As LevelCap bluntly says. I was an avid user of Track IR but moved on to the Tobii Eye Tracker a while ago and it's simply superior. Please implement support for the Tobii into the game @GeekByte.
Hey LevelCap, if you see this or anyone else playing or buying this game, hidden in keymapping you can map a button that lets you turn ON/OFF "Inertia Dampeners." It lets you turn of the automatic breaking as you stop the engines/turbo, so you can fly at high speeds and turn the ship 360 degrees in all directions and stil keep going the original path, allowing you to do "drive by shooting" basicly
Great tip! We don’t bind it by default as we think of it as a more advanced control method and don’t want new players to accidentally activate it, but it’s definitely something the more discerning pilot can utilise.
@@GeekByte yes but why does it have to be "hidden" in the keymapping area, maybe add it as a checkbox in the gameplay options or something, make it more visable where its alot higher chance that players stumble upon it
@@magnusberge Couple of reasons around this tbh. One I've already mentioned, as we have had players accidentally turn off inertia dampeners, who then don't realise what they've done and have had a baptism of fire when it comes to controlling the ship which, especially in a new player experience, can be massively off putting and we want new players to have a great experience. Secondly, is key binding space. Inertia Dampeners was originally a PC only feature, but since we added Console controller rebinding in with our UE5 upgrade, we felt it's best left to the player, on either format, to decide which key or button they'd like to bind this feature to, especially as there's limited space on controllers, even when using modifier buttons. We could have placed a toggle button in the menu, but with the above reasons we felt it best, from a player experience and technical viewpoint, not have it so accessible as it does cause issues which we try to avoid.
Hoooooly cow, thanks for that comment. That was literally the ONLY thing that's always kept me from getting the game. I can't enjoy dogfighting without my decoupled mode :D
This game is basically the spiritual successor of the famous mobile space shooter back in 2000s, Galaxy on Fire. If you have played it then you feel right at home with Everspace 2. I have been following the development of this game for years, and seeing Levelcap covering it was a pleasant surprise :)
@@GeekByte It's a little unfortunate that the GoF series is practically discontinued after GoF2. I consider it the only space game on the mobile platform with triple A quality. And I first found and played the hidden gem on a Nokia N96 when I was a kid and it completely blew my mind! I did not know games with this level of quality and depth can exist and be played on a cellphone. Anyway, huge fan of your works and wish everspace 2 will gain even more popularity!
The price is definitely worth it. Over 80 hours of game time and I'm still not finished with it yet. In my opinion, if you're a space game fan, this is the game you've been looking for all your life. It nails right so many concepts, like exploration and ship customization (basically a Need for Speed Underground 2 Space Edition). The best part though is the excellent fast paced combat. Most enjoyable dogfighting I've ever had in a game , and I'm an Ace Combat player (Ace Combat still thrives in 1v1 dogfighting though). The fact that some agile "classes" can get into the fray while surrounded by dozens of enemies and still stand a chance based on your skill and equipment choice is such a powertrip. And like the reviewer said, the footage on the review doesn't show what the end-game dogfighting truly looks like. If you stay still shooting like that on end-game content you die in seconds. Great review for a great game. Hoping that with this review they manage to sell even more, leading to more expansions (A DLC is already in the making).
I bought the game way back during its early access days, and I have zero regrets for doing so. It runs delightfully well, and controls beautifully. Heck, I'm just playing it with a mouse and keyboard and I've had zero issues with having fun with it. Well worth the purchase.
My favorite thing about this game is you can tune the combat to be fun with a proper flight stick. Turn off aim assist but then also set enemy health really low, so sniping is super effective but as soon as we're dogfighting I actually have to make use of missiles and dedicated close range guns with spread now have a functional purpose.
