    I create handmade, high quality wood pieces (and sometimes, crafts using other mediums such as natural stone or acrylic) that connect to people on an emotional level. Each piece is meticulously designed to look and feel like an art piece. I have always adored art, and have an underlining mission to incorporate my knowledge and skills into wood turning. With my videos, I hope to inspire and encourage others while promoting wood turning, experimentation, and safety. Please stay safe at all times!

    Thanks for this. Our club brought in a guest turner a few weeks ago (Jimmy Clewes) who taught us some coloring techniques using dyes. Your video show another method using other coloring materials for those of us who have markers and ink, but haven't yet pulled the trigger on a set of color dyes. Timely indeed. - Rick

    I'm in the middle of doing a lot of dye work. I found the best green dye you could ever want. It came out of a 1 dollar bingo dauber. I'm going to go to a bingo hall and buy some different colors to see if they work just as well. The liquid does evaporate quick and has an alcohol smell to it. They only cost a dollar try it out. You will be amazed!

    How did you keep the India ink from bleeding through to the front of the plate?

    • @spwoodart
      @spwoodart  2 месяца назад

      The plate was fairly thick and the hard maple wood is great for ink. The fibers on the maple contain the ink well. Some other woods will bleed more than others. I usually use a tight grained wood when using ink for that very reason. Thanks for watching!

    For those trying this, if you get Indian ink on your hands. Don't worry, let it dry, and when your done, go have a shower, and shampoo your hair, the hair gets into your lines, and the shampoo will clean almost all the ink off

    Great video as always! I always wonder if I can use a lacquer on a friction polish? I was afraid that it won't stick because of linseed oil. Have you got any issues with that?

      Hi, thank you sir. You should have no issues with fiction polish as an under coat. Just make sure it's nice and dry first. The only thing you'd have to watch out for is wax. Make sure the fiction polish is wax free. If there is wax in the under cost and say the bowl is in the sun, the finish will melt off. Hope that helps. Cheers my friend.
