After 1.5 years my PS4 sounds like a Boeing 747
Mine is starting to aswell, I played god of war for 2-3 hours last night and it got really loud. Might be time to redo the thernal paste.
@@james0034 I used artic silver on my launch backwards compatible ps3, and with the fan set to 41% it only gets up to about 53 Celsius after playing games for a long time. Stock that console would be running probably at least 72c-80c maybe a little hotter. I did a couple other cooling mods to it aswell though. My ps4 however is bone stock as far as I know. I think they make these consoles just run kinda hot so they will die at some point and youll need to buy a new one.

@@james0034 good job, its amazing how a little maintenance will help keep these things going. I used to never maintenance them.
If you take it apart slightly and clean all the dust out of it the fan wouldn’t have to work so hard to cool the gpu. That’s what I did and it quieted down significantly.
I own the slim and i am so confused when someone says the ps4 sounds like a jet engine. After watching this video, I understand lmao.
In all honesty he had new PS4 Pro. On used systems, when playing new games it gets much louder than on this video.
Bro if you play with people with who have the OG PS4 you should definitely hear it, because every time im in a party it sounds like we’re all in a airport.

@@brandon_nope the 1st gen ps4 is generally very loud, even if you clean it, you can get the same if not better performance in the ps4 slim, which is the most silent, the pro makes abit of noise but thats because of so much power and it doesnt have the ventilation it really needs

playing the games coming out of the far end of ps4 lifecycle will sound regardless, i play red dead 2 and warzone and my ps4 pro sound like crazy sometimes, but its not that big deal. the biggest problem is yet to come because ghost of tsushima comes out in 2 weeks and that game is gonna have some of the best music in gaming history so this is definately an issue i really hope ps4 pro can run that game somewhat quiet

@@HappyTurtleGod I have stuck with launch-day PS4 since... well launch day, and have replaced the fan and coolant myself. It will probably last another 2 years or so, which by that point, either a PS4 Slim, or a PS5 is in order.

I think it is an intentional sound, if I'm not mistaken, isn't that the sound of the disc holder spinning so the laser can read it?

Tbh I've learned to forget the sound when I'm playing to only be remembered how bad or loud it sounds when I turn it off.
The slim version is perfectly fine and if the PS5 is quieter than that, oh my god that will be insane. To finally play games at night at lower sound levels and not to be forced to crank the volume up only to "cover" the PS4 noise. Amazing!
Although if PS5 is in line with the slim version I'd be more than happy too.

recommended to me in 2020 and still in love with my ps slim. Chose it over pro because i didnt have a 4k tv and no regrets. Silent and hardly any heat produced. Such a difference from my base ps4 that could warm my small room making it unbearable in summer

So with the upcoming Nintendo Switch, Nintendo will allow you to play on a plane.

Keep in mind that the most recent version of the PS4 pro, the CUH-7200 released in 2018, is just as quiet as the PS4 slim shown here.
I own that PS4 Pro. It isn’t very quite. My son owns the Slim, it is by FAR more quite.
Wow that's really surprising the slims the quietest. You'd think that it would have the smallest fans which would spin the fastest as a result.
Matt 24 It's new chip set requires less wattage which means it requires less cooling.
True the fans are probably smaller, but it also doesn't need to run them as fast to keep the console cool.

Playing the DMC5 demo made my PS4 Pro sing like ive never heard it, thought I was about to break it.
I feel like alot of people forget sony released another version of the original ps4 like a year or 2 after which can be identified by the lack of a glossy top and the buttons are actually physical and even though its outer appearance is mostly the same apart from that it doesnt sound that loud from my experience at least. My dads launch ps4 on the other hand... that's a different story.

When a precision air strike comes I can’t tell the difference of it was my ps4 or the game sound
I was so confused when people said the PS4 sounded like a jet engine but then when im playing a intensely detailed game like Uncharted 4 on my PS4 Slim, it didn't make any sound. Now i know why.
The OG PS4 does sound like a Jet Engine while playing uncharted 4, I can vouch for that. Slim one seems to be the best, but I'm happy with my Pro.
Pro is still not bad.. Sure, it makes a bit more sound then the Slim, but it's also more powerfull so gets hotter and needs more cooling.. Just keep it in a well ventilated not to hot place.. Do not put it in some cabinet like some people do, then it will get hotter and make more noise.. Common sense really..
PS4 original, now that's bad.. I would replace it with a slim or Pro for sure, just to get rid of the noise..

That noise is not good especially after awhile. Get your thermal coat re done.
BANDIT THE UNHOLY HEADHUNTER Thermal paste won't fix these, it's a design fault.
CEWIIH it will I had this problem too and what's happening is the fan is having a hard time functioning so i had my fan replaced as well as the thermal coating because it was barely there anymore.
I've only had the ps4 slim, I never realised the original ps4 was that loud
I needed this.. now in 2020!
But what model is each one? Especially the Pro and the Slim.. because the first pro was a living hell fan wise noise
