Love to see directors giving vfx artists the love and credit they deserve, while still sharing funny things that slip through the cracks just like every part of the production process.
I was floored when I heard that. I played Iconoclasts when it was a demo / going around for free. I always thought it was some Japanese dude based on the art style. That's one talented family right there.
I LOVE stuff like this, I feel like you're single handedly bringing back the days of when continuity and effects errors are fun and nerdy to notice and know the backstory of just by being purely honest about how it happens and candid about the process to make these effects happen. When we know how much it takes to make these shots look good it's that much more entertaining to catch where the goof ups are and see a revelation of the process present in the final film. Back before CGI was mainstream it was all the rage to catch tears in the curtains of movie magic.
I appreciate David is very upfront and transparent about all the work done in post-production. Viewers tend to view trailers as 100% indicative of what the final product will look like, forgetting that VFX artists and editors are still working hard to make everything look perfect when it comes out.
Gotta love how down to earth this video feels. Taking time to just discuss the trailer even when there has to be a ton of work still to do works for me so much better than trying to hype everything up.
You’re such an awesome director & honest one. Can’t wait for this film. As a photographer & musician. People don’t understand how much work goes into art. Loved the darker tones you guys are going for along with Black Adam
Thank you for taking your time to do this as the director of this film. Staying to your roots of teaching and acknowledging us as fans. You are the best! Wishing you and your wife great success. 🙏🏻
I love that, even though he is an actual, huge, Hollywood, 200 million dollar film director now, he still uploads to his YT channel. His is the ultimate success story. From making cheap short films on YT to multiple DC films.
You know each time I think about myself as a director in the future I kinda quit the idea and say it wouldn't happen but then I remember you and your story and how you had been struggling to reach your goal. You're and James Cameron are my only encouragement in this dark path to reach Hollywood and to become like you and him. One day....... 🙏🏻
Iconoclasts is an amazing game, I was surprised to see it here, and even more surprised to learn you're the developer's brother. I hope more people play it
Man I hope you join Corridor Crew for another one of their VFX artist react. It's so nice to see you talk about the things you love and show how passionate you actually are about the material you're producing.
Really excited for seeing the new Shazam movie on theaters! It's really nice to have videos like this, you don't always have this sort of personal trivia and comments from a big movie director most of the time.
Thanks for your humility. Most filmmakers don't show the mistakes before the release. They act like they are perfect. The irony is we are more inclined to see your film because you are so honest and open and real with us, and we appreciate that.
Great trailer! The trailer is edited beautifully and it’s one of the most engaging trailer of this SDCC. Excited to see the sequel! Loved the first film.
The sole fact that you worked with Helen Mirren on this project is INSANE. I hope we get to see Lotta make an appearance, as well. Looking forward to seeing this movie! Thank you for giving us some of the film's trivia!
No need to apologize David, I loved the trailer! The first Shazam movie is one of my favorite comic book films of all time, and I love the family message and the genuine fun factor of the film. So hyped for this next one, and I plan to see it opening day! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for shouting out your brother's game! It was on my wishlist since a while, but I honestly forgot about it until now, so I'll very likely get it now
1:18 I LOVE THIS REFERENCE Been a fan of Joakim Sandberg's work for years, still shocking to know you two are brothers, hope he has a cameo like in the first one, if not this will do
I love watching your videos, shows how much you really do care about your projects, thankyou for making Shazam 1&2, definitely the better DC movies of the DCU.
Don't worry david, i watched this trailer for like 10 times, i have not notice any flaws like the cape one at all. i however noticed the music and editing was hyped as f**k and i thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for this movie to come out. great job!
love this breakdown for the trailer! Also you really inspired me to go out and make things myself after seeing your blender work on the corridor video!
Honestly my favourite creative style. No ego, realistic, optimistic, and curious to try stuff out to see how it goes. I bet you're awesome to work with
