Greg.jar was a Scary Minecraft Mod Created by DiffyMC. Think of the Cave Dweller but faster, smarter, and more relentless. Not only that, Greg corrupts your random inventory items on hit, so it's no matter how strong you are, you simply won't have enough materials to fight infinitely. Oh, and if you use shield (which author of this video didn't), it would be corrupted in the first place, leaving you with nothing to defend against further corruption.
I feel the difference is, greg was accidently scary. If you try to make something scary so hard, it'll be just another monster. Greg has the fnaf effect, hes uncanny, and he makes you feel powerless, to the point you can't fight back, you either bunker up, or run.

The cave dweller isn't scary because it can be cheesed, hurt, survived, and killed. Greg is scary because it doesn't lack those weaknesses. In terms of design as well, the cabe dweller is just a pale enderman while Greg is more unnatural, tapping into the innate fear of spiders for some people, and just always smiling, which shows little or no emotion, unlike the cave dweller, which feels less like being attacked by some unnatural entity and more like a starving puppy. You also have the sense of security with the cave dweller staying in caves, but Greg fixes that issue of the cave dweller. Tldr, cave dweller is a noob and Greg is the Gigachad
I agree, objectively Greg isn't even scary. It's his SHEER WILL to kill you without falling to simple exploits. Like dude I was so mind blown from the water suction I knew I found THE MOD

Dude, being unable to survive eventually gets tiring and frustrating, which was the point of Greg. Of freaking COURSE they couldn't make the Cave Dweller OP and unkillable, that would LITERALLY make it so caving is a DEATH SENTENCE.

Maybe you could build tower on the frozen ocean and build 3 blocks up every time he spawns at your Y level, when you can't build higher jump, ice boat to new area and repeat until you get to dimension?

He can build up to you as fast as he can run to you, if I'm not mistaken.
You could spawn in a village and get everything you need to build " greg totem" then use shears to get blocks ,before first gregs spawn maybe it is posible.

As you run, Greg chases and stalks you. maybe if you embrace the Greg, it'll go away.
It’s scary for sure, but the most horrifying? It’s gotta compete with the Night Dweller. And that thing is far more terrifying imo. This thing is still scary, but more in the “why the fuck is it so OP?” way.

There’s no horror in that, you can’t play against him (sure the main dev wasn’t even planning for him to be scary, just unfair, which is what he is) but unfair does not make scary, or does not KEEP scary for a while eventually u just go “this sucks” once u get tired of getting ur spine done like a pretzel, the only note the cave dweller has against him is that
The cave dweller can be beaten way too easily
If the cave dweller was a diamond only or you lose type scenario then he would be kinda scary but he can straight up die to you with a wooden axe
