      It’s nice that brago is already included in the deck but i definitely would have been worried if they added busted etbs in this deck

    I think part of the "mean" strategy that is being overlooked is incrementally building a token army whenever you use exiling removal, as it doesn't say that you need to exile your own permanents to get the token.

    Best mtg content on the net!
    I'm not sure how I feel about this commander yet but it's definitely an interesting deck. I like the "shell game" aspect you get with the foretell mechanic.
    Sweet vid as always Joel!

      Bro, this deck is so much fun. You gotta try it. Idc if you do strong, fun, or mean. It's such a different game.
      Btw, the box precon can lay down some crazy stuff. You can have fun without even upgrading it dramatically lol.

    This is a solid video from start to finish for anyone that buys this Kaldheim Commander deck! Plenty of great options in a good presentation. I just picked it up last week even knowing about the upcoming Spirit Squadron deck from Crimson Vow, because of the different options available with Phantom Premonition.

    No one is mentioning Parallax Wave - Opalesence combo. Exile everyones creatures at instant speed and also make infinite spirits. With alter of the brood you'd win that turn.

    • @JakeandJoelareMagic
      @JakeandJoelareMagic  3 года назад +2

      Oh, that's a great combo to include! Do you play Ranar?

      @@JakeandJoelareMagic after your video, i do now. Had to remove all stax for more flicker. Smooth as butter now. Board wipes are the only downfall without (flicker until end of turn) in hand.

    If the plan is to make a bunch of spirit tokens, then I'd recommend Mirrorweave
    2(U/W)(U/W) Instant
    Each other creature becomes a copy of target nonlegendary creature until end of turn.
    Attack with all my creatures. After blocks have been declared, change them into the most dangerous thing on the table. Sure would be a shame if my opponent had a symmetrical elf lord like Elvish Champion on the battlefield.....

    Cool ways to build ranar I feel like the precon tried to do all 3. It was cool too see some one take this down a foretell path lots of channels I've seen focused more on flicker/blink and fortell on the side.

    I've been trying to find some theme-ish combos to slip into a Millicent EDH deck and Ranar caught my attention.
    It's really too bad that Ranar's triggered ability generates only one token, I had a lil' loop combo all planned out till I realized only one token is generated. X'D

    My only problem with Ranar is the Whenever one or MORE card are exiled, meaning that with brago you only get 1 token even if you blink your whole board.

    • @arjikristian2777

      Dude, just use felidar guardian plus a clone or restoration angel to get multiple trigger of Ranar's last ability in one turn. 😁

  • @Funder1Nk

    Just keep in mind. If more than one thing is exiled at the same time ranar only gives you one token.

      Solution: Felidar Guardian + Clone/Restoration Angel = million spirits (same thing with deadeye navigator + cloud of faeries or peregrine drake) 😁

  • @ultra2019

    Thought Lash is another card like Moonring Mirror. This deck looks like it could really go bad sometimes. I wouldn't lean into flicker too much, more of other exile tricks. You need the foretell spells to make it work, and you have to let Azorius do its control/stacksy thing. Yet, I don't make fun decks much. Good commander for copy spells like Mirrormade.

    Can ranar the ever watchful work with the reflection of littjara ? thx

    • @JakeandJoelareMagic
      @JakeandJoelareMagic  3 года назад +1

      it's not the best match - ranar's abilities and reflections effect don't really cross synergies very well - unless you're going strictly spirit tribal, in which case it would be great. tribal decks will always like reflections.

  • @IvanMTG1

    Ranar huh.......let's make a thematic palindromic deck!!!

  • @yorhey
    @yorhey 3 года назад

    Seems like all the Ranar decks leave out the imprint and suspend mechanic.
    I mean, no Mimic Vat? More etb's and spirits. Same with Ice Cauldron.
    Summoner's Egg?
    Séance?

  • @Chloe_Athey

    Does Ragnar makes a token for each card exiled or just 1 per turn regardless of how many you exile?

  • @pattmahiney
    @pattmahiney 3 года назад +1

    Pro tip: don't forget ranar gives tokens for battlefield exiles -- not just on your side.
    This deck can be bad af, bro. I'm having so much fun with it. So much fortell and exile synergy, nothing but fliers, control and board clear and removal out the ass.... Yall gotta try it. Foretell literally changes the game.
    Don't sleep on soulherder, conjurers closet, and bident of thassa. Maybe as foretold, too. Sick combos with Ranar and a few permanent creatures. Just beware the deflecting palm 😂😂

    Does Ranar's first ability allow you to NOT pay the {2} or does it allow you cast without paying the foretell cost( on the later turn)? Anyone plz🤷🏽‍♂️✋

    • @del132
      @del132 3 года назад

      Ranar's ability discounts the 2 to put a card in exile, it doesn't discount the casting cost of the Foretell card in exile.

    So with Ranar the Ever-Watchful, you only get one 1/1 spirit token even if you exile 3 cards? You don't get a 1/1 token for every card exiled?

    • @JakeandJoelareMagic
      @JakeandJoelareMagic  3 года назад +1

      if they all exile at once, yes. If you can separate them into different occurrences, you get multiple spirits. it's "whenever" so you're benefitted by doing one at a time. does that make sense?
