I can’t believe I forgot about Mulldrifter. If you evoke it then blink it with something cheap like Essence Flux, you keep the keep the original Mulldrifter with the token copy and it ETBs 3 times! That’s 2UU for 2 Mulldrifters on board and 6 card draws
I had mulldrifter but switched it for Cavalier of Gales. Both a good but my play group tend to have a lot of 4/4 and up so it helps with being 5/5 flier
Hey! I've been trying Orvar as well, I haven't used Agent of Treachery since I don't own one but been using some other fun stuff as well: Cloud of Fairies for more untap land and also since you cast spells so much at one point I added Brain Freeze as another win con. Something fun as well to try out is Ruin Crab, you can copy it multiple times and make land copies to mill opponnents. As for a more aggro route I also been trying out Precursor Golem. quite fun tbh especially since you can cast something to shadow/evade all of the golems at once or raise the spell count for a storm spell.
@OrelusBH, those ideas sound like real fun, especially milling my opponents out. I'll have to add some of those fun-ofs to my deck. Thanks for the insight.
Nice deck, there are a lot of ways to play Orvar! I putted him as my eldrazi commander in the place of the old kozilek, copy every mana rock or big monster with some cheap spell is just value.
You can use a Sharpie and still ultimately erase the Infinitokens if you do decide to break Orvar apart: Just go over the Sharpied lines with a regular dry-erase marker and then they can be rubbed out. For some reason this works - take it from a teaching assistant who often worked with kids who thought it was hilarious to graffiti the whiteboards with permanent ink!
What about dizzy spell? It's a 1 mana instant speed target spell, that can transmute into whim, pongify, sol ring, mystical tutor or probably even other good targets.
@@vex_mtg you mean when you transmute you can grab 3 cards that match the cmc example ( whim, mind games and sol ring off that card? Or is it any card 1💧💧 Or below?
@@ericr4677 When you transmute, you can only grab 1 card that has the matching mana value of the card you are transmuting. For example, transmuting Dizzy Spell allows you to fetch a single mana value 1 card.
Nice Deck! What about Hydroblast? one mana permanant target spell that can counter or destroy with all the color changing spells! i like treachery, with that you can steal a lot and untap your mana. And metallurgic summonigs for token creation. later you can get back all your spells.
I forgot about Hydroblast @Modern Viking, great call! I didn't include Treachery because I tend to avoid reserved list cards in my deck techs, but if you have it I highly recommend playing it. Thanks for the support!
Sadly Throne of Eldraine doesn't work, because when the copy comes in state-base effects resolve and you have to sac one of them, if you sac the original the targetting spell fizzles and you lose it to the GY, buyback or not.
Thanks for the recommendation @Okapi. I originally wanted to streamline the deck by having as many one mana spells as possible, but I'll give Teferi's Time Twist a try.
Say we play sakashima AS sakashima, but now we get to target sakashima to make a copy that comes in as Orvar. Orvar's text reads "one or more OTHER permanents" so he can only be copied using "ETB as a copy of another creature you control". All said and done lots and lots of triggers at once for 1 blue.
Thanks @Lv5SuperTuba. This deck is pretty unique, I say go for it. I love building mono-color decks sometimes because I don't have to think about the mana base. I'm still working on the 32 deck challenge with one of each color combination.
@@vex_mtg wowza that's something to aspire too! I've kept it at 4 decks for years, but I'm the works to build 3 more that are a bit more fun and a little less serious!
I just finished doing the same thing!! Orvar is my mono blue, ashaya soul of the wild is green, Prava +akroma vision of whatever are my white, Baeloth baerytol and passionate archeologist is my red, gisa glorious ressurector is my mono black
Turn 4 you could have gotten infinite land because after you used Dream's Grip in response to Orvar dying, you had 2 medallions and 1 mana open to Whim of Volrath infinite times since buyback would be free. After you stop casting Whim though, the spell targeting Orvar would finally resolve and kill him.
Nice deck! One question please: if you play the combo with Coveted Jewel, you can't produce infinitive mana, right? Because everytime a new one enters the battlefield, you have to draw 3 cards and at one point, there are no cards left and you lose.......or?
You can technically respond to the draw triggers and get infinite mana, but once you draw enough of your deck, you should be able to find a way to win.
@@vex_mtg thank you sir. I really enjoy coming to your channel. Our deck styles are similar but you always have either a card I never seen before or it’s out of my price range. So I try to find a budget ult. You’ve been a great help.
I know this is 2 years old, but i rcommend hullbreaker horror, meteor golem, and precurser golem Also junkwinder serpant has a ton of synergy because you spam out token copies of things
Rhystic Study + Mulldrifter + Cantrip Targets + Coveted Jewel + others. You just need one of these cards + Orvar to start drawing cards. Archmage Emeritus would be perfect for the deck too.
That's a neat idea @Tyler Hodson, Keiga would slot perfectly in the deck. I wouldn't load up too much on high CMC cards though as you need that extra mana for targeting shenanigans.
@@vex_mtg Keiga seems neat but also something like Inga legend rule (instant speed when 2 things died that turn) and you get scry draw 3s. There’s other cheaper options than Keiga like steal enchantment one of my favs. Naiad of hidden cove or some others alternatives to sapphire medallion for dupes or budget list. Something neat like mizzium meddler could steal opponents auras or other things. I think you also didn’t have docent of perfection which is just sweet finisher.
Archaeomancer is way better than snapcaster in this deck because you can still copy it at instant speed and it buys back your spells instead of exiling them
@Azkuula K'taktu I agree Archaeomancer is much better than Snapcaster in the deck. I have Snapcaster in addition to Archaeomancer because it's a cheap creature that is also useful with Orvar.
@David Chesterton, Clockspinning does indeed work on permanents without counters, I made sure to check the gatherer ruling before adding this card to the deck.
@@vex_mtg I read the gatherer notes too. I didn’t see any note about being able to target a permanent without a counter just the note about it not having a counter on resolution. But after trying to read more about it online it probably works like Whim of Volrath.
orvar cannot make a copy of himself, it needs to target something else but orvar. Secondly best is I think to swap the double sided land for a basic island to get more value out of High Tide. You could went infinite with it using Spell seeker and repeatedly create lands + tutor. since you will net 0 or +1 with another 1cost reduction
@@vex_mtg You can with the new Sakashima! And then start copying the Sakashima clone in case the original gets removed. When you get multiple Orvars (with Sakashima out likely copying it itself), they will each trigger separately, so with 2 Orvars, your next targeted spell will net you two token copies. With the Buyback combo, you can end up with infinite Orvars!
@Thomas Hutchinson, with Whim of Volrath and Coveted Jewel combo, random other cards like Agent of Treachery, Venser, etc. can win the game. But those cards are also generically good.

Picked up my whim of volrath at $2.50 right when this card was spoiled and now I’m ready to build it!
That’s a deal @Jose Cisneros, I paid like 10x the price, but I had to have it in the deck!
Yeah now its almost $35

I pulled Orvar from a pack and I might build a deck for him! Awesome Vid!

Why Snow-Covered islands?
How about Keiga, the tide star. Infinite target and with it being legendary, it’d die to the legendary rule and you still steal their creatures!

Not sure if snap caster mage is a card you wanna make a bunch of clones out of since with flashback it exiles the card you are casting
@Gabriel Oviedo, it's definitely not a way to go infinite with, but it does present good value for a low cost.
if i chose glasspool mimic land side, and then just copy that glasspool mimic land, does the copy enter as a land or as glass pool mimc?
