Something a bit more sedate for today as I start adding content to the channel. Taking the same basic story from the original and changing it up seems like its worked on everspace 2. The 5 point inspection videos are a breakdown of 5 things I like or enjoy in games coming up or out. www.patreon.com/AngryCentaurGaming
Man, I’ve been watching your vids for a while now, mostly because I enjoy the way you write. But I am also damned impressed how you can fit more content in less than 5 minutes than most other reviewers do at least twice as much time.
I'm more than surprised that they continued the clone plot from the first and keep the ground running from there in the sequel. Plus the voice acting is just as good and so is the combat. The puzzles are another surprised; there's no hand holding. So far, I came across a few wrecks and they provide some clues for me to figure on my own without some text going off like that Zelda fairy screaming "Hey, listen!" non-stop.
This looks brilliant, didn't play the first but will give this a shot once it's out of early access (decided I'd not buy them anymore due to my growing backlog lol). Great video as always ACG and I always look forward to your new uploads! ❤️
Good early access games are always tricky for me.. Do I buy now and play now or wait till it's potentially better? I may not want to come back to it once more content added. Does look to have a good atmosphere though and be a good chill game.
I really have to play the first game. Been on my pc for a while now. Makes me want to dive in. Find myself wanting to jump from game to game lately tho. Thanks for the preview!!!!
Going off topic a bit, but have you tried Project Wingman? It is a very well made Ace Combat style indie game with full VR support for all game modes, I really enjoyed playing it and the music is quite good too.
Man, long time watcher. Your stuff's great. I played and loved both Technomancer and Vampyr off your opinion. You should do Werewolf the Apocalypse! I'm really on the fence on that one. Love your stuff!
Ever since I played freelancer back in the day I was looking for something similar, that has the same vibe and feel to it. Is everspace 2 comparable or does it differ a lot in what it aims to be?
I have no idea how you manage to always keep vids so informative, yet also in a relatively small amount of time. Some people have a -lot- to learn from your content. Much love as ever, this was a certain purchase for me but your vid is now my go to for when people ask me what I'm playing.
B-but Karak, do I subscribe if I neither liked nor didn't like the video? Do I have to subscribe if I'm already subscribed? Please give us an answer, I cannot be left with this responsibility of deciding of my own. Anyways, I liked the rhymes at the start and was kinda hoping for the whole video to be full of rhymes. :P
Definitely shares similarities and takes inspiration, but the game isn’t a freelancer 2.0 nor is it trying to be. If you enjoyed freelancer, then you’ll most likely enjoy this.
Well, we wanted to have a few variations of not too complicated puzzles in Early Access to test the waters. Apart from a few die-hard space sim fans, most pilots seem to love them and want more, so we'll take puzzle-solving a bit further without going too crazy. Anyone who's not a fan can just ignore them as they are all optional. On a personal note, I love the puzzles because they add to the exploration aspect of our game. I always found the puzzles the best part of the Uncharted and Tomb Raider series, right next to playing through the story campaign :) /Michael
I'd say gameplay is generally similar in style. Story is told in animated concept art videos, not 3D but "work in progress". Music and atmosphere are very different, there are no hyperspace gates, you just point and fly. Idk about companions yet. The focus is clearly more on gameplay and rpg elements, i wouldn't expect Freelancer level storytelling... but i'm only an hour or two in yet.
I'll wait with buying this until i see the variety of ships we can fly, and if there's even a reason to buy and upgrade ships. Everspace 1, there simply wasn't any point buying a new ship because you could easily beat the game with the starting ship, and that took away any reason to play for me.
Okay first off, the interceptor in ES1 was not a starter ship in the sense that it becomes outdated later on. It’s one of the four classes (five with the dlc) of ships. You can either upgrade that specific ship, or choose another class and focus on upgrading that instead. And secondly, with the second game moving away from a rogue lite to an open world rpg, upgrading your ship will become essential to face enemies as they get tougher.
And if it was Star Citizen it would have swallowed $350 MILLION of backer money, the best part of a decade of development time and still be an unplayable glitchy mess haha! Star Citizen, by far the biggest joke in gaming!
Well there’s A LOT of new things added in ES2. And besides there’ll be procedurally generated events. Also the end game content will be a mini-rogue lite.
bought both hitman 3 and this ! Well now I can't chose which one I wanna play more :S classic rookie mistake...didn't expect everspace 2 to be this good !
@@kuhpunkt because in-development / early-access titles are supposed to be about rewarding early adopters for supporting you, not charging you essentially MSRP and claiming the perk is "you get to play early and provide feedback". It's a disturbing trend exemplified recently by studios like Larian via Baldur's Gate 3. You're paying for the privilege of being a beta tester, something companies used to actually pay QA employees for, or at least offered to the public for free in order to get testing data back from their systems
Such a shame the puzzles and boss fights are so absurdly out of place in a space RPG. Hurling a drone at a boss to remove its' shield when your weapons destroy everything else? COME ON, this is just Ubisoft-esque dull design.