I honestly didn't notice the cape missing in that one specific shot. That said can't wait for this to come out because that'll be around the same time I rewatch the first one. Also when first watching this trailer didn't notice annabelle sitting in that office.
Mr. Sandberg sir, you're probably not going to see this, but you're like a hero to me and your advice, anecdotes, and videos of yourself giving the middle finger to the camera were all huge sources of inspiration when I was making my way through film school. Thanks for what you do and I can't wait to see the movie!!!
The story at the end illustrates that no matter how good VFX technology is, the labour-intensive art of it is still done by human beings with budgets and deadlines. Glad to see David has a positive attitude about it.
Thank you for being so cool and understanding with some of the shortcomings of the VFX and the respective studios. It's nice to see a director not make fun or degrade the VFX of their own movie. -wink wink nudge nudge-
I Love your work so much. Weirdly enough found you through "The Importance of Sound" instead of Lights Out. And been a huge fan of your work since then. It's fantastic to see that you are able to keep doing RUclips videos about Shazam 2. Can't wait to see it and your future contributions to the creative world. You've been a huge Inspiration and i wanted you to know that 💪
great video, i saw some people on twitter discussing the fulci reference and being negative about it cause it was in a superhero movie which seemed silly to me. love the fact that even a movie that, sure, is pretty corporately made can have a lot of heart in it
Thank you, David Sandberg, for all the effort and care you put into your films. Shazam! is one of only a select few 21st century superhero films that understands how to depict true heroism on screen. That movie meant a whole lot to me as someone who grew up with a fractured family life and tried to find their place in the world. A little heart can go a long way, and your movies have a ton of heart! I'll be there opening night for Fury of the Gods with all my friends!
Thanks for putting together this breakdown of elements and trivia for the preview. Very informative and interesting. Yeah, I missed those elements myself, so I know most people will as well.
The most funny thing for me is that shazam's color pallette looks cooler n darker than black Adam which is meant to be more darker, plus David you are one of my fav director and i love how funny, informative and decent guy you are, damn excited for shazam fury of the gods 🎉
Love you work with Shazam, hope to see more of your stile in DC - light and fun but a different fun than MCU. That's what DC needs, I think. Also, could you please do one of those TOP-EASTER-TRIVIA-FACT when the whole movie comes out? It will be quite legendary =)
Can’t wait to see this! I loved the first movie and it’s clear the passion you had for it was part of what made it so good. Hoping for some more of those awsome pg-13 horror scenes
Haha great video David. The first one was great and this looks so freaking awesome! I can’t wait to see the Shazam family fight Greek mythology creatures!
I had no idea about the connection to “The Iconoclasts.” Nifty game, highly recommend. I also didn’t know about shooting with the “mini cape.” From BTS photos of various superhero films, I just assumed ALL capes were added in post.
So fucking wild that the director is just a RUclipsr. And I would consider him a RUclipsr as well as a director, not a director that happens to RUclips. Thanks for the insight, as always! New film looks great!
I appreciate that you do this David! It is fun to learn about trivia for movies that you like :D EDIT: I did not catch the cape moment at my first viewings and not even when you slowed it down.....so brava! :)
I loved the first movie. Zachary Levi fits perfectly but for me Jack Dylan Grazer had the funniest scenes. I know rights are complicated but in theory, as long its not used in marketing you could call him Captain Marvel in the movie right?
I didn't notice any bad VFX or even the cape. The trailer is great, I'm really looking forward to seeing it in theaters! And thank you for all your videos, it helps your fellow introverted, aspiring filmmakers like myself.
Love your work David. This movie looks like it has a much greater cinematic quality to it compared to the first one. So eggar to see how awesome it all turns out.
Love to see directors giving vfx artists the love and credit they deserve, while still sharing funny things that slip through the cracks just like every part of the production process.
It helps that he used to do all his own VFX work
I absolutely LOVE Iconoclasts. I would never have imagined that you two were brothers.
I was floored when I heard that. I played Iconoclasts when it was a demo / going around for free. I always thought it was some Japanese dude based on the art style. That's one talented family right there.
EXACTLY

