A really clever one would be Hydroblast, its an instant that costs a single blue and it says: counter target red spell, or "destroy target permanent, if its red" notice the wording, you can target any permanent with it, it only gets destroyed as long as it is red, so you can use it to copy your own things too, its sort of double duty in this deck
Thanks to Orvar, I accidentally learned that making infinite copies of Thassa’s Oracle wins you the game. It’s so much more satisfying than just casting it on an empty library.
Nice stuff, I really like the idea of using clockspinning buyback. I just built Orvar myself, and I can say from personal experience that coveted jewel is usually enough to enable wins on the turn it comes out.
Been brewing an Orvar myself and found out something nice to add to the list. Instead of the Scourge guy for 7 mana a new foretell card from Kaldheim commander: Spectral Deluge. Also something that most people brewing this have been doing lately is Coveted Jewel and I don't run Thassa's oracle as much as I'd want but have an altenative win con via milling with Brain Freeze due to the high storm Orvar can make and also Ruin Crab, because you can copy so many crabs fast and copy lands as fast as well to mill opponents out.
Sure, the "change color" effects aren't that useful most of the time, but don't forget about them because your opponents will. I've used Whim of Volrath to surprise turn off Steel of the Godhead's unblockable effect.
Darksteel Juggernaut and Precursor Golem are great creatures to copy. I've never seen mechanised production before, seems ever better with those artifact creatures.
I personally really like to use Storm Cauldron with Confounding Conundrum. This deck in particular can really use this soft lock once it gets multiple copies in play
Nice decklist. I love Orvar, it was my first mono-blue commander. I really love Hullbreaker Horror, Diluvian Primordial, Sludge Monster, Sphinx of Uthuun and Metallurgic Summonings for this build. Hullbreaker just breaks the opponents. Nobody wants to do anything. Diluvian Primordial will cast all instants and sorcerys from all opponents graveyards and exile them while doing it, thats just ridicoulous. Sludge Monster is an easy way of removal and Sphinx of Uthuun just is Fact or Fiction on a stick. Metallurgic Summonings is a beast on its own. It will explode your board state and basically will let you cast your graveyard over and over and over and over and over again. Combined with a Peregrine Drake, this will pretty much go infinite with a ham sandwich. Bonus: Riptide Laboratory is a nice utility land, because it will protect your commander, if nescessary. I will happily implement some of your cards, especially Master of Waves seems way better than Talrand in this deck. Luckily, I ordered a Sower of Temptation the other day, without really knowing what to do with it. Thanks for the inspiration. What baffles me most about this commander is the unique way it's mono-blue land-ramp. And I got way more Instants and a lot less creatures than you do. My playgroup hated Orvar v1, and they still hate todays Orvar-Iteration. Great commander and thx for the video
If you have both, you could target the other one with your spell (for instance, Sakashima’s trigger on original Orvar’s trigger) and you’d be fine. But you’re right, only having the one out makes it so it can’t target itself.

what exactly will you change with all this color word cards? I do get that we are all about the targeting, but we will have to resolve the card still right? so what do we change on our targets?
Most of the time it's not going to matter what we change it to, but it can come in handy if one of our opponents are playing protection keywords. So it entirely depends on what is on the table and what colors your opponents are playing / protecting against. There are two prominent examples I can think of: there are several swords of x and y that are played often in some metas, and Veil of Summer can grant hexproof from blue and black that you can use this to get around. - Peter

Things I've found to be useful in Orvar: magus of the future + mystic sanctuary, windreader sphinx, thopter spy network, and implement of examination.
You should make a Niambi, Esteemed Speaker sometime. Azorius reanimator sounds neat.

Orvar gets kinda wacky and you ddon't need extra turns in this deck cause it creates its own. If you get to critical mass your turn just doesn't end.
Why dont you use mutate for copying Orvar?
You sadly cannot copy the sakashima and spark double copies of orvar since like the original the copies say "another permanent".
