Pulsar77 Exactly. When the phone rings for the first time we don't think anything of it, but that initial ring started it all off, by the 3rd ring he was dead.
Darth Vaduuur The house was all in his head as well. Yes, the house existed as a poster in the lobby, which is why we saw him look at it for a minute. But this was all to reinforce that everything that was happening to him in his mind in those .04s was just that...things in his mind that were of recent memory. He had just seen the poster of the house, he had just talked about the bully from high school and his ailing dad with Sonya, etc etc. Brilliant episode in my opinion.
The really terrifying thing about this episode? This was caused by a freak accident, a malfunctioning AI and poor Cooper's own head, putting him through immense trauma in the span of only a fraction of a second. Could you imagine if this was refined and used intentionally on people? I can imagine the society in White Bear would be _very_ interested in using this technology on their criminals. With a few tweaks I bet their technicians could make it even more intense, and drag it out for years and years.
The slightly frustrating thing about that, though, is that if there were any potential for electronic interference to cause DEATH, they should scan bodies and not even allow electronics in the room, not just simply turn your phone off and leave it on the table.
Playtest is one of my favorite episodes. It's a mindbender that causes one to question one's own sense of reality and worry how much video gaming may distort it in the future. On a personal note, Sesskasays, I'm sorry the episode hits close to home for you with its use of Alzheimer's. I know what it is like to lose someone to the disease. I hate it as much as cancer. Best of luck with Shut Up and Dance. You're going to need it.
As someone who travels the world a lot and who grew up with a single mother , this episode really got to me . This episode as well as "The entire history of you", " shut up and dance " and " be right back" disturbed be for a very very long time = good writing and good directing , this show is phenomenal
most people missed a lot of references in this episode. It's one of the few that you should watch twice. All the things in his horror experience are hinted at continuously up until he gets the unit implanted. From the game he plays on the plane, to the place the bully scarred him, to the picture of the house in the gaming facility. the real horror is that your subconscious can create any construct with pieces. As she describes it, it takes layers of things to create a reality.
Our mind is our most treasured possession, we should never take risks with it. The changing painting reminded me of the classic 1904 M.R. James short story 'The Mezzotint' (which is one of my favourites).
0:17 So you wanted to watch "Playtest" and "Shut up and dance" in one session? Haha, bad mistake, if you've really done that! But don't worry: "San Junipero" is gonna make up for it! ;o)
Shut Up and Dance to me is THE ONE episode, where it actually makes sense to watch it twice in a row anyway! So I would rather recommend, if you wanna watch 2 Black Mirror episodes, go watch that one twice instead. It´s shockingly eye opening.....
Well, I disagree! The next one in particular. And look, how I´ve used words like "to me" and "I´d recommend"! How about you try keep a bit more open minded and don´t force your opinion down on me? (I sound a little more pissed here, than I actually am. Maybe a simple "imo" at the end of your reply would have made this entire mini-rant from me unneccessary.... Sorry)
See, I see a problem there in your attitude! How about you chill down a little and stop throwing personal insults. I think I´ve explained myself enough to be able to expect a little bit of lenience from you! Now let´s keep this to the point! Shut Up and Dance made me reconsider what I thought about an entire character! Probably even made a 180° turn!! Now when did that happen before? Maybe White Christmas or The Entire History of You! That´s two I could think of! Wouldn´t particularly call that "EVERY" episode. I would argue that there are a bunch of episodes, where I didn´t gain an entirely new point of view after first watching. Some surprises, but that´s clear when the episode is viewed once! I don´t wanna spoil anything, but I´m pretty sure, you know exactly what character trade I´m referring to in SUAD. I HAD to watch that again until I realised, what the character´s behaviour in the beginning actually meant. Now I can give you credit that every episode of Black Mirror can be watched multiple times. That´s what a good show should offer anyways. But that´s not what I initially meant to argue. There´s nuances to me. Now would you please chill out, just because I disagree with what you state as being "facts", because I have a different opinion? I don´t know, how old you are, but that can actually happen in life!
He's deep fears are divided into 2 parts. immersing in the office and losing memory like father. and after woke up, he sees a second fear: return home and talk with mother, seeing her in despair and fair. but then fears obliged, her mother went insane and also has Alzheimer's disease. in the reality he hear the phone call when the machine was loading, that's why he die. that's my thought. and god, the fact that the mother never got through makes it all so sad. he started this trip for his mother. to start a conversation with her, to get closer. that's why he didn't pick up the phone. to explain everything when he returned. in the end, the call of the mother killed him. irony
