Playstation 4 - System Music 2 - User Selection (Noiseless - High Quality)

- This is a recording I made for the music that plays during the user selection menu on the Playstation 4.
The audio is noiseless as i had the PS4 plugged into a special chip that outputs audio to I2S, which i then plugged into a Raspberry Pi allowing me to capture it via a call to arecord in linux. The only post-processing on this is normalisation which doesn't add any noise due to the noiseless nature of the source material.
Please watch in high definition to avoid youtube's lossy compression.
Hearing this will hit harder 10 years later when we plug back in the ol' ps4 once more.

The good times when I would wake up in the morning in the weekend noticing that the entire house is empty, booting up my PS4, and then hearing this. I would stay on the login screen for like 5-10 minutes.

This brings back memories, in sixth grade, I would wake up early in the morning everyday, go downstairs, and turn on my PS4, and I would go and make myself a bowl of cereal and I would always hear that in the background.

This reminds me of 2017, that was my favorite year. I loved it. I hade fun with friends, now that’s over.
Favorite years for me were 2018, 2014, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2009, genuinely those years just give huge nostalgia for me as a 2000s child.

I honestly don't think the ps5 is going to be the same. I remember waking up on christmas in 2013 and seeing the ps4 box next to the tree.

I remember hearing this for the first time :Christmas 2015 my brother got a PS4 with The Uncharted Collection. We were so happy we both signed into our PS3 accounts and he pressed the power button and I listened to this song for minutes. It’s wholesome.

reminds me early covid days when i lived away from home with my partner we used to sit on the couch turning the ps4 and staying on this screen while the music played for hours

Similar thing happened with me, I got locked out my account on PSN and well, I was saving up some money for an xbox. I finally got one. I joined a random Call of duty lobby. I heard his voice. I knew it was him. Yeh, thought i lost a friend for a little while

note tho, you should've opened the PS4 up with the power button than the controller. the confirm sound effect wouldn't have played (the account selection screen shows up once a controller opens).

Fun fact: this is theme was supposed to be the original music for whole entire console, but Sony changed because they thought it was too depressing.