My favorite thing about this game is that you really into account that your in space and that you can just as easy stand stil or strafe in combat as you can fly at high speeds, the ability to just go straight up or straight down opens up a heap of new combat manouvers
be sure to give "DeltaV:rings of saturn" a try if you want some immersive space mining experience and try out "Underspace" if you want a game that's like 2001's Freelancer but with space magic
@@JohnClarkW i bought them part of the humble bundle, Ukraine aid bundle. Also if you like those two perhaps you'll enjoy cosmoteer and FTL(which is currently on sale for only 2.59€)
Its devs are pretty cool and very passionate about their game, loved their informative talks about their game on their youtube channel, you really get the impression they care about their game and their players.
It's arcade-y in a good way. I just liked going with a Bomber especially once you unlock the nuke torpedo. Yes, you can blow yourself up if you fire it at something too close, but it's also slow and has trouble turning so you generally don't want to aim at little stuff charging at you anyways.
This is the first game in 15 years that's hooked me to 100% the locations and the non infinite challenge mode stuff. Get the demo, you can continue your save after you finish the whole of act 1. Oh and despite the warnings I'd say most people are going to have a better time with mouse and keyboard, the controls are superb.
As a backer for this game and its original, I'm happy to say that it was a joy to play and looked gorgeous at the same time. Glad you found it fun too and are spreading the word about it!
I had this game for over a year but never played it because my preference was games I could use my hotas with like Elite or SC. It was only after being frustrated with those other games that I decided to give Everspace 2 another try and realized I could fly within cockpit with my Hotas using 6 degrees of freedom and newtonial flight with inertia off. For a studio of 20 people Rockfish have done a fantastic job. I cannot put this game down. Anyone who loves fast paced space shooters should definitely give this a try. Everspace does not try to do everything but what it does do it does well. Hopefully the developers do look at tobii eye tracker support because that would be the icing on the cake.
It was great seeing the game grow during early access. I've been on other things since they went 1.0, but they also didn't stop adding content when they got there, so when I finally go back it'll almost be like playing a new game.
100% , Awesome review. There is also some Descent vibes , yup , about movements and controls in the old game. Trippy and fun. Peeling through the first one. They both run very well on 7840HS chips w/64GB RAM..
This game isn't some groundbreaking innovative next-gen title, but what it does have is quality. It's just a *solid* title that I keep coming back to months & months later. Absolutely worth the full price of admission, it's clearly a labor of love and it's absolutely beautiful graphically too. Very impressive for an indie studio.
75 hours played and working on 100% locations before carrying on thr main story. Recommended it to a few guys at work. Stories decent and graphics in UE are great.
This was confusing for me because I used this exact same thumbnail shot for my Top 5 of 2023 video. Obviously, Everspace 2 was one of my Top 5 games from last year. It's really good. It's more incredible when you consider how far they came from the first game - which was good in its own right.
There are loads of ships to buy till Tier 4, lots of weapon variety, ship customization where you can even change engine exhaust colors, and the combat is really great. Thoroughly enjoyed this game. Honestly enjoyed it more than Diablo 4 for some reason.
You sold me on this with the 6DoF stuff. The fact that I can use my dual stick + pedals is a HUGE deal for me. I can then play another space game with the same movement setup as I have in Star Citizen.
Also, if you're looking for space games one might unjustly miss, I suggest taking a look at Chorus. They added their own spin on creating fast-paced, entertaining dogfights, which I liked a lot. And while the studio here is indeed known for both Everspace games, the people responsible also did the Galaxy on Fire series with their previous studio - which after their departure would develop said Chorus. :)
Great video. this one convinced me to pick it up. I'd been holding off for all the same reasons you had mentioned. That plus the first one being a roguelike made me think this one would be similar and I'm not super big into that genre. Additionally, this video made me realize something that drives me crazy about Star Citizen. Star Citizen is so friggen DARK. when you're flying around Yela, you gotta use your ping all the time to even SEE all the asteroids in the belt if the sun isn't directly on your side. When you're looking around for objects in space, it's always against a pitch black backdrop. This game goes for a bit less realism and lightens up the backdrop of space with a lighter blue with some color and then adds beautiful nebulas and gas clouds as a backdrop so you can actually SEEEEE everything. That plus the fact that things are lit from all direction, not just the side catching the direct sunlight. I know it's unrealistic, but damn if it doesn't like 3000% more playable.
