both extremely useful in their own right :)
Yay! You found Tiny Tin. I love Tiny Tin. He's so *adorable* . He puts a *golden* colour to your copper. For that alone, he should be called *el dorado*.
The valley is looking good. Looking forward to see how the wall turns out. Temporal stability dropping based on Y level is not new to the update. You just didn’t encounter it yet. Stability also doesn’t drop based on enemy proximity. When your stability gets low enough it will trigger a temporary storm until you move to an area of higher temporal stability and you get above 15% (I think). I could be wrong on the percentage.
Okay okay, so that makes a lot more sense. I wasn't down too deep to realize it beforehand. Thank you :)
@ Welcome! I have seen some areas where there was little to no instability at y30 and others where there was a lot at y80. Just depends on the location. Key takeaway is the faster your gear spins the less time you have in that area.
@@Loerida Makes a lot of sense, because I've been much deeper with little to no gear spin.
Animals despawn below a certain light level. Place a bright light source in their enclosure, like a lantern, or a torch in a torch holder.
Smart, I'll do that first thing when I hop on :)
Dont forget about pathways - you do have a bit too many stones. Sheers help with all that stick issue. Give him a light source. And find a female. But it might be better to atract them with troughs filled with food.
Pathways, huh? Yeah I definitely need to work on that. I want to add a lot of stables, and animal keeping areas to this valley once I finally complete it. I feel like a construction worker. "Yeah, it should be done in 2 days." ONE WEEK LATER 😅
What game is this?
Vintage Story :)
Thank you. Thought it was a mod for minecraft by the sounds and blocky visual with Don’t starve sfx
@@kenpachiazazel7441 Well this game was made by an old Minecraft modder who felt extremely limited by Minecraft's engine - So he made his own .-.
Just stumbled across your channel. How long have you been playing VS? I love the game but have so much to learn!
Honestly, around a month. My entire playtime in VS has been recorded (besides the edits). I'm enjoying it a lot, so far! :)
@@JoePNG.definitely going back to watch all your progress. I have less than 10 hours in the game and my first attempt to play ended at 6minutes 6seconds when a wolf destroyed me! I have a LOT to learn.
@@tillt27 Yeah erm... I wasn't expecting the wildlife to be so hostile .-. I died to a fox 😅
I gotta say, that was a beautiful ending. It brought tears to my eyes. This may come as a surprise, but I love panning. :D Tip while panning (at least if you're panning large amounts at once, which I *may* have done once or twice), you want to make sure your off-hand is free so that if a temporal gear drops it will go there if your inventory is full instead of risking despawning by falling on the ground.
Glad to hear it :) So I'm guessing temporal gears can automatically be placed in your offhand?
I like the texture that the cobblestone gives the bottom of the walls. I too like panning, its how I get gems to sell to the traders. :)
I'm starting to see a trend 🙃 panning isn't bad, haha. I just need to sit back, watch my show, and do it while relaxing. Sounds fun :)
@@JoePNG. I find its a good way to pass the nights, especially during the winter.
Welcome to 1.20! Terraforming with COPPER tools... it honestly sounds like hell to me. Iron is okay, steel is preferable. You can check speed and durability of iron and steel tools ;) Elk should be purchased. Treasure hunter trader I think. 1.20 added a lot of stuff! You can no longer just find fire clay. Its rare and spawns only under some coal. Or just craft it. Also new fence out of sticks, that you can later turn to blocks, using dirt and clay. Packed dirt can be packed multiple times. New bricks. New clays. FUN TEMPORAL STORMS! And more.
Yeah, the last few weeks I kept reading the patch notes, and I was so interested in updating, but I was worried about corrupting my world. I kept reading about how buggy it was, but he released a new version earlier this week, which had a lot of bug fixes, so I said screw it. I enjoy it so far, and wait, I have to buy the Elk? @@DispIeasedDog Meteoric iron?! 👀 where and how haha
@@JoePNG. Meteoric iron is one tier higher than regular iron (you need an iron anvil) and can be found on the surface. Nooo! Don't chop down the whole pear tree!! Well, hopefully one will grow for you, but they're only 40% likely to - it's usually best to leave the stems and only take the branches. Good luck!
@aselrahc ☠️ Well, uh, this is awkward, haha. Thanks for the tip. Now I know for next time :)
Hey, Joe. Thanks for another great video! The plan for the valley sounds good! Love the idea of walls. You could do some custom walls with chiseling. - You can turn off temporal storms or turn on sleeping through temporal storms withe the commands below. /worldconfig temporalStorms off /worldconfig temporalStormSleeping 1 - Your pro pic searches an area with a 6 block radius (by default) which ends up being a 13x13x13 cube. The radius can be changed during world creation or via commands. Prospecting a few blocks from where you recently prospected rarely helps to locate ore. - Small amounts means there are 10-19 blocks within your pro pick radius. So if you find 1 block of ore look around that block on all sides for more. - Ores generate in flat disks. Look at the quartz as an example. The vein you were mining ius the same vein as the one you took a sample from on your way home. Sometimes those disks are not horizontal. They can be tilted slightly and in rare cases they can be vertical. They also often follow the terrain so if the surface is jagged so will the vein. - If you are going on a long mining trip either make a mining bag, bring a stack of clay, or craft walls with the stones to free up inventory space. - Although tilled soil is hydrated up to 3 blocks away, the reduced hydration also reduces growth speed. On medium fertility soil the growth speed on 50% hydrated soil is 14% slower than on 75% hydrated soil. So unless it rain very often in your area or you manually water your crops to 100% almost daily the optimal configuration for a 'set and forget' farm is a 3x3 area tilled with a water block in the center. This keeps all the crop at a minimum of 75% hydration.
@Loerida My farm is actually located in a region where rainfall is very common, so I should be good. I think? I'll have to check when I get on tonight, I'm recording late - had a small procedure done. I think I'll keep the temporal storms on, I'm planning on gearing up and actually fighting in one for loot. I need a temporal gear. Also wouldn't chiseling take a while? Is it possible to preset a chiseled block and go like that? :o
@ Chiseling does take a while for sure. There are mods that you can use to copy chiseled blocks. Specifically Workbench Expansion and Chisel Tools. If you don’t want to add mods I totally understand.
You know, when flattening an area, you may want to use cob instead of dirt. Cob will grow grass, like dirt blocks, but because you can use your scythe to gather a lot of grass fast, you can really increase your soil efficiency and have to shovel much less of it. Cob is my goto for soil-filling operations anyways.
@@theguyfromsaturn Cob? Never heard of it, I'll have to look into it :o