When the revolutionary horror game Silent Hills - P.T. got cancelled by Konami, a little piece of me deep inside died! ... So, I´m sorry to disagree with you, this shit is right up my alley!
This is probably one of my favorite reactions you've done. Just enough terror, pure emotional distress and shock value to really hit you in the feels. Wish I could have seen your reaction to white bear and white christmas.
Aww LOL watched this especially to see you get that first spider jump-scare (on the chair arm) and it wasn't even in there grrrr lol. Hugs neertheless, Jess. Another great reaction and commentary as always!
This must have been a very gruelling watch for you. Well done on holding it together. And - believe it or not - you're getting close to that most unlikely of things: a happy episode of Black Mirror.
NialasDubh What happy ending in Black Mirror???? I hope you are not talking about San Junipero... That episode was dark as shit disguised as a uplifting 80’s love story.
Hmm - the jump scares in the lodge were fun, but the overall story? Just reminded me of a certain scene in American Werewolf - but, yeah, if you have associations with Alzheimer patients, that must be a bit more hard-hitting . Hope this ep hasn't ruined that song for you forever!
Sophia Jerome Phone interference...Like on Planes when they say turn off all phones so the frequency doesn’t make the Plane malfunction...That’s how the Mom’s call kill him... the Frequency of the phone made the game malfunction and it fried his brain.
Thank you for reacting to these and sharing your thoughts‼️I watched these and didn't understand most of them 😂 but I watched RUclips analysis and break downs of each episode and they blew my mind. My favorite episode is 'Hated by the Nation' bc you at least end on a positive note 😄
I didn't really like this episode that much until I watched a couple of other videos on it, specifically this one: ruclips.net/video/5DCCCPI1sRg/видео.html It put a lot into perspective.
Hi this is a rather unusual request but can you react to the movie "Boys In The Trees" on Netflix? It's a Halloween-themed drama and super emotional, I think you'd love it. If not on your channel, watch in on your own time. Thanks 😊
I mean... how would you define "real"? If I made you think I punched you in the face and your nerve endings fired off, would that not be real to you? How would you know the difference?
Lessons from this story:
- Call your mom
- Don't be a test subject for Hideo Kojima
Lmfao 😂
"He's not making it out of this alive" - Literally right when he actually dies lol 3:00
FoeJred Lol so true.
FoeJred TO THE SECOND!! lmao
Wow. Just wow.
that's kinda creepy
One of my favorite episodes. It took me a moment to realize that the entire game experience never happened, it was all in his head during those 0.04s.
Pulsar77 Exactly. When the phone rings for the first time we don't think anything of it, but that initial ring started it all off, by the 3rd ring he was dead.
Well not entirely, the house is probably a implanted with the chip thing. When they walk around in the factory you can see the house in pc's
@@Strazman also, didn't he say earlier that he and his friends use to play a horror game that took place in that house?
@@erickmejia4602 Yeah, I think so. I'd have to go back and watch the episode again. It's been a while.
The guy in this episode did great acting
Probably causes he's Kurt Russels son lmao
He really did. The emotion is just... so raw
The really terrifying thing about this episode? Combine that with the cookie technology in White Christmas
When the flight attendant says to turn off your electronic devices, just turn off your fucking electronic devices.
LOL gold
The slightly frustrating thing about that, though, is that if there were any potential for electronic interference to cause DEATH, they should scan bodies and not even allow electronics in the room, not just simply turn your phone off and leave it on the table.
"This is about to turn into a horror movie. You should have called your mom, even if she is an alien." - Two out of three isn't bad!
I sure hope that his real mom is fine....
i bet she is not fine after losing a husband and a son
Playtest is one of my favorite episodes. It's a mindbender that causes one to question one's own sense of reality and worry how much video gaming may distort it in the future. Aw no this is the one that really got me, this ending 😭
And now, Cooper's mother gonna call him forever, not knowing what happened to him...
I watched White Christmas and Playtest in one sitting. I didn't watch another episode for 19 months
As someone who travels the world a lot and who grew up with a single mother , this episode really got to me . This episode as well as "The entire history of you", " shut up and dance " and " be right back" disturbed be for a very very long time = good writing and good directing , this show is phenomenal
Didn't you watch the damned "white Christmas"? It fucked me up completely emotionally 😓
"You should have called your mom"
Well, he did in the end. Check out what they end up writing under Observations after the playtest.
This is possibly my favourite episode
yeeeesss
Same
Same
This episode gave me depression...
me after every episode lol
Same here just like white Christmas
dark af ending lol