It not easy to create those cut scenes. But it depend on the vision and ideas for player wanted to experience. You know how they try not get influence by players but they work sandbox mind that is to create their own world to explore.
absolutely loved it, I played it on gamepass and it's one of my favorite space games easily (up there with elite and freelancer) I was already super into it half way through when a strange and essential part of the game (rogue comet!) gets introduced.... and it is basically my name... not a common name in the US or Germany where the game was made, but it was very hilarious hearing all the characters being super dramatic about... ME!
@@GeekByte well now I'm curious where that name came from! I put 140 hours into your game and regret none of it! also, from someone who has done FX and env art, I absolutely loved the inventiveness and gorgeous environments your artists and designers created, cant wait for what you guys put out next!
I played the first one and really enjoyed it, liked the gameplay loop of jumping to a sector, plundering enough stuff to keep going, and maybe pushing your luck before the bad guys catch up to you, then jumping to the next. Got a glitch that ended my run on the last wave of the final boss and after that I didn't want to keep playing, but I've been keeping an eye on the sequel for when it goes on sale.
I totally feel the about being on a space game kick comment lol. I also just started playing this a few days ago!! "Free" on Game Pass and so worth trying!
ive been eying this game for years, especially because i was playable on Mac and i only had a mac for a while. i might pull the trigger soon. it really looks like its just my type of tempo. Good review LCG
Very glad you mentioned that game. There is nothing wrong with more casual approach in space simulators, honestly I prefer them more. And speaking of, please check out Chorvs, discovered it last year, had plenty of fun with it, it's much shorter than ES2 and story is quite original. Has quite addictive gameplay but lacks more advanced upgrade system, there is only few items really.
I got this game awhile ago and it looked so good. I never tried controller but it was rough on me with keyboard and mouse. I only uninstalled it to make room for other games
I think for video content like this and a game like this, it is important to show more of the first person cockpit gameplay and show it early in the video. For many players this is a mandatory option to even consider playing a space flight game.
I'm a big fan of the original and I couldn't wait for this one to come out. Sadly I still haven't been able to get my copy yet, but someday. Also LevelCap have you tried Chorus? Now that was an amazing space shooter and I think you'd like it if you haven't.
I also thought it might be too arcadey and if anything, I prefer first person shooters and sims over third person. But then the raving reviews started coming in and as this game is on Gamepass I decided to give it a try. And it did not disappoint. Easily one of the best games of 2023. I stopped playing it when Starfield came out but I probably will pick it up again at some point.
I've been playing this again recently, and it's a gem. I've also picked up the new F-4E Phantom II module for DCS. And now every time I go back to Star Citizen I can't stomach the awful MM flight model and just log back out. Also, what are these games in the "current trend" of space games that you imply trend towards "super realistic sim"? Please don't say Star Citizen, because it has one of the absolute worst flight models ever made for any space game.
Ive had this title since it was launched as its a classic series. Ive tried to play it many times. The first ship puzzle literally stopped me from progressing on multiple installs. Im a hardware designer by trade so not a moron and the low information 3d ship puzzles needed to progress the story line make/made the game unnecessarily frustrating and I dont have the patience. Like trying to play a side scroller and then finding out its a jumping puzzle too. I have always wanted to like this game. I will give it another go due to your video.
I found this game to be quite difficult. I've played it several times, but I always hit that difficulty wall, plus the loot overwhelms me a bit. Beautiful game, and excellent controls though.
I would also highly recommend Everspace 1 for fans of rogues. Its very fun and in some ways I enjoyed aspects of the first 1 even more. The 2nd is still very fun though!
