- Hemkunt Sahib formally known as Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh (1666-1708), the tenth Sikh Guru, and finds mention in Dasam Granth. With its setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks, each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff, it is according to the Survey of India located in the Garhwal Himalaya at an elevation of 4,632 meters (15,197 feet). It is approached from Govindghat on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. The main town near Gobindghat is Joshimath. The elevation of the lake at Hemkund is approximately 15,197 feet.

Can't say anything about what you have said about this. Although I have not been to Hem kund sahib. But it got some popularity in 1973 . Because one of my relative was invited by some SGPC that they are going to Hem kund sahib for the construction of the present Gurudwara. And the couple went with that jetha in 1973. When they came back and come to know that I got a baby by the grace of God. So she came to see the child and to give the Parshad. Then she told me that you people got son and daughter and now you family is completed and as she said ," she gave may be Rs 250 bhatta as gurudwara' building. So in have to pay that amount to her. "At that time 250 was good amount. Any way my aim is to tell the fact is present building is started round about during that period and after that people started going there. Otherwise first only English people used to go to see the flower valley because army people wrote about it. Any way I appreciate your efforts to give such good description and such beautiful Sikh historical places. Thank you. May God bless you with more courage and understand to give more description of Sikhs historical places. I like your description because it is of good educated person not granthi who made the true historical facts into mith like that guru nanak Sahib was born with white beard. Nobody is to believe in scientific age . Thank you so much. Have long happy and healthy life with the grace of God

How do you explain the spiritual experiences regarding Guru Gobind Singh Ji some sangat have had at Hemkund? You have given hindu text from their adopted faith. Hind were a tribe from the hills who had no faith they adopted the vedas as theirs. This writing you seem to accept yet you raise questions over Dasam Granth that great Mahapuraks accept? You accept the hindu writings but not that of the turban and kara you wear. Which begs the question who are you really. Valley of flowers has a story but its not the one you just told. Believe me. Those plants are poisonous. So the devtas in your story threw poison on to laxman???? What a joker.
