It's only possible to win because with the auto-combat you kill enemies really fast, then run away from all those missiles, then wait and kill the rest really fast. Thats really bad combat. And the game is bad in sooo many other regards. Sending you back and forth through 5-8 jumpgates again and again and again for every mission without anything happening on the way is justtedious. The advancement system is stupid because you basically have to have the best ship with the best equipment before you can even start the story. Looks like a fun arcade space sim. I would really love if devs would put more space races in their serious shooty space sims to have some nice alternative game modes. I player Star Conflict for a long time (it is a MMO arcade space sim with great control and a ton of ships). The game has a lot of game modes like pve, pvp arenas, huge spaceship bosses, open space exploration, etc. I was in a large corporation (clan) that organized a race on a particular planetary map that had mountains and a ruined planetary base and we made a race course through the ruins and around mountains. It was very well organized, we had to use the same ship (Hawk interceptor) but we could kit it with any modules we wanted. Of course everyone went with engine mods and maneuverability mods, anything that would give you more speed. We had 4-5 guards keeping the npc enemies away from the race course (the only way to get 30+ people on a map was to do it in the open space mode where there are enemy AI patrols spawning in regularly). The race course was a big O around the zone, but it had several vertical changes, a couple tight valleys between mountains and a section with a ruined train tunnel that was only a bit wider than the interceptor. You had to take the tunnel too otherwise you would get disqualified. It was such a high piloting skill check because the interceptor would go at about 800 kph on full burn. Many people crashed in the tunnel or the mountains. I think that race event made by us was the most fun i have had in a MMO ever. It went all day and we would race 2 at a time in a 2/3 round mode. There were about 20 racers. I will never forget it :)

he's always forgetting his "bullshit" are game design choices that a LOT of people are happy about (check steam reviews, and the success it has overall). "It's supposed to be" lmao dude's pretending like he's part of the dev team and knows exactly what the game's "supposed to be"
Thanks for pointing out the hard coded key binding. I’ve been a touch typist since the 80’s, so WASD has always been a nonstarter for me. It royally pisses me off when devs hard code anything in their games. This takes the game from “excited to buy” to “not gonna bother until they fix it”. Great vid as always!
"left strafe a right strafe, trust forward trust back, roll left roll right" Wow wow! Mac! you forgot the most important movment ability in this game that most space flight shooters dont have, with CTRL and SPACE BAR you go straight up or straight down, this adds so much to combat, as every dogfight does not end up with your chasing the other guys trail forever and ever.

As someone who grew up playing the Descent games on PC, I can’t help but wonder if that’s where the inspiration for all the puzzle/maze content comes from? I’m personally looking forward to those areas in this game assuming they are well designed. Agree that the racing feels super jarring and immersion-breaking.
I take massive issue with this pay 2 review marketing. [IF that's what this is?] You guys need to buy game now in order 2 get all these exp boosts. Hold up bro. Stop right there. This is single player game. Any time a single player game offers "anything" on a limited time basis i can't help but mock them. Their this thing called trainers or cheat engine. The fact their baiting me to buy their game now before its even fully done to get exp boosts is bullshit. I not only bit torrent this game out of contempt, but will cheat my ass off to get same "boosts" their giving away to early access bs buyers. I have pure contempt for company's that do this kind of stuff.

Everspace 2, an open world, open space, space shooter and space looter in space where you explore the space in space P.s. this totally isn't No Man's Sky
The game isn’t trying to be realistic... Are you also going to complain that there’s sounds? Are you the type that also complains about Star Wars and all the things it does that doesn’t follow realism?
Appreciate the review on this one. I was sorely tempted but given the immersion breaking rubbish, the fact that a scanner/radar was overlooked and the price I think I'll wait for the eventual price reductions. Admittedly it might be a while before those reductions come but sooner or later they always do. I was hoping for something comparable to freelancer but it appears as though it's a case of."close but no cigar".
You don't need a radar, if there are enemies in the area it shows on the edge of the screen, just recnter screen and the enemies are in front of you. Same thing with loot and crates, just wiht them they don't appear until you get close to them. It is this way to encourage exploration for hidden loot. I feel this is the best space game out in ages. I played a lot o Freelancer back in the day, will be playing a lot of this as well.
Disagree totally, you totally need a scanner as you literally have no idea which group of enemies are closest unless you physically turn to face each group and check their distance. Also as you fly around you again have no idea if any npc's are heading for you. Even worse it's a total pain in the arse having to watch the edges of your screen all the time to see if any loot has dropped or being missed. A scanner is designed to sort these issues out with a simple glance, this game desperately needs a scanner.
@@juggernautxx having a scanner/radar is incredibly important for both immersion and as a core feature. While there maybe markers around the screen essentially saying "target in this direction" that fails to communicate useful information. It's akin to someone saying "enemy over there" with no further information, it simply doesn't help.

