Another fun orvar build is pirate tribal, rishadan cutpurse, brigand and footpad are brutal in that deck. But atm my favorite orvar build is just trying to make as many copies of Mind's dilation as I can 😆
Orvar is awesome during an arena game I used mystic reflection with forbidden friendship targeting goldspan dragon while orvar is on the battlefield so many dragons and treasures.
You know whats cool in this deck ? Precursor golem, target it with a cheap blue spell that also draws a card, for 1 or 2 mana, you get to draw 7 cards.
Sleep of the dead would be good for the fun way to build it. For those who don’t know what sleep of dead is it is a sorcery that costs 1 blue for Tap target creature. It doesn’t untap during it’s controller’s next untap step. Escape-2 generic and 1 blue, exile three other cards from your graveyard.
My Orvar deck is mostly cards that copy target creature and clone cards. I also have mirrormade, thespian stage, spark double etc style cards. I call it my "Hall of Mirrors" deck. The intentional Achilles Heel is if no one is playing strong creatures. Very much a, "Nice Ulamog you got there" theme of a deck.
I've made my orvar less of a bounce deck and more of a "if I create two or three copies of this per turn, I'm going to win soon." Things like docent of perfection, halimar excavator, master of waves, and court of cunning specifically.
I built mine as mono blue value, essentially akin to thassa deep dwelling, but with some focus on copying spells and creature specific target spells. Its been a blast. I'm surprised you didn't do storm as the mean build, twiddle effects can copy lands with orvar so its pretty easy to storm off.
Reality Spasm, Gridlock are great blanket token generators. While glancing through my old cards Early Frost popped up. That's an easy way to copy 3 of my own lands which since it doesn't specify "untapped lands" I'll tap em for mana first. Gonna try Magus of the Unseen as a repeatable way to steal opponent's artifacts and then copy them with say Ghostly Flicker effects. That way I would permanently keep the stolen artifact and make a copy of it.
Would it be mean to make infinite Mana, bounce all of my opponents permanents to hand, then copy my sphere of resistance 100 times before passing turn?
I need to pick up a copy of Orvar for my Sakashima/Krark deck. I will make so many copies of Krark to enable so many copies of Jeska’s Will... in theory at least.
The thumbnail looks like it's 4 am, you just got off the late shift at work and without turning on the lights to your house you see the outline of the twinkies and hot cheetos sitting on the kitchen top counter.
Might be off base here, but does reality strobe not only work on the initial casting due to the definition of suspend? It says play rather than cast and Orvar triggers on cast
No it works, if you check suspend on gatherer it has been errated to cast. The play term in general has been errated to cast when the effects doesn't include lands. Any play effect means cast if spell or play if land
Chrono so sorry - just realizing you were asking about commander sleeper series. The comment was on a 3ways to build and my brain was confused lol 😆 very soon! We were actually just talking about this the other day.
I threw in Master of waves, pearltrident and the illiusion master that gives them +1/+1 and hexproof. just make a SHIT ton of those guys they all anthem each other and you got a fat coat of arms type army plus orvar is huge from them as well. just beat stick if you cant combo.

This is awesome. Is there any list for each different deck style available?
@@moistqt no, I don't typically put full lists for these videos together since they're intended to be idea starters. Apologies
@@JakeandJoelareMagic no apologies at all these are great ideas and I'm glad I found your channel!
This deck looks like a lot of fun. Been looking for an interesting mono blue commander. Thanks for breaking it down.
Best video I've seen in years on building commander decks.
Oofa thanks so much!
@@JakeandJoelareMagic Of course! I look forward to more excellent videos :)

Omg that's awesome lol
Joel went HARD for the "mean" song >_
Lol

You guys are always here with the quality content.

Anvil of Bogerden and Hushbringer make for a nasty combo with Ovar. Just built my mean version, cant wait for my pod to remove target player.
I've made my orvar less of a bounce deck and more of a "if I create two or three copies of this per turn, I'm going to win soon."
Things like docent of perfection, halimar excavator, master of waves, and court of cunning specifically.
For the mean way I really like will of Volrath together with 2 mana reducers and strip mine.
Mass Land Destruction for everyone but the Orvar player.
we'll file that under the "mean" section... lol I don't think anyone will expect monoblue land destruction deck coming at them

Man that's my song..real live just gave me goosebumps
Made an Orvar deck myself can't wait ro try it out they are absolutely booster
Would it be mean to make infinite Mana, bounce all of my opponents permanents to hand, then copy my sphere of resistance 100 times before passing turn?
just a little bit, but continue... XD
I'm reminded of the iconic quote from Agent Smith: "What good is a phone call if you are unable to speak?"
love the intro

Nailed it, are you watching me?
@@JakeandJoelareMagic great minds think alike homie.
Wonder what a game of orvar vs tergrid would be like. You get discarded then just make a copy of tergrid right? that would be nuts.
That intro was hilarious 🤣
I'm building it as a copy/steal deck with agent of Treachery and other steal cards.

Connor, really good question. I had to look it up myself. Punisheris1995 below beat me to it.
I have a sakashima vialsmasher deck and he does wonderful in the 99, I would love to have him as a commander
Yeah they're a nice swap out commander option
When is the next commander sleeper series?
We post these at least once a week! Is there a recent commander you want me to theorycraft?
@@JakeandJoelareMagic oh i meant like old sets i recently went through and Binged them all i loved them and they helped me alot.
@@Thestar17x oh that's awesome! Well if you've got any requests, throw them my way and maybe we can get them in an upcoming video!
Chrono so sorry - just realizing you were asking about commander sleeper series. The comment was on a 3ways to build and my brain was confused lol 😆 very soon! We were actually just talking about this the other day.
for those wanting to make copies of blue enchantments, dont forget glamerdye and whim of volrath
Whim of Volrath just easily breaks with Peregrine Drake or Treachery when Orvar is out
Really brutal synergy
Epic intro!
Honestly the singing is pretty impressive for a dude who isn’t a singer
Orvar, sapphire medallion, whim of volrath. After 2 copies of the medallion the whim cost 1 and can target any permanent. Think island. 😈
If I wanted to make this a mean deck, I would put cards like Agent of Treachery in the deck and then flicker him.
Lmfao that 3way intro is the best yet 😝
Field of the dead and inkmoth nexus
I threw in Master of waves, pearltrident and the illiusion master that gives them +1/+1 and hexproof. just make a SHIT ton of those guys they all anthem each other and you got a fat coat of arms type army plus orvar is huge from them as well. just beat stick if you cant combo.
Built orvar, my group calls it the most aggresive /ramping blue deck theyve seen lol
Intros be having me 😂😂😂😂🤣😂🤣
island tokens
This was great love these builds. Keep staying Pawzitive guys 👍
Ahh nickleback
Merfolk tribal
and they say that the mean cards will save us. I'm not going to let u playyyyy. I'll hold on to the counters. watching your hope die away....
❤️❤️❤️
