    • @James-tv4pl

      People will lose their jobs and then retrain in an area which still requires workers. That's how technological advances have worked ever since the industrial revolution

    • @jabbadabbajew6035
      @jabbadabbajew6035 2 дня назад

      @James-tv4pl is that why nearly 4 out of 10 people are either seeking work or economically inactive then? It displaces jobs. I’ve seen it first hand over the last 35 years in work.

    • @James-tv4pl
      @James-tv4pl 2 дня назад

      @jabbadabbajew6035 You make that sound bad but it's really not in reality. The total employment rate for working age people (aged 16-64) is 74.9%. of the remaining 25%, the vast majority of 16-18s will be in education, roughly 37.5% of 18 year olds will then choose to go to university for at least 3 years, and a small number of people near the top of that range would be retired. Of the remaining economically inactive people, roughly 2.8 million are primarily inactive due to long-term sickness. Only about 4.3% of people are actively seeking a job (this is the unemployment rate). If there was a lack of jobs due to AI and technology, we would be seeing a much higher unemployment rate as able-bodied people would be unable to find work. However, this is not seen.

    • @jabbadabbajew6035
      @jabbadabbajew6035 2 дня назад

      @James-tv4pl they don’t count people who are economically inactive in the official figures. This pushes the numbers up to the levels I quoted earlier. Society needs a solution for displaced workers. Unfortunately the world is run by Oligarchs so that’s not going to happen.
      It won’t affect me though because I’m retiring at 50.

      @@cmdkaboom not really, AI is artificial but it isn't intelligent, it doesn't reason it just finds words that match your query. It gives thale impression it knows but all it does is matching words. My son is a coder and asked me to do machine learning with a AI that is you ask questions and if the answer is wrong you rearrange the question to see if the search engine gets the answer you are searching for. But intelligence isn't a database it is understanding, comparing and deducting, being deduction the real core action. Computers can't deduct because no one has find a code they can input in a computer that will work deducting. The art of deduction requires more than searching for words, it requires analysing and that is going to be very complicated to put in computer code because it isn't an action which answer is in a database because deducting is specific to probabilities so which probability one chosen in the he deduction is a response that has multiple possibilities to start with. Is a bit the exercises you get when you are studying logic, there can be several answers but which one is the most perfect answer is the conundrum. Computers can't handle induction, deduction and so on.

    Eh? Labour cancelled the super computer that was planned. Sorry, guys. As for AI, that needs masses of storage, which need loads of electricity. Which we don't have currently and are unlikely to have unless we heavily invest in smr. Given the current financial position that seems unlikely. AI is ok in its box. If chatGPT is anything to go by its fairly limited. You have to set really strict literal parameters. You can also get it to answer yes and no to the same question, depending on how it's phrased. Automation has been around for a long time. Just watch out for the security concerns. There will be many along with tons of mistakes. Which will undoubtedly ruin people's lives just like Horizon did for the Post Office people. Humans who refuse to believe something doesn't work are usually the biggest issue.

As my supercoder son has told me and he studied AI at uni, it is just a sophisticated search engine but often gets it wrong which I agree with because he asked me to do machine learning with AI so it improves. Conclusion yes is faster than Google but it has bloopers like Google so not perfect by any measure. There is no artificial intelligence, AI isn't sentient ergo it isn't intelligent. What is it? A much better database superior to goggle. It is not a panacea and the principle rubbish in rubbish out applies. AI isn't human, doesn't feel nor has independent thoughts. It will indeed search faster but sometimes it comes with real bloopers. So be aware this will backfire if the people handling it doesn't know what they are doing. IT and AI require specialized people, this is something the computer tinkerers can't handle and if the do it can be a disaster.