I always hate when reviewers pretend like a game has "problems" because it doesn't cater to that very tiny specific set of features they absolutely want. "It's supposed to be" lmao dude's pretending like he's part of the dev team and knows exactly what the game's "supposed to be"
Are you doing a hitman 3 video? Wanna know what you think about it
Thanks for pointing out the hard coded key binding. I’ve been a touch typist since the 80’s, so WASD has always been a nonstarter for me. It royally pisses me off when devs hard code anything in their games. This takes the game from “excited to buy” to “not gonna bother until they fix it”. Great vid as always!
None of the key bindings are hardcoded. Pretty much all of the controls can be changed.
Mining And Grinding, Mining And Grinding
Thanks for mentioning NO SCANNER. It hasn't effected much for me but still a MUST have tool.
Explosions in space. Yes! Please more of that.
I read up that there was meant to be over 100 ships to pick from.
Yet you’re saying only 5.
So which is true?
The mining and grinding mention made me smile lol. Nod to No Man's Sky obviously, which I know you enjoyed tremendously.
I loved Everspace in VR it's kind of disappointing to see the sequel not having support.
Freelancer was the best, my childhood haha
been looking for game like freelancer for years! I think this might be the closest thing
The Devs should see this because there are barely any propper reviews out there. 👍
Sweet. Looks like a bit like Freelancer back then. I might check out Everspace 1 aswell.
Have you heard of Underspace? Now that is like Freelancer.
@Fishy Vagina Of course, it isn't. Underspace will actually be Freelancer successor.
i spat out my noodles and chocked at 0:18 lmao
"left strafe a right strafe, trust forward trust back, roll left roll right"
Wow wow! Mac! you forgot the most important movment ability in this game that most space flight shooters dont have, with CTRL and SPACE BAR you go straight up or straight down, this adds so much to combat, as every dogfight does not end up with your chasing the other guys trail forever and ever.
I had no issue rebinding any keys and succesfully use "F" as my strafe right.
Hey Mack. Hotas??
Looking forward for this can't be any worse than the Grind in elite dangerous.
Mack, I still have no idea why you made all the videos on Mackcorner private.. But I miss watching those videos. I guess there is no chance they will ever be public again but why did you make them private?
Mack would you say a Freelancer for the 2020's ? if so i am in
Is it the freelancer 2 I am waiting for?
Mini games (might as well add QTE to ruin it more) and lack of radar is too much. Hopefully they fix it/add to it to make it worth it. Good review.
Thank goodness for your reviews Mack, and really hope the guys at ROCKFISH see this.
Be interested to hear your thoughts on X4 foundations if you haven’t reviewed it already!
Wanna know why I love this channel....cuz the host is as close to real as it gets for youtubes game reviews makes me laugh out loud and he showed me satisfactory and did I mention iam a patron...for a reason....ur the best youtuber mac ur not allowed to ever....ever.....everrrr quit🤪
As someone who grew up playing the Descent games on PC, I can’t help but wonder if that’s where the inspiration for all the puzzle/maze content comes from? I’m personally looking forward to those areas in this game assuming they are well designed. Agree that the racing feels super jarring and immersion-breaking.
Just what I needed, keep up the amazing work Mack, your vids give me life
Tbh I like some of the puzzle elements, they keep it from being too much like the competition
cant wait for your review :)
I take massive issue with this pay 2 review marketing. [IF that's what this is?]
You guys need to buy game now in order 2 get all these exp boosts.
Was wondering why I was impressed by all explosions and then it hit me: HOW THE FUCK DO YOU GET FIERY EXPLOSIONS IN THE VACUUM OF SPACE???
Im excited just purchased an as far as story goes not really worried most early access games have lacking stories...im ready for the exploration throughout space in 4k
The planet and menus gave me a No Man's Sky vibe.
During the first part of the review I was scared that this will be another game, I'll buy and not have time for anything else. In the end I had a sigh of relief. Thanks Mac! For having the time to play and review all that crap and being on the same age boat like meself :)
I really shouldn't be liking videos before i watch them....ain't no integrity over here...smh..keep those videos coming bro💪🏾💪🏾💯💯
Me too... but we knew we'd like it though eh?
@@stevesonyoutube What did you like best? the part where he says it's okay that it's an arcade space shooter game, or the part where he then goes on a tantrum about immersion breaking puzzles and races?
Is it a No Man's Sky mod?
Grabbed this as I always loved Freelancer. Suffer horrible motion sickness though, gonna try some different settings but I'm not hopeful
Yes it is!
Hey mac, tried to ask you in a live stream of dead space but obviously you were busy so didn't see it. You did mention the BOC in Birtley tho haha. I live there now, it's a housing estate by Avant homes.
Anyway way, did u ever review star citizen? I remember one of your vids you said you were going to but can't see it unless I've missed it? I've just got it and would love to hear your take on it. Honestly think you'd fall in love with it. I get the impression that your not a fan, maybe Coz it rivaled your baby ED lol. Ignore that and go in fresh, am sure it's something you will love
Hey Mac , been watching you for years now. Love the channel. Just wondering, how come you're reviewing more early acces 'recently' ? Nothing being released these days ? Greetings , from Belgium
I think the developers might have confused "arcade:y flight controls = arcade:y missions".
That UI gave me serious No Mans Sky vibes
When that crafting screen came up I had to do a double take
I wish Freespace 1 & 2 would get a remastering.
I’m with you there!
"hotas" that acronym has to be intentional
Everspace 2, an open world, open space, space shooter and space looter in space where you explore the space in space
P.s. this totally isn't No Man's Sky
projectile weapons in space make no sense at all, how exactly do the bullets combust....
Projectile weapons are no problem in space. Either they can contain their own oxygen source, or could be a railgun of some sort.
Always a great day when Mack posts a video! Was wondering if this game was decent, glad to hear it's turning out quite well.