This episode will always kill me, freak me out, and make me sad.. one of black mirrors best
This show is crazy good...and this is definitely in the top 3 episodes. Looking forward to the next couple.
Our mind is our most treasured possession, we should never take risks with it.
The changing painting reminded me of the classic 1904 M.R. James short story 'The Mezzotint' (which is one of my favourites).
The fact that it's his Mom trying to reach him to make sure he's ok that kills him is so fucked up!
I always like the 'Called Mom' bit she writes down at the end, when in fact had he done just that, he may well have lived.
It also uses the idea that video games are getting more and more realistic but just how far do we want to go with this.
0:17 So you wanted to watch "Playtest" and "Shut up and dance" in one session? Haha, bad mistake, if you've really done that! But don't worry: "San Junipero" is gonna make up for it! ;o)
Marc Gyver No fool, she watched Nosedive and Playtest in the same sitting evident by the same clothes wore in both reactions.
Shut Up and Dance to me is THE ONE episode, where it actually makes sense to watch it twice in a row anyway! So I would rather recommend, if you wanna watch 2 Black Mirror episodes, go watch that one twice instead. It´s shockingly eye opening.....
ChanCeNecK ALL Black Mirror episodes are made so you'll have a different experience watching on multiple viewings.

This episode fucks me up extra hard
it fucked me up for life im sure
"You should have called your mom, even if she was an alien." Lol.
This episode really fucked me up...
He answered drily: ‘You know what is in Room 101, Winston. Everyone knows what is in Room 101. - 1984
I also love how he is constantly reminded throughout the episode is that he should’ve called his mum and him not doing that resulted in his death
that last scene always gives me chills. love your reactions!
Wyatt Russell is the exact definition of "Like Father Like Son" AMAZING actors, shout out to Kurt Russell is a god 🤌🤝🙏
This episode fucked my mind! I was so high too
Haha! Same, I was super baked and watched this episode, then Shut up and Dance. This was also my first time watching Black Mirror :P
5:19 the way he says "what the hell is that?!!" reminds me of his dad Kurt ✊😁
is that the school from the xmen movies?????
It is. Its a famous house. Also apeared in harry potter n the king speech and downtowns abbey
The layers malfunction because of the phone interference and because it lasts
04 sec. It kinda reminds me to Inception and Vanilla Sky
When the revolutionary horror game Silent Hills - P.T. got cancelled by Konami, a little piece of me deep inside died! ...
So, I´m sorry to disagree with you, this shit is right up my alley!
ChanCeNecK #fuckkonami
Right? smh #fuckkonami !!!!!
“OH, mama liked the roses” 🌹 🥀🥺
NOOOO this episode was tooo much for me 😭
A legit company wouldn’t have even allowed a phone in the testing room, especially if they knew it could kill a guy 😳
This is probably one of my favorite reactions you've done. Just enough terror, pure emotional distress and shock value to really hit you in the feels. Wish I could have seen your reaction to white bear and white christmas.
Oh boy, can't wait for the next episode! It's my absolute fave x
I can´t really decide. I just know, that these two perfectly demonstrate that this whole show is just fucking perfect to the T!
Before watching black mirror you should have called your mom even if she is an alien best line of the reaction
Story recommendations: SOMA (sci-fi game), Layers of fear (psychological game).
Aww LOL watched this especially to see you get that first spider jump-scare (on the chair arm) and it wasn't even in there grrrr lol. Hugs neertheless, Jess. Another great reaction and commentary as always!
5:09 I love how self aware Cooper is.
When I saw this for the first time I jump scared many times...
"You should've called your mom, EVEN IF SHE WAS AN ALIEN!"
I didn’t understand it could u explain it to me someone?

So basically they created Uchiha's family Eye Tehnique- Tsukuyomi
This is Tsukoyomi.
NEXT EPISODE NEXT EPISODE NEXT EPISODE CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!!!
Esse episódio me deixou chocado, e o pior é que assisto sempre antes de dormir depois fico pensando na história
Good call watching this with the lights on!
8:43 best scene btw
Yeah this shit from 7:30 on was some of the most fucked up terrifying thing, I´ve ever seen on television!....
This is the old black mirror I want and they completely missed in the new season. Theres “Mind Fuck” and then theres “Mental Rape”
Just one more episode, and then....3x04. 'Nuff said :D :D
9:45 scared me so much, very sad also.
This episode unsettled me. Movies and shows hardly ever unsettle me.
Yay Black Mirror!!
Is the moral here ""TURN OFF YOUR PHONE" haha
That's the moral of ALL Black Mirror episodes - and it's a moral worth following.
Fawk wish you can make your screen smaller and black mirror bigger. But hey, your channel.
Every Black Mirror episode is so fucked up. It's hard to rewatch some of these.
One of my favorite episodes, this is gonna be good.
I was really enjoying this episode but I felt that the twist about it all being part of the simulation ruined it

I don't get how the mom calling killed him?

Hi Sesska, you're gonna love San Junipero when it comes up. Btw, could you react to Mr Mercedes?
the guy in this movie has alzheimer gene, he deny his mom, he ignore the supervisor alert. So he's not easily die, it's very complicated
I didn't really like this episode that much until I watched a couple of other videos on it, specifically this one: ruclips.net/video/5DCCCPI1sRg/видео.html
It put a lot into perspective.
He didn't die, it was just a game.