Hang on. Your brother made one of the BEST Metroidvania games out there!?!? Iconoclasts is super sick XD
The Fact he said not a single spoiler in this vid is extremely impressive
Lol he should teach Tom Holland some tricks
It was just a 4 minute pre scripted video, so he had to try to tell a spoiler
Well yeah he’s talking about the filmmaking not the movie itself
@@Frosty-the-puddle oh im sure at least half of that is planned for publicity. spoilers generate buzz and get you trending on twitter.
David's got a nice, soothing voice. He could definitely do audiobooks.
Love this trailer (and love that you're giving us an inside look at some of what went into it!)
Whitney's a shazam fan? OMG!
Well, fancy seeing you here!
I appreciate David is very upfront and transparent about all the work done in post-production. Viewers tend to view trailers as 100% indicative of what the final product will look like, forgetting that VFX artists and editors are still working hard to make everything look perfect when it comes out.

The transparency and passion here is legit and I can't wait to watch the product of everybody's hard work.
i really appreciate you take time to tell us stories about filmmaking, thanks and i'm really hype for shazam 2
Really excited for seeing the new Shazam movie on theaters!
It's really nice to have videos like this, you don't always have this sort of personal trivia and comments from a big movie director most of the time.

I don't know if there exists any director who is so simple, cool & creative to share their process.👌 Will definitely check this movie👍🏻💪
By far the best trailer on Comic-Con!!! LOVE IT.
It’s the best DC trailer. You gotta give props to Wakanda Forever for theirs
I love seeing how the sausage is made, and ponysmasher is generous with his sausage.
I was really worried about Shazam 2 because of the questionable CGI but I'm so glad to know that it's not an issue, BACK ON THE SHAZAM HYPE TRAIN
Great trailer! The trailer is edited beautifully and it’s one of the most engaging trailer of this SDCC.
Excited to see the sequel! Loved the first film.
I love the sense of this production but also how chill you are in showing us this stuff.
I'm a huge fan of your work and person.
Saludos desde México.
This gentleman always gives back to the community what he learnt. Would respect this man any day.
The sole fact that you worked with Helen Mirren on this project is INSANE. I hope we get to see Lotta make an appearance, as well. Looking forward to seeing this movie! Thank you for giving us some of the film's trivia!
Lotta is indeed in it. Not the same character as in the first one though. That character is very dead.
Loved the Iconoclasts and Fulci references!
No need to apologize David, I loved the trailer! The first Shazam movie is one of my favorite comic book films of all time, and I love the family message and the genuine fun factor of the film. So hyped for this next one, and I plan to see it opening day! Keep up the good work!!!

This is why you're one of my favorite directors. This youtube channel is a gold mine
1:18 I LOVE THIS REFERENCE
Been a fan of Joakim Sandberg's work for years, still shocking to know you two are brothers, hope he has a cameo like in the first one, if not this will do
I'm so hyped for your movie ! You and zack snyder made the best DC movies ! Keep going !
Wait no way- your brother made Iconoclasts? Your entire family is so talented! That’s one of my favourite games! I had no idea
This dude is the most coolest Badass ever
Got to support the family.
I love watching your videos, shows how much you really do care about your projects, thankyou for making Shazam 1&2, definitely the better DC movies of the DCU.
Thank you so much for this video! Watching it was a joy
I noticed the Annabelle doll in the paediatrician's office. Nice touch!
Don't worry david, i watched this trailer for like 10 times, i have not notice any flaws like the cape one at all. i however noticed the music and editing was hyped as f**k and i thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for this movie to come out. great job!

