This is probably a little too late now, but as much as I want Honorable Mentions to showcase more designs, how do you think this will impact the thoughtspace of the Mazah FakeDex? This could create a strata of 'unofficial' Mazah Pokémon apart from the contest winners that could potentially make some of the contestants feel 'cheated'. Not really for the prestige of winning but the lack of cohesion in how these designs get canonized.

I respect that you care about this art a lot, but it’s unfair to expect Jack and the others working on the Mazah region dex to manage the expectations and emotions of everyone that might potentially be disappointed or difficult. I wish all submitting artists success, but we can’t anticipate unhealthy fandoms like this, it underestimates everyone while demanding more work from the original creators
The entire story behind the designs of the Burmy regional form and Pappellaude is so heartwarming. Also, Cryoger's ability is a genius idea, it protects it against the plethora of fire types that would likely OHKO it.

I really like what you said about the dex being better when multiple people work on it. This is why I love your discord and the community there. Getting feedback and ideas on my designs is so fun and makes the pokemon just way better and more interesting. It makes sure that I don’t just make pokemon for myself, but for everyone.
I think that’s what has made new generations of Pokémon feel a lot stronger overall than the older gens. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ken Sugimori and all the Pokémon he’s designed, but since other artists have started to contribute to the dex it’s become a lot varied (for the better, in my opinion).
I personally think allowing it to be fanmade allows for the games to have an element of freedom that could never be garnered if they were made officially by any big company tbh This isn’t even a diss at gamefreaks or nintendos output or anything I just think sometimes completely independent works thrive better without as much control (Not a game but stuff like the original one punch man webcomic is a good example of what i mean$
Since I saw the Pokemon of the new generation I am almost sorry to admit that you are right... There had been so many magnificent designs and those we got dont get even near that (sorry for the bad english I am no native speaker)

I really like that there's a healthy mix of Pokemon overtly inspired by Mexico in some way and Pokemon that are just neat designs-- a lot of Fakemon regions assume everything has to be a deep cut cultural or historical reference, but that misses out on a lot of really cool design possibilities! Cryoger in particular is adorable and an instant add to my hypothetical team. Plus, it makes it feel more like a real Pokemon region... like, we literally have a panda in France and an anaconda in Britain.
I’m Im not an artist, I’m an architect major, i used to draw Pokémon as a hobby in middle school, when Jack made this competition i knew very well that i was walking into new territory but I’m so overjoyed that i did it, win or lose, these winning submissions tug at my childish heart, good job everyone

As someone who is a huge fan of the Burmy evolution line, I absolutely adore that regional Burmy and its regional evolution is really awesome and I think holds up well having me loving it as much as Wormadam and Mothim and consider em just as creative as the official Burmy line already are, the artist done such a wonderful job making them

Okay can I just say how much I love FedeRex's submission, the concept of making a ghost based on an extinct or nearly extinct species, like omg it's just so good, pokemon should definitely do this more often especially if they aren't doing traditional fossil Pokemon anymore
This is part of why the dragapult line is immensely cool to me, as they’re all based on the diplocaulus, an extinct amphibian. I do hope they do more stuff like this as well

I've done a little fakemon designs myself for fun but this contest really wanted me to push my artistic skills for fakemon. 19:06 fun fact, bagworms, which is what burmy is based off, will craft coccons out of whatever is availabale. one guy placed a bunch of gold leaf and gemstones around them and they were able to even use that. i dislike bugs in real life but thats a pretty neat thing and it definetly ties into the paper craft burmy lore here
I love the azhdarchid line. All of the winners were great and I'm just happy to see my submission during one of the scrolling sections. All of the Mazah region videos always inspire me to keep working on my own fakemon. It's been a blast and a half to see this project grow.
it is REALLY nice that you didn't change up the winning pokemon all that much in your re-renderings, and improved upon the given information rather then erasing it and making your own! Alot of people tend to do that for stuff like this, and personally i think it removes alot of the charm to change up other peoples concepts. Big kudos to you for hosting this contest fairly!

If there were contests in this region I could see the trainer who focuses on contests/teaches the player about them having a Papellaude. All these designs were incredible and I especially love Cryoger's typing and ability and would definitely have it on my team.

As a trans person, Pappelaude's enby shiny makes me so incredibly happy. as a kid, burmy's evolutions always kinda bothered me, that "this was the female and they look that way, and that's the male they look this way" i should've known that my frustration was centered around my repressed neurodiversity and trans identity. but here i am, openly excited about an enby butterfly. thank you jack, and Orisghost!

My favorite is the Gulpi line! I enjoy the ocean and it’s many wonders, I love how explores the depths of the ocean and is a non water type living in the water like pincurchin (another favorite of mine!
see what I love about this region is that even though some shinies are more vibrant, all of them are obvious. Blue pants, pink fur, etc very easy to distinguish, even in bad quality
(12:12) I like how these fish Pokémon ain’t water types. Because they come from the depths, the pressure wouldn’t allow regular water types to live down there. (Hence the Ghost typing.)

Specterzal; being the last stage of a 2 stages line, legendary-like status and overall similarity to volcarona feels like they should be encountered in a similar manner: A overworld sprite, encountered in a particular place, close to the endgame.

I joined for the contest and was keeping tabs on the discord a bit and still missed all of these designs! They're all fantastic and I can't wait to see the other ones! I'm very glad a bug type made it into the new pokemon too I love them and submitted one (inspired a little by burmy even) myself!

Honestly, this video just made me wish I tried harder to come up with more Pokemon designs for the challenge. Omg Cosmet’s design is so creative. Ice/Steel is a hard type to make in a creative way. And it’s a fun lil guy
I joined for the contest and was keeping tabs on the discord a bit and still missed all of these designs! They're all fantastic and I can't wait to see the other ones! I'm very glad a bug type made it into the new pokemon too I love them and submitted one (inspired a little by burmy even) myself!
A lot of unique concepts, glad we have more fish Pokemon in Mazah. Guessing we're getting a lot of Mega Evolutions next video.
