  • Creating 3D urban or architectural environments for visualisation purposes has never been easier. With just an average aerial video and using gaussian splat technology you create photorealistic environments. These not only can be viewed interactively on the web but be brought into games engines as lightweight models which can be cropped and lit.

Thanks for sharing this! I have a quick question, is there a maximum size of Gaussian Splatting we could import using this plugin?

Gaussian splat files are quite light weight so i have managed to load in 10 different Gaussian splat files in unreal without any problem. I would assume that they would be able to render large scenes as well but I usually crop them because of the distortion you get on the outer edges.

    Hi dude,
Thank you for your video 😊
Tell me, can you get drop shadows with spot lights? On my side, there is none at all
Is there a particular setting that needs to be enabled or adjusted to get them?
Thank you for your help 😁

I found to get the lights affecting the splat, i needed to turn up the intensity extremely high and move the spot light very close up. It will also depend on the scene exposure you have set up.

Hello, thanks for the information, I have a question, how do I install the Luma AI plugin in Unreal Engine?

When you download that sample scene the plugin is already installed so you don't need to do anything. If you want to use it in a different project copy the Plugins/LumaAI_YYYY_MM_DD_V.V folder from the sample starter project into your new project of choice

Thanks for the run through - but every time I drag and drop ply files into the content browser UE 5.3.2 crashes. Any suggestions or links as how I might resolve? On Mac OS Monterey 12.7.3

In the marketplace there is not a luma AI plugin which you can install directly and activate in the plugins. This plugin should work better now

You can test out your own 3D gaussian splats by bringing them into this sample unreal scene: lumaai.notion.site/Luma-Unreal-Engine-Plugin-0-4-8005919d93444c008982346185e933a1

When I add the post-processing volume, it hides the Gaussian splat. I have already checked the 'extent infinite' option. Is there something that I'm missing here? Thanks!

Maybe either lighting values too strong or the Gaussian splat needs to be rotated to be viewed properly. check all the exposure values in the post-processing are not too high if using manual override.
