The Lost Dimension in Minecraft's Code

- Did you know that many years ago, there were plans on adding another dimension to Minecraft, different from the nether? What's more surprising is that this dimension was almost completely coded and was actually added to the game- but nobody could ever get there, because there was still no portal. And after a few updates, the dimension was removed from the code and lost forever. The only way you could ever see this place was to edit the beta game files themselves. So that's exactly what we're going to do!!

Another mod, Rediscovered, implements a bunch of old content, including a theoretical take on the sky dimension as well, including having to get there via bed, and having the unimplemented normal Pigmen as villagers and trading for the former Ruby currency, now added as its own ore alongside Emerald, though their trades are mainly for more scrapped items, like Sky Blue Wool and what not
It could be a different race of Piglins hrhehe
I remember there being a Red Dragon boss. Like this was where you were supposed to face the boss of Minecraft before they changed it to be The End

Ruby was actaully removed because one of the minecraft devs were colorblind and thought it looked like an emerald.
So technically the emerald replaced ruby
imagine someone accidentally building their world in a sky dimension and when they fall they just go back to their little hut with a bed and then they are all like "oh right"
That is pretty much what playing with the aether mod was back then.
I loved the Sky Dimension and wish it had been finished. The Sky Dimension was meant to be the opposite of the Nether. Peaceful, bright, cold, and in the sky.
The End was just as gloomy as the nether but in a different way.
You can sort of find dimensions similar to the Sky dimension in 20w14infinite.

I wonder if there is a secret nether creature or biome. Keep up the work Squiddo, you always make me wonder about more things in Minecraft.
The Allay was a (evil?) Nether Creature that spawned in the soul sand valley; however, they were never added, thus we don't have nether ghosts but now have the Allay.

This is only an idea I have, but you know how Warp blue forest is the exact opposite of crimson forest or just nether in general? Combine it with Matpat's theory that Nether used to have Ice age, I think It'd also make sense that there's creatures living in that blue warp forest who's power are Ice.

In indev paridice was a world theme , floating is the world shape that turns it into floating islands. Paridice just makes it sunny with faster crops and larger beaches
The Sky Dimension would still be awesome imo, just needs to be fleshed out more.
I remember playing on a server called Gazamo back in 2011, they had the Sky Dimension as its own world on there; you could get to it with a command. It looked the exact same as if you modified the game to have it generate in singleplayer, so I guess the way the unused code worked allowed vanilla players to enter it as well with no differences.

i love little big planet
I think it had a lot of potential to be a proper heaven dimension. The End is more of a space dimension than a heaven dimension. In its current form, it wouldn't be very good but if you gave it exclusive structures, a few exclusive blocks, and some exclusive mobs, it could be really cool. I'd like to see it having a layer of clouds under it to show it is above the clouds and having mobs that are similar to angels. It could also have a boss that is a loose reference to God like how the Wither is a loose reference to Satan. It would also potentially have structures made of a special kind of quartz called Heaven Quartz (or whatever the dimension is called). Instead of water not being able to be placed in it, lava and fire could not be able to be placed in it. Instead of your bed exploding, it would just take you to the overworld again or to your portal.
A lot of these ideas are present in the Aether mod!

Honestly I'd really like to have sky demension as a necessary demension to end the game, like you need to go to the nether, then to the sky demension and only then in the End demension (or firstly the End and only then Sky demension because you need to have Elytra to pass through)

It would be awesome to have an updated version of this. I'd play it, maybe as a game mode vs a different dimension. Lile the whole map would generate that way, but I think it needs river's and lakes too, as well as lava

I know the “sky dimension” still kind of exists as a playable world when you would custom make a world, and change the world style to end. I don’t know if this is still in the game, but back when you could fully customize your worlds it was a fun (if utterly useless) side thing.

i dont know if you were using an optimized minecraft client but if you were, just use the vanilla client when you run mods next time, a lot of optimization mods break some mods that utilize glitches or unoptimized features that get changed by optimization mods causing stuff to break

In java on customized worlds if you choose (i think) floating islands it will have any biome as a floating island

I think you can access this using custom world types. If you want a more modern version of minecraft that doesn't have custom world types, immersive portals has a feature that allows you to generate a world like that.

Technically speaking the sky dimension wasn't removed per se, it was just heavily reworked and eventually became the end. In older versions in the f3 menu, the end was still labelled as "sky"

So, the sky dimeson was changed to a world type in the 3 updates you mentioned
chisel and carpenters block is an fun mod to play where you can chisel blocks.
mabey ou can look at old mods that dantm have play in the past and try them? or play the oldest mods that exsts. btw i love our videos you are the best youtuber. stardew valley is an really cool game that i think you would like.
