Honestly I was expecting more villains would show up but they're focused on the story of the court of owls. Still, I love what they did to Clayface & Harley
Love what they did with Harley, they made her a badass and a MILF, I love it. Voice actress totally nailed it, I personally like this Harley a lot more than Arkham Harley.

So I see a lot of people talking about the low number of villains, but I’m also going to say the story telling here feels really… IDK lackluster… With Freeze he’s freezing Gotham and talking about making people suffer like he does similar to Batman Beyond but no talk of Nora at all? Did something happen to her? Is Nora not a thing in this universe? Maybe it’s just me but decoupling Nora from Freeze always seems to make the character very basic. Harley is kinda just here, but I like that she’s not Joker’s goon, but there’s no talking about him from her? Kinda weird… Clayface was good and done pretty well with him being an actor and wanting to be seen by Gotham. The league being at war with the Court and Talia being evil was not really a twist and bring back Bruce I saw coming a mile away. The Court was pretty good as they were done like their introduction and Penguin is great, but is kinda just there to move the story along. I know the Devs wanted to focus on the story, but i think most of these villains got a raw deal. And I know the Arkham games waisted a lot of villains, but the dialogue you hear Between Batman and Villains like Harvey, Joker, etc adds more that there isn’t much of here. Personally, I think every playable character should’ve had a specific villain side quest that’s personal to them. Like Batgirl fighting Firefly, Killer Moth, etc… Dick fighting Harvey something to give more a personal edge to the fights because the difference in dialogue between the characters doesn’t seem that different in all honestly. And with Batman dead, why are there no massive turf wars between mob bosses like Great White Shark, Black Mask, Two-Face, etc… or even them coming across the Court. I mean in Arkham Knight Batman wasn’t dead and the city was festering with villains and yes yes… I know people don’t like that this game is being compared to the Arkham games and the Avengers Games, but let’s be real here… it’s in the same genre so that’s what people are going to be expecting. A lot of this just seems like a waisted opportunity, but I guess we’ll see what the DLC has in store.

Freeze is explained throughout, outside cutscenes. He's become more callous and violent and to a degree started enjoying being a villain for some time. Then Nora was healed succesfully, and when she woke up she was horrified by all Victor did in the meantime and outright broke up with him. He's essentially in denial and thinks it's because of his condition rather than what he did, so he made a deal with Batman to stay peaceful in return for Bats finding a way to cure him. Then Batman dies and Freeze just goes ballistic. Harley talks a lot about Joker in her Dr.Q spam mails if you read between the lines. It sounds like a really ugly breakup between the two. Regarding turf wars, you can sometimes funnily enough find gangs fighting each other or the aftermath of it at the random crimescenes. Like finding a couple Talons surrounded by dead mobsters in an alley, with one pinned to their van with multiple knives.
I think it's fair to say that death stranding fans probably weren't expecting Die-Hardman to come back ( this is referencing the fact that his English voice actor is in the game as one of the villains)
They just tried to throw everyone in during Arkham Knight, and as cool as it was to see obscure characters like Professor Pyg but they just felt thrown in

It's weird the joker isn't in the game yeah I get he's so overused but funnily enough joker would have been the most distraught over batman's apparent death, in one issue of the comics batman supposedly dies and joker is so distraught about it he gives up his life of crime completely, even holding a normal job and living a normal life never to be the clown prince of crime again, only for him to return to his crazy persona after it's discovered batman was infact alive
Analysis on every villain: *Harley Quinn: Totally useless. I don't know why did they bring her into this game. I have told it many times and I will do it again: Harley is a VERY overused character. They could use any other good Batman villain like The Riddler, Two-Face or even Maxie Zeus. *Clayface: He was actually perfect here. His portrayal of a maniac movie actor was brilliant, because that's what Basil Karlo is supposed to behave. He is not a brutish monster but rather an actor with severe mental issues who is also a shapeshifter. *Mr. Freeze: He was very good also. He still keeps his tragic persona with him. His role on this game reminds me of his role in the Batman Beyond TV show where he also tried to freeze the entire Gotham so they can feel his misery as well. He is so depressed that he doesn't even care to die or to be killed. *The Penguin: He was pretty good on this game, although I would prefer to see more action from him. It could be great if he was the Voice of the Court of Owls. After all, he is THE PENGUIN (get it? The bird theme). By the way, his look is quite similar to Collin Farrel's Penguin from 2022 The Batman. Is no surprise this videogame came out seven months after The Batman release. *Court of Owls: They were really good actually, with their role here very similar to their first comic book appearance. Their conflict against the League of Asassins was also a clever move, something we haven't even seen in the comics. While the League wants to "purify" Gotham, the Court wants to keep it in its status quo so they can keep controlling it from the shadows. *Talia Al Ghoul: She was fine. Nothing special or outstanding of her portrayal. The same things she did in the comics. I was expecting to see a clone of Batman rather than the real Batman revived several times in the Lazarus Pit, because after all she cloned him in the comics. Overall, the villains were fine except of Harley Quinn. It could have more villains in my opinion. And it's a great shame they didn't make this videogame a follow up after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. At first glance it heavily feels like a sequel prior to the events of Arkham Knight until you realize it is not. Even the promotional trailer of the game showed this, and perhaps that was the main reason a lot of people bought it. What a disappointment. Another flaw I noticed on this game is that they could do a different story mode for each playable character (Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood), but what we got was the same story mode with all the characters, which makes it a little dull and unexcited to play. What a misoportunity because they could make a different adventure or side missions for each of them fighting different villains and facing different situations.
The Court vs League thing is also done great because the Talons in this continuity are made using diluted runoff from the Lazarus Pit under Gotham. And someone else fucking around with Lazarus Pit stuff is basically the fastest ticket to getting the League really ticked off once they find out.
Everytime the Court of Owls are on screen I can't help but yawn. Worst they went from one boring villain to another with the League of Shadows. I can't be the only one that finds both these villains extremly boring right?
I agree. Most evil "organizations" are dull clones of each other. A.I.M., H.A.M.M.E.R., League of Assassins, Court of Owls, The Hand...they all follow the same tropes of providing fodder enemies and doing whatever the story needs it to do without limitations and it feels lazy and hollow. Honestly, I gotta give credit to the game for pitting the Court against the League; it's probably the most interesting use of both organizations in any medium, even if it was kind off meh.
I mean, there are like 5 villains? Talia al ghul being one of them... so... make them 4 villains... and... idk... for my personal opinion a batman game who don't have diamonds villains like riddler, two face, bane, scarecrow, poison ivy and others more... if there arent at least a many size of those villains.. is not a good batman game. So i hope they will put some dlc with all the others coming because 5 bosses only is boring to replay again.

People who actually knew who the final boss was going to be if you didn't y'all need check out more comics and lore this story was really predictable and also with the devs doing the die twice thing was also predictable because they wanted to be different.
This game tried so hard to not be like the Arkham series hell they could have remastered Batman Arkham origins multiplayer and that would have been more fun

Clayface got put through a turbine a while back and was believed dead. Now the pieces are trying to reassemble, and it's left him highly unstable as the various pieces are kinda part of him and kinda independent at the same time.
