If you search the handbook for "roof" you'll find additional recipes for your shingles, including inner and outer corner pieces for joining different slopes, but you've done a pretty good job with what you have. There's also a recipe to convert the stairs into slanted blocks, so if you ever wanted to replace them you won't be wasting resources. Your window design would be a good project to get into chiseling. You could bevel the corners to add some depth, or replace some of the voxels with a darker material to simulate a contrasting trim. You could also use it to fix that odd roof corner so you would still have shingles on the outside of the block but wood planks on the interior face. It's a super useful tool and the creative possibilities are endless. If you ever find yourself needing a block shape that isn't in the game you can always make it!
By the way.... there are roof shingles blocks. Like roof, not steps. But its a bit too late. This aint minecraft :) This is not a house yet. You have no solid(full of half) blocks for windows. Also the limit is 14x14x14 for a house. Just get windows first. Glass is a key word. Also quartz. House gives a warm bonus. Helpful in winter times.
So until I fix my windows and insulate the roof I'll freeze, gotcha. I'll have to barricade the windows when it gets colder out. Thank you for the advice :)
Your mountain home is very nice and has the best view, but I'm curious about the temperature on top of the mountain. You may have the coldest winter up there. You need to make sure your house is registering as a house. It usually shows up as a picture of a house in your character screen. Stairs & trapdoors are not insulators and your inside temps will be the same as the outside temps. As other people have pointed out, there are lots of different roofs you could use.
I really enjoy your fresh take on this game. I've been watching others play but yours is fresh and genuine. You didn't go into the game knowing too much and you still play it. Keep going ❤
Thank you :) I'm loving it. I'm 28 hours in and it feels like I know nothing, and made no progress haha. I'm trying to learn it as I go, and all these tips in the comments is helping me out a ton!
Love the series, but I'm still catching up to current. Your struggles are real and we have all felt them while playing this game. Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but building a cellar (info in Handbook) is essential for storing food that has significantly increased fresh times, especially over the winter when food can be scarce. This way, you won't have to worry about the food you spend all of your time gathering/hunting going bad in just a couple of days. Keep at it man!
@dareknelson You'll enjoy episode 17 :) Thank you, and in the next episode there was an issue with in-game sound, so I'm sorry about that 😅 Glad you're enjoying so far!
Oh wow, 38:38 took me a second, but that's a glitched out cattail haha 😅 Atleast I hope that's what you're talking about, because this game is already scary as is ☠️
I just noticed that I forgot to timelapse the clay harvesting, and I forgot to timelapse the oven-shaping. Sorry for the inconvenience.
To fasten up your clay work you can click on the right icon in clay menu to copy the last clay layer.

That seems kind of advanced for me, I'll definitely have to come back to that roof. I'll screenshot this, though!

Should I put blocks under the roof just in case? Also, will those weird stairs windows i have in my house affect the temperature inside?

Anyone notice to what appeared like a fish dancing fairy on the right hand side of the screen at 38:40??
