I had to smile when you said you had bought a used knitting book from the Tacoma library. That is where I live! Small world. I just happened on your channel this moment and here you are talking about Tacoma! I love the tour of all the yarn shops and the yarn. Amazing colors.

The more I move around the world the smaller it becomes. I'm always finding weird links to the people around me! Aren't the shops in Tokyo cute? They do such a good job at displaying their yarn.

Okonomiyaki!!! I had this when I lived in Vancouver. A Japanese native opened a restaurant there and made this. So good. I loved the Amirisu shop. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your trip.

I have a hard time picking favorites but I was welcomed so warmly in the Amirisu shop! I could have done a lot more shopping there but my suitcase was precariously full. I actually ended up filling a shopping bag with yarn and using it as my carry on for the flight home.

This is such a fun video! I'm going to Tokyo this summer so have been on the lookout for yarn shops where I can buy local yarn. Your video made me so much more excited for it 😊

Stumbled on this video looking through Japanese (yarn) craft stuff. Really enjoyed it! I had to giggle at the robot in the restaurant. I live in the Netherlands and a a couple of months ago we saw one of those at a Dutch restaurant too. Now that I've seen this I think it is very possible that this robot originates in Japan because the robot we saw showed a cat face on the display occasionally, which was just the cutest thing (the robot itself seem to have cat ears which completed the face). It was basically an aid to busting tables, so the servers would load it up with dishes and then 'send it' to the kitchen to be unloaded. I would love to visit Japan one day and your video helps me get oriented on the idea. I am a weaver as well as knitter/crocheted (also do a bit of Kumihimo and temari). I would love to see some traditional yarn craft so if you have any tips, that would be so great!

Japan is starting to open it's boarders back up to travel. You should come and visit! I find it fairly easy to travel in Japan, google translate goes a long way but frankly there are a lot of English speakers around. I personally love the kasuri weaving and the bingata or tsutsugaki dye techniques.

I was so proud of myself for finishing the Mt Fuji hike! All week I thought I wouldn't be able to make it up the mountain. Have you climbed Mt. Fuji?

Glad you enjoyed it! It took forever to edit and there's so much more footage I didn't manage to fit in. But I really enjoyed putting the episode together.

The worst part about getting the knitting mojo back is now I want to cast on everything but I have all these unfinished wips from when the mojo was low. Must finish a few projects before I jump into the my Tokyo haul!

It's funny when I look back at the video where I'm near the top, my voice sounds like I'm whispering but I think it was the altitude, my voice took a while to recover. I'm so glad I hiked it though!

Just stumbled upon your episode. My family and I climbed Fuji-san in '19 so Ioved reminiscing as I watched and heard about your experience. We had a very packed trip so I didnt even dream of suggesting yarn shop visits. Now I know where to go next time we visit. Thank you.

The drive in and out of Tokyo was pretty expensive. If I did it again I might spend a few nights in Fujiyama and then move and spend a few nights in Tokyo.

Isn't it! I've been looking at it a lot this week thinking of casting something on. I bought it with the Olive Leaf Pullover in mind but the more I look at the pattern I'm not sure that's what this yarn is meant to be.

It’s so beautiful I can’t wait to see what you do with it! PS Going to Japanese yarn shop (Misawa) & getting to buy my first yarn is one of my most treasured memories! Blessings

What was it like being on top of the clouds or in the clouds ☁️? Maybe in the next episode a little share? 👍😃

    • @haxtonknits
      @haxtonknits  3 года назад +1

What came to mind when I was above the clouds was all the shots I had taken during my plane flight. All those shots were the transition through the clouds. It felt funny to think that I had climbed on foot a similar path that the plane takes during takeoff.

That's cool.... but also a little scary. There was a map showing the area a round Fuji that was affected the last time it erupted and it's all full of houses now! But the area is so beautiful, I love all the lakes. Since I was living in Okinawa the area around Fuji is so strikingly different, the architecture and landscape are just so beautiful.

84 % Acrylic14% Mohair 2% Wool. I made the Metropolis sweater by Tanis Lavelle but I use the color work charts from Tecumseh from Caitlyn Hunter. www.ravelry.com/projects/HaxtonKnits/tecumseh