Do you know Galaxy On Fire II? Android game from Play Store? It's like Star Citizen light. Mining, P.I., shooting, Motberships, Trade, Story, etc... If You play it, between battle and mining you need to change ship control type steering.
I’m on the fence right now thinking about double dipping and buying this for Xbox right now. It’s half off and I know it’s worth it but I don’t know if I’m ready to grind from a fresh save again but I think this game would be awesome on the big screen tv (I have it on Steam already)
It's been on my wishlist for awhile. I like the first one but the 2nd one is a huge departure. Will get it eventually just unwilling to drop $50 for it.
I bought this, but the ships feel like paper... it feels like you are flying an origami paper space ship. I just couldn't get passed the feeling that there isn't a weighty feel to the ships.
Gaaah! Maaaan, ruined my secret. Everspace 2 is one of my goto's when SC is pissing me off. The other is X4 and all it's DLC's. I use my VKB Sticks and Pedal's in those as well. Also X4 has native support for Tobii.
I played Everspace 1 and while the gameplay was certainly well executed, I'm not particularly fond of the Roguelike approach and the constant pressure to progress to the next crossroads node - which is why I never took a second look at Everquest 2, believing it would just be more of the same. I might have to reevaluate my stance on that game now...
Well, it's not a roguelike obviously. Other than that the combat is very similar with the main difference beeing that now you have more customisation option and different guns & stats of the guns. The exploration aspects of the locations with lots of puzzles and rewards is great.
Great to hear you're enjoying EVERSPACE 2 LevelCap! We really appreciate you taking the time to make this fantastic video!

I'm a big fan of the original and I couldn't wait for this one to come out. Sadly I still haven't been able to get my copy yet, but someday. Also LevelCap have you tried Chorus? Now that was an amazing space shooter and I think you'd like it if you haven't.
Love this game
It is a great game , i was backing even the first ES , i have not played it as much as it deserves!
I've just started playing it a couple weeks ago. So far, pretty fun.
Easily one of the best games in the last couple years. So so good!
It supports trackir too!
Hey LevelCap...Whats going on with your space game? I was really enjoying those videos when they came into my feed. I thought it looked really cool.
yeah, this game is awesome
I've been playing this again recently, and it's a gem. I've also picked up the new F-4E Phantom II module for DCS. And now every time I go back to Star Citizen I can't stomach the awful MM flight model and just log back out.
Also, what are these games in the "current trend" of space games that you imply trend towards "super realistic sim"? Please don't say Star Citizen, because it has one of the absolute worst flight models ever made for any space game.
I've had the game since it was in early access but I haven't played it since then. I need to play it again at some point now that it's fully released.
They added new main missions since early access. Also you'll have to start over because they changed so much in the meantime.
@@etuanno No question. I don't even remember how much of the early access I even played.
I did enjoy this game. I did not finish the story line but I did get distracted and got pulled away. I need to go back and finishing this.
It is one of the best games
Levelcap you should try no man's sky in VR specifically. The scale of things in VR will blow you away.
The only game i play on my psvr
Been hesitating on getting this for aaaages. Might finally make the (warp) jump and get it !
great game, btw if you want even more immersive ship control then you can switch off flight assist in options.
Jungle strike, desert strike... But in space and in 3d. It's good
Do you have any purchasing guide out for a decent budget hosas setup?
Interesting , Thank You . I should try it
If you're interested in exploring what indie space games has to offer, you really need to spend some time in Starsector.
It's on sale on Steam right now
Before everspace 1 the made galaxy on fire 1 and 2. Extremely good space games on mobile.
20 TALENTED devs > 200 devs at AAA studios
You can find some guides (Crafting, Beginner, T4 Ship unlock, etc.) and endgame builds for Rifts on my channel 😉
Damn bro is mad late to the party lol
Gives me nomansky space combat.
This whole video bit i still have to research the name of the game you are talking about. Its like a secret.
it is a fantastic game
@@etuanno Thank you for reiterating the point the entire video made.
Great game 🪐