Nice series base and format
Aaaaawww, man! What a great (p)review. You perfectly captured the evolution of the game, and where it stands right now. Thx, @ACG! /Michael
Yeah like the short n sweet 5 points on something like this/early access. Very interested in the game but still gonna wait on it. Maybe...
Played like 3 hours, it is already release quality polished and smooth. Just need more content obviusly. Hella fun and better than first game.
I personally felt that the first one was lacking a bit but this one seems far more polished
Played 3 hours needs more content? Huh lol
I love when a game i want comes out without me even knowing about it. Buying this one today.
shoot i didnt even know I wanted it but im sure interested in it now 👍
"Karak here from AYYY CEEEEE GEEEEEEE"

And that's without the sponsor bullshit.
Been playing this nonstop for over 4 hours really hope there is more features to come with this game its beautiful
Glad you put this out, I've been weighing whether I want to pick this up or not
This game is fantastic. Light rpg mechanics, smooth gameplay, great graphics.
But how is the look of outerspace? Does it look anywhere near as amazing as it does in real life?
@@ANewEvilRising You can see that proven in the gameplay footage :)
@@curbyour____9506 i was hoping something better might be seen elsewhere. How disappointing

Great vid. I feel there is a shortage of really condensed EA reviews like this. Looking forward for more.
Really excited for this. I miss a good space 'sim' like starlancer and colony wars.
Thanks for covering this! I'm definitely going to buy this today!
Loved the first one. Looking forward to this. Amazing graphics, great combat. Glad to see a better story.

