RECOMMENDED VIOLINS:
Fiddlerman violins are the only violins I currently recommend. You can choose the violin to suite you depending on your budget. Remember the cheaper you go (buying rubbish from Amazon for example), the worse the violin will be (garbage most likely) and the HARDER it will be to learn - which is why Fiddlerman violins are an excellent beginners choice:

Now I know why my violin wasn't producing any sound. I've not put the rosins. Infact, I didn't even notice that there was a rosin inside the tiny box.😂😂😂

Same here. But I ended up hating the violin. Is so stupidly delicate and seems like I need toddler fingers.
I had been ROSINING the bow for the last 6 hours or so! Then I saw your video, didn't have a nail filer, took a pair of scissors, roughed up the rosin surface, and in less than 20 seconds, I got all the sounds out of the violin. Now there's the problem of too much rosin cuz it keeps sedimenting on top of the strings and on the violin, but I took care of that!

I got my first violin today. This was a very informative video, especially the part about the rosin. I never knew why the rosin was used before. I can't wait to begin my learning process. Going to try to learn this amazing instrument on my own and with the help of you tube tutorials such as this one.

I always wanted to learn violin as a kid. Decided to pick it up as an adult. Haven't played an instrument in years. Played piano and guitar intermittently growing up, but haven't owned an instrument in awhile. Looking forward to the challenge!

I'm watching this video in 2022 yet its significantly helpful. I've just bought my violin and could not get a sound out of it after following all the directions in the book. And you did not go on and on about rosin it was exactly what I missed . My book did specifically say that no rosin means no sound. Thank you!

I am so relieved that you didn't appear to show contempt for that mv200...or the brand! My son's instructor told us to stay away from that brand at all costs! So we went with the school's recommended rental company, but I just bought a mv300 for myself, so that I can learn along with him and help encourage him....

Super useful video! I really had no idea I had to rosin a new bow first. I spent like 30 mins applying rosin till I realised I need to press the horsehair harder into the rosin 😂

You can use the metal piece on the frog to rough up the rosin. Just scratch it into the edge to make it work.

Thank you so much. This was helpful. But my newly purchased violin do not come with an extra stringe and shoulder rest. I think the seller must have removed that to sell it separately. Terrible enough. Plus, I got it for $35. I think it's a fair price. 4/4 size.

Thank you very much indeed for this series of tutorials. I'm an unsigned musician who has never touched a violin in his entire life, and I play guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, percussion etc. I decided that if I could add a violin to the mix, even if I could only get three notes out of the darned thing, I might at least get some interesting sounds if I use a lot of effects to mask my clumsyness.
Unfortunately it soon became apparent that I didn't have a single clue about how to set it up or what to do - so this tutorial is a lifesaver!
My cheapo student violin refuses to stay in tune, so I'm going to be paying particular attention to the tuning vidoes.
Just started watching your lessons and there are positive signs of improvement.
Have learnt so much in 2 weeks.
I have also played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Please let me know how to improve more.