Thank you for sharing with us!
Never would have noticed the missing cape had you not said anything. Super hyped for Shazam 2 :)
I honestly didn't notice the cape missing in that one specific shot. That said can't wait for this to come out because that'll be around the same time I rewatch the first one. Also when first watching this trailer didn't notice annabelle sitting in that office.
David, thank you so much for this video! I’m so excited for the new film and so grateful for the first one! ✌🏻❤️⚡️

So cool to see this inside info that we never really could in the past. Also loved the respect that you gave to the vfx artists.
Love getting these inside looks at the movie! Great work from all the teams involved. Can not wait to see this!
Bro absolutely loved the trailer can't wait to have my butt in the cinema watching this. love the cast and love you man!
Woah, I had no idea your brother made Iconoclasts! Not surprising though, that game is great! Clearly you're a very talented family!
Thank you, David Sandberg, for all the effort and care you put into your films. Shazam! is one of only a select few 21st century superhero films that understands how to depict true heroism on screen. Wake up babe, a new Ponysmasher video just dropped
Looks great David!! Gonna see it first day it comes out
Thanks for putting together this breakdown of elements and trivia for the preview. Very informative and interesting. Yeah, I missed those elements myself, so I know most people will as well.
I am so looking forward to some really badass shockwaves throughout the fight scenes. I love your work Mr. Sandberg
More Directors need to do this i love it also shout out to Warner Bros for letting you post it because Disney dont play with that lol
Can't wait to see this movie!
Great to see u again :-D And thanks for the inspiration to making movies :-)
This man is a national treasure. Which nation, you ask? All of them.
This movie looks even better than the original!!!
Iconoclasts is one of my all-time favorite games! I had no idea Joakim and David F. are brothers!! Such an unreal amount of talent in one family!!!
The coolest director i've ever seen
Oh nice! I’ve missed these little insight video
The most funny thing for me is that shazam's color pallette looks cooler n darker than black Adam which is meant to be more darker, plus David you are one of my fav director and i love how funny, informative and decent guy you are, damn excited for shazam fury of the gods 🎉

See, I noticed that the VFX were painted out at the end, in your Ponysmasher bookend. Because the as-shot version of the bookend was NSFYT.
Haha great video David. The first one was great and this looks so freaking awesome! I can’t wait to see the Shazam family fight Greek mythology creatures!
I had no idea about the connection to “The Iconoclasts.” Nifty game, highly recommend.

Thanks for the insight, as always! New film looks great!
Love hearing this perspective on it right after watching the trailer. Looking forward to the movie!
Damn Iconoclasts AND directing bunch of famous movies, now that's a succesful family
I appreciate that you do this David! It is fun to learn about trivia for movies that you like :D
EDIT: I did not catch the cape moment at my first viewings and not even when you slowed it down.....so brava! :)
Really looking forward to this one! ☺️
I loved the first movie.
Zachary Levi fits perfectly but for me Jack Dylan Grazer had the funniest scenes.
I know rights are complicated but in theory, as long its not used in marketing you could call him Captain Marvel in the movie right?

i lost my head with the Robin and green lantern bears
I didn't notice any bad VFX or even the cape. The trailer is great, I'm really looking forward to seeing it in theaters! And thank you for all your videos, it helps your fellow introverted, aspiring filmmakers like myself.
I didn't know about iconoclast. i love so much.
YEAH!!!! I LOVE SHAZAM AND YOU'RE CHANNEL !!
Eventually you’re gonna have to work in a smashed pony as an Easter Egg… poor pony
Gonna be awesome, can’t wait!
I didn't even notice the Iconoclasts shirt because I was too busy admiring the white tree of Gondor! :D
O easter egg que eu mais gostei foi "Torpa" é tão fofinho! 💖 Amei
Will now become a tourist destination for Shazam fans.... :)
Grymt, Jönköping represent!
Love your work David. This movie looks like it has a much greater cinematic quality to it compared to the first one. So eggar to see how awesome it all turns out.
I AM SO HYPED FOR THIS
This movie is gonna be fucking amazing as you can tell I’m a huge Shazam fan
Can't wait to see it :D