Nice vid ACG !!
Will @ACG review the 1.0 coming out in a day? Curious?
Loved the first one. Got better the longer it went on. Cant wait till its on console.
I really appreciate this style of video! Short and sweet! Yours and other similar reviewers I model my channel after!
Definitely gonna pick this one up. Almost reminds me of a modern day Descent.
I really like this kind of video man. This game looks super cool, would be very interested in a walking the walk in the future.
Holy crap how much longer till full release?!!!!!!!!
Is this for pc only? I like space shooters but am a console peasant
I loved the first one and this looks like the kinda upgrade it deserves. Awesome 👍🏼
I remember the first one had really good music, is it the same deal for the 2nd one?
Good early access games are always tricky for me.. Do I buy now and play now or wait till it's potentially better? I may not want to come back to it once more content added.
Does look to have a good atmosphere though and be a good chill game.
I feel some of the quest types like the picking up of energy orbs a little non-immersive but other than that its fantastic.
lets pick
Starlink vs Everspace/Everspace 2 vs Chorus
???
Helloooo new content format. How you doin
I'm loving the game so far, it's a nice game to boot up and unwind after work.
How’s controller support? Pretty solid?
Hey ACG, do you play all the games you review, or do you have a team and you voice some? Your reviews are so good I can't tell haha.
I really have to play the first game. Been on my pc for a while now. Makes me want to dive in. Find myself wanting to jump from game to game lately tho. Thanks for the preview!!!!
Karak do you own a Carrack on Star Citizen?
Going off topic a bit, but have you tried Project Wingman? It is a very well made Ace Combat style indie game with full VR support for all game modes, I really enjoyed playing it and the music is quite good too.
Just one problem. No scanner in the game yet.
Man, long time watcher. Your stuff's great. I played and loved both Technomancer and Vampyr off your opinion. You should do Werewolf the Apocalypse! I'm really on the fence on that one. Love your stuff!
there are no explosions in space. instead they could make some kind of hitmarker or something so you know when you killed another spaceship
Lmfao what? Are you also going to complain about something like Star Wars having lightsabers? News flash, games don’t always have to simulate reality.
mobile game devs making good full sized games while AAA devs try to make full sized games into mobile games
Looks fun, can you use a HOTAS?
Yeah there are some preset configs for some of the mainstream thrustmaster models like X or 4, but the bindings are fully customisable too!
@@DustyDefib that sounds cool
Oh man. I'm. A few hours in and just itching to find all the broken synergies the game has to offer. Space Murder-Hornet Simulator, here i come!
The explosions are 9/10 visually.
Played for about 6 hours. FANTASTIC game already more polished that half the games we get at full release.
Thanks, I will be checking this out. :)
Pretty upset this isn’t on Xbox game preview but will buy when it comes out.
Ever since I played freelancer back in the day I was looking for something similar, that has the same vibe and feel to it. Is everspace 2 comparable or does it differ a lot in what it aims to be?
Omg same! Freespace is the yard stick by which all space sims should be measured!
This is the game Ive been waiting for for years!!
Damn this looks fun!
Nice video format. Maybe some heftier transitions (even just a hard cut) would help emphasize each of the 5 points. Felt a bit rushed along
Love the look of this game. From the explosions to the planets and skybox. I just had to support the game.
Excellent video!! I had many of the same thoughts in my own review! Fantastic game, especially being in early access.
The original is one game that is always on my Xbox hard drive :) Looking forward to number 2!!
Is the keyboard rebindable? Can I change the controls to work for left-handed?
Yes, keyboard is remappable for the most part.
@@VeritasCalivmeir thanks

Not my genre but I'm intrigued. This looks amazing.
Hello random internet stranger I hope you have a good day :)
Bought and played it for 2 hours last night and the game is fun as hell
I really enjoyed the first one so yeah, hopefully this is as good as it sounds.
It is like Freelancer? That's all I want to know.
Definitely shares similarities and takes inspiration, but the game isn’t a freelancer 2.0 nor is it trying to be. If you enjoyed freelancer, then you’ll most likely enjoy this.
Aay I fucking love space.
My body is ready
I bought the game after watching this video.
I’m not a fan of the puzzles it throws at you. Breath of The Wild has a lot to answer for.

This looks like i might actually enjoy it. Really didnt enjoy the first one at all, which was a big surprise to me. Thanks for the informative vid!
ES1 is still a great game that hasn't aged visually if you don't mind the rogue-lite mechanics.
hmm looks like its worth a look
Its games like this that make me wish I ran a PC instead of console.
Wait, a clone wanting to know his origins, wasn't that the EXACT same plot of the first game?
Yes its almost identical. Sorry it was a bit of a joke.
@@ACGreviews Well that's one joke that flew over my head
Wouldn't it be amazing if the Clone gets to fight the Original
Ashuraman I’d say this one is more about him finding out what it means to be human
@@HazzyDevil Interesting, so there is a nuanced difference
Thanks!
Meanwhile, in a distant galaxy 12 years and $349 millions in...
Absolutely agree, it is a fantastic game even though. Cannot wait for it to be finished.
Karak, you're the best dude - good video
Gorgeous game!
Great review tho!
It’s a brilliant game, thoroughly recommended!
No VR though...
Is it as good as Freelancer? Damn, I miss that game.

Controls pretty hopeless at the moment. Presumably will improve.
Finally the kind of arcade space shooter I've been looking for since Freelancer.
Looks somewhat okay?

Spiritual successor to Freelancer. Gonna get in on PS5 when it releases on consoles
@Fishy Vagina I'm waiting for the full release as I want to get it for PS5. You should reserve judgement for the final product as will I
Greetings from Parallel
This is what that star wars squadrons trash should have been!
no linux version.. oh well I'll play it later
Am I the only one screaming out for a House of the Dying Sun sequel?
Nope. That game was awesome. Right up there with Everspace as my favorite space action game.
